UW Madison c/o 2025

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am also wondering about this!! anyone know??
From my understanding, UW-SVM makes one which everyone can then join! I'm not sure when that would be as I think the UW SVM SAVMA social media officer does that.

Hi I have accepted my offer too! I created a non-official FB group and it is University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine 2025.

I just accepted my offer today! Wondering if anyone knows about a C/O 2025 Facebook group or something similar?
Hi I created a non-official group on FB! Search for University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine 2025. Looking forward to chatting with you!

Hi guys 🙂
Here's the official facebook group for class of 2025!
You can also look it up by searching: University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2025

If any currently accepted students are going to the information session, I'll hopefully be at the student panel so come say hi 🙂

anyone know when we should start looking for housing? Also any suggestion where to look? I'm gonna be coming from out of state and probably won't have a chance to visit Madison before moving there.

I'd search websites like Apartments for Rent in Madison, WI | Rentable (formerly ABODO) or other apartment/housing searching websites.
You can also try to connect with your fellow classmates if you're looking for housemates. Some upper classmen have vacant rooms for next term which they are looking to fill if you want to live with people not in your year.

A lot of my classmates (me included) live along the University Ave. area around the 7-11 south of the vet school as it's one of the nearest places you can live within walking distance to the vet school. Popular apartment complexes include Casa Blanca, University Heights, Old University, but there are plenty of smaller apartment complexes and houses too. Some of my classmates choose to live further away for one reason or another and commute in via bus or their own vehicles.

Parking at the vet school is limited, but this may become more feasible as they just built a giant parking garage in front of the vet school and plan on building another one right next to it. There are discounted student parking rates now for that parking garage, but it is first come first serve. However with how big the parking garage is, I don't personally anticipate parking to be an issue as it was with the surface lots.

Has anyone heard about any movement on the OOS waitlist? I heard that they would be sending out monthly updates but haven't heard anything yet.

I didn't hear anything from them either.

Called Jenna from the admission office two weeks ago. She said that they do not plan on sending out monthly update this year, but we can call or email to ask, email preferred. She said that OOS waitlist students should start to hear back early April, depending on the ranks. I only got moved up by 1 when I asked......Hope this is helpful and good luck!

Removed myself from the OOS waitlist #11 spot, hope someone moves up! Good luck to you all!

Thank you! That is actually very helpful. I may email in a bit just out of curiosity but yes I was kind of expecting minimal movement until after April 15th 🙂

I emailed Jenna last week for my updated spot on the oos waitlist, and she told me I had moved from #70 to #60. Hope this helps anyone else who has not asked yet!

Emailed this week about my waitlist position. Still #6. 😂

Just declined my spot for a school closer to home that gave more scholarships, good luck to all of you on the waitlist!

Did anyone get pulled off the waitlist at all so far? Or do they normally wait until after April 15th to move on to the waitlist?

Hi I'm not sure if you're IS or OOS, but I was on the IS waitlist and I got pulled off a couple weeks ago, so it is moving!
Good to know, thanks! And congratulations! I am OOS but I don't really see much movement on my ranking. Getting anxious as time goes by...

I recieved an email update saying my current position is #10 IS. I was #18 before. Really hoping I get off the waitlist this year.

After accepting the offer, are we allowed to withdraw the offer after April 15th?
Financial aspect has unexpectedly become a huge factor in my decision making, and now I am in a difficult position where I might have to withdraw my acceptance due to financial status.
Are there any penalties that might follow this action?

Does anyone know if you get any confirmation after submitting the online survey to accept your seat? I’m paranoid that it didn’t go through

From what I remembered from the info session, you just have to let them know if you decided to withdraw. UW-Madison doesn’t require any deposit to hold your seat.

There are no penalties! Lots of people accept offers now withdraw after the deadline 🙂

I just got pulled off the waitlist too!! Soooo happy right now!!! I was OOS #18 originally. Good Luck everyone!!
Oh wow, so #6 and #18 got pulled today? Thats awesome, and very quick! I am #24...still waiting but got accepted somewhere else so may be declining..

Does anyone have an answer to this? I have not seen anything on the forum, but I was wondering if there was any confirmation from the school after signing the signature page

I received a confirmation email after filling out the survey yesterday.

Thank you for your quick reply! Was this immediately after the survey submitted or later in the day? I just submitted the form, but I am hoping to get confirmation and some more information from the school

Haha I’ve been aggressively stalking this forum for months. But I got the email like 2-3 hours after submitting.

I submit my survey around 4PM PST time, and got my confirmation about noon the next day! You can always call the office of academic affair and asked. I called them (this was before I received the confirmation), and they were real nice to check for me if they received the survey response

Anyone know how many electives we can take? Is it not recommended to take more than 1? The letter in the email Jenna just sent out said electives are optional.

Can someone explain the selective week? Is that the same as the electives?

Also does anyone know when or if we get a white coat ceremony? It doesn’t say on the calendar

Does anyone know how much each elective is?
I don’t believe the elective cost any more than normal tuition. Looking at the UW-Madison Bursar’s website (Tuition Rates), once you hit 14 units, the tuition cost the same. Since our core classes are 17 units total, the electives shouldn’t add any cost to your tuition

Oh okay, that is a relief to know !!!

I'm not completely sure, but I think they have a blue coat ceremony for 3rd years before starting clinicals. I could be wrong though

There's no limit as to how many electives you can take! I know someone who signed up for two in one semester. These are just for your enrichment only and are not required to graduate

One credit each!

Third years get a blue coat ceremony before they enter clinical year.

Thanks Lisagk! You have been super helpful 🙂

Selectives week is different than electives. Electives are optional courses you can take during the regular semester. These courses are different than selectives week, which is required for everyone. Selectives week were meant to help you gain exposure to different fields that you may be interested in that is not normally offered in the regular curriculum. For example, you can do an outside selective clinical experience where you shadow a vet for a week. Or you could sign up to do shadow rotations for a certain specialty at the teaching hospital. Or it could be taking a one week mini class for the week to learn a new skill or something. So after you are done with your semester and taking finals, the week after the spring semester of first year or the week before of your fall semester starting in your second year, you do a selective.

Anytime! Happy to help 🙂
