Is that still the case when you take into consideration cost of medical school attendance, interest on over 300k loans, opportunity cost during med school and residency, and declining physician reimbursement? There are also non-economic factors such as increasing physician burnout and dissatisfaction rates. I would argue that unless you are in the super elite who can go to Harvard Law (or start your own Silicon Valley company), you are better off getting a good bachelor's degree and get a well-paying job, such as an actuary or accountant and live a modest life. A decent MBA might even be a better investment than an MD.
I don't think medical school is "by far" the superior choice for us slightly above average Joes anymore. I used to say only go into medicine because you love it, but all of the "fun" is being sucked out by the government and corporatization.
