Has anyone sent a letter of interest and heard back after they received it? I sent a letter over 2 weeks ago, and still haven't heard anything. My application has been placed on hold since early October. I was just wondering what anyone else's experiences might be. I don't know if they might let you know in some way that they received it or if they just ignore it. Thanks!
i was placed on a pre-interview hold (post secondary) a while ago. i sent in a letter of interest along with more lor's (from 3 additional do's) and haven't heard any update besides it would be reviewed again in the future, as the email said when i was originally placed on hold. good luck.
I got an interview here! YEAH!!!! Wohooo. They wanted me in Dec 1rst but since I am a professor I am too busy, so I told them Dec 14th. Really excited because alot of my friends and people I know did not get an interview. Wish I could have made Dec. 1rst. 🙁 This will be my second interview, with NYCOM comming up as my 3rd in January. Where do I fly in etc? I need advice on what and where to go/do. Thanks much. Good luck to everyone.
Congrats Jedi, too bad you couldn't make it then, I am interviewing on Dec. 2nd, it would have been good to see you again (remember I was at the DCOM interview). I am flying in to the Roanoke airport. The hotel I am staying at will pick me up from there (it is far from what I can see maybe 30 miles?) and they also have a shuttle to the school as well. This is nice because then I won't have to rent a car (trying to save some $$)! Good luck on your interview!
just got an interview invite for dec. 9th. over the phone they did say that if accepted i would have to take a graduate level biochem class in spring of 2010 and do decently in it. has anybody else been told anything like this of being offered a conditional acceptance? i guess you can't skip multiple days and weeks of undergrad biochem to go backcountry skiing while the snow was good (hence the name reference to telemark skiing) and not have it come back to bite you at some point.
Hey everyone. I was accepted for the upcoming class, but I have a question for my friend who is not an SDN user. He had an interview at VCOM and was rejected, which is completely acceptable. However, he was a little put off by the email he received. The email said that they did NOT encourage him to reapply. Is this normal? I know plenty of people that reapply and get in so I was a little surprised by this response. Has anyone else gotten a response like this? Applicants can change so much over the course of a year (especially numbers e.g. MCAT / GPA) so it seems kind of odd to tell someone that they shouldn't reapply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.👍🙂
I would assume THEY know how much an applicant's numbers can change as well. Perhaps they saw something in your friend during the interview that they did not like and do not believe your friend is a good fit for the school. Maybe your friend showed some arrogance or another undesirable quality that put off the interviewer. It is not common for rejection letters to discourage people from reapplying. Trust me, I've received a lot of them. 😀
Interviewed at VCOM today and was VERY impressed. I love the area and the school. So far VCOM has been the best interview day I've had and probably the nicest school. They said decisions will come tomorrow.![]()
What questions did they ask?
Got my acceptance call a few hours ago. YAHOOO! So excited, I love this school. Now I have a HUGE decision to make, but about 90% sure I'm going to VCOM.
Good luck to everyone else interviewing, this is really a wonderful school!!

This is gonna be a tough decision. LMU-DCOM or VCOM. We'll see.

I had a DCOM deposit due Monday and will withdraw my application after interviewing and being accepted at VCOM. DCOM is a good school but nowhere near the quality of VCOM in my opinion. Good luck with your decision. It's a good problem to have.
I'm gonna disagree with you on that one. Every DCOM student that I talked with loved the school. That's every student I talked with at the pizza night and on interview day. That's like 15 students. I talked with two VCOM students. BOTH of them had complaints that appeared to not be getting better. VCOM rotation sites might be better, but I will put the DCOM's first two year's curriculum and faculty up against any program in the country.
2012er speaking here... We got out 6/19, and came back 8/17 - so we got a healthy 2 months. Not sure about the calendar, but last year I believe they got out for July (maybe toward the beginning?) and I know they came back in mid-August (we started the 18th, I think, and the second years started the same week).
There is a shorter summer break, but we do get week-long breaks in between each block. 😀
To both of you, I am glad that you all found the right school for you. That's what I am in the process of doing. I didn't think that it would be this hard. I went ahead and sent my deposit to DCOM just because I did not want to give up that seat. I still have a month for VCOM, so we'll see where I'll end up. There's nothing like setting the course for the rest of your life. 😱
