Hi everyone! I thought I would create a group chat via GroupMe for all those who are accepted. It's a great way to connect and meet your potential classmates! The GroupMe link is attached below.

I also submitted it on 8/9 and I am also not marked as completed
There's no harm in reaching out to the admissions team to ask about your application. Contacting them and expressing interest in VCOM can actually help get your application reviewed sooner.

they said my app was complete Sept 3 (like passed screening) and i have heard nothing. i submitted my primaries in june should i reach out?

My portal has an X next to "Application Complete" however everything seems to be submitted. Wondering if I should also reach out at this point.

Received a secondary 07/31 and forgot to add it to my tracking sheet.... will be submitting sometime this week. Am I cooked?! 🙁

How was the interview for those who had it? Was it an individual interview or group? Conversational or any unexpected questions?

I would submit your secondary and follow up with an email to [email protected] to let them know that your secondary is complete. They are very understanding, especially if you really want to come to VCOM!

There was both individual and group interviews. You're split into two groups and while one group does their individual interviews with 2 faculty members, the other group does this discussion on different moral scenarios. Both were very conversational and nothing was too out of the ordinary

Is anyone unable to access the secondary portal? It hasn't been working for me since yesterday - not sure if I should keep waiting or just email the school?

I can access it. It could be something with their portal though, I would reach out and ask them

submitted primary 06/04/2024. Then on 06/11/24 i received an email with the following:

We thank you for taking the time to submit an application to the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Your application is scheduled to be reviewed by committee. The purpose of the committee meeting is to determine whether or not to invite you to submit a Secondary Application along with letters of recommendation.

Please be advised: considering the volume of applications we receive, the review process may take a few months. As soon as the committee has had the opportunity to review your file, we will be certain to notify you by email.

Should you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the Office of Admissions at [email protected].
I got the same thing since it says vt does this mean we were assigned Virginia tech campus? I had something’s come up that make vt no longer the ideal location for me but idk if it’s too late to change or what to do..

anyone's application marked complete? I submitted mine months ago and its still incomplete and waiting to be marked complete

I'm starting to get a little nervous for VCOM-VA, I've heard that people from the other campuses have gotten II within the same month they applied. Anyone else in a similar boat as me?
Submitted primaries on 8/19
Secondaries received + submitted on 9/3
App marked as complete 10/10

You should give them a call or send them an email. They review candidates based on how well they match the mission of VCOM, not in the order that applications were received. For example, someone located in the Appalachia target region will likely be reviewed before someone from California. There are a number of other factors that affect this as well such as GPA, MCAT, etc....If you reach out and express interest in VCOM-VA it may help your application get reviewed sooner. Good luck!

I got an email invitation to lunch with an Admissions Recruiter. Does this mean anything in terms of my application or is this just something VCOM does? I signed up to attend anyway but I was just curious

it's just something they do, i think they do a lot of them but it can only help 🙂

I’ve been marked as “screen review” for [emoji[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]]] months now, and I emailed admissions a week and a half ago with no answer. Is anyone in a similar boat?

same here

I keep getting emails regarding submitting a letter of intent, but I have not been interviewed yet. Is this something they will accept pre-II? I feel like the norm for letters of intent are after IIs.
Pretty sure it said letter of interest not intent

Right. So, still something they expect before an interview? Letter of "interest" vs intent it still sounds like they both serve the same purpose
They don’t, a letter of intent is a letter stating that if accepted you will definitely attend the school. They are really only written after an interview. A letter of interest is just stating you are still interested in the school and are used prior to obtaining an interview. You should only write one letter of intent but can write as many letters of interest as you like.

It's been almost 2 months since I submitted my secondary, but am not yet marked complete. Should I be concerned or is this a reasonable timeline for this school?

Submitted secondaries 9/3
App marked as complete 10/10
Interviewed 12/5, unfortunately got the R on 12/18.

I think my stats were good (in-state, gpa: 3.7, MCAT:500) and my interviewers seemed to reallyy like me. I can guess why they sent out the R, mistake (which I tried to fix immediately) was post interview and tour.

Advice for future interviewees. I strongly believe VCOM is one of those schools that want you to show STRONG interest constantly. They evaluate you the entire interview day b/c they are 'holistic'. At the same time, be careful b/c in my opinion they do focus on small mistakes despite their holistic evaluation 🙁 I'd recommend sending thank you emails and letters of interest post-II. I was about to send an LOI and I saw the R email.

Wishing everyone the best of luck b/c I truly did enjoy the campus and culture at VCOM <3

Previous threads started releasing Pre-Rs around this time. 😢

If you get an interview at one particular campus, what are the odds you could switch to a different campus location in the event of an acceptance, especially if all of your family ties and support are in the location you want to switch to?

OOS II. Did everyone else know that they do interviews in person? and not through Zoom?

They are in-person for mine upcoming. I’d rather do in in-person to ease into it rather than break out rooms 😂
