Wow I love how more people have replied to this than tons of posts I've seen. I'm definetely a Nintendo girl. I love GHIII and Mario Galaxy and all that jazz. I even still have my N64 and play the greatest game of all time Orcarina of Time every now and then.

Wii's WE08 will be entirely point and click with the Wiimote. It's like RTS footy.

you need to check out the newer FIFAs (2007+). they made it really, really hard to score in. you can have ten breakaways inside the 18 and maybe score once.

Haha, my suite mates have two wiis and I finally got around to playing RE4 in the past month. Beat it through a couple of times as well as all of the extras. I liked RE2 a lot on the PS1 way back when. I want to pick up the gamecube version of Metal Gear Solid and replay that as well, though maybe I should try and beat mgs2 and 3 haha. Back to GH3 now, slowly making my way through expert.

halo is definitely a favorite. i like to justify my playing time by telling myself that it's improving my hand-eye coordination skills, which will ultimately benefit my career as an MD if i pursue something in surgery.... =P

I bought GH3 last week and already I am really good in medium, but the hard level is really damn hard... How do you manage to change your fingers? Do I need to follow a specific strategy or should I just practice more to come up with my own way of doing it?

haha ocarina of time is a definite classic. I remember going to class, coming home at 3, playing that game, then going to sleep and repeating the cycle for 2 months.

The best games I've played are "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "BioShock" for the XBOX 360 and PS3. If you decide to play "Elder Scrolls" make sure you have PLENTY of time! That game can be addicting!

Finishing Ocarina of Time was probably as satisfying as getting into med school.

Skies of Arcadia was tight, too. I think they made a version for GameCube, for those who don't have Dreamcast.

It's funny how I find myself starting to play video games all over again after so long. I was a big gamer through most of high school but by the time senior year rolled around I kind of stopped and didn't really play anything all through college except a little counterstrike on PC every now and then, but rarely. A while back I looked at my old gamecube (which I had two games for and an inch of dust on top of) and decided to look around on amazon. I found tons of old games for super cheap (since it's no longer a current system) and they are damn good! I was missing out on good fun all this time. During undergrad I was mostly worried about studying, going out with girlfriend and friends, and getting into med school of course. All of a sudden I find myself with more free time now and I'm glad I rediscovered this old hobby 😀. When I'm not studying or working out I now have something to do. It's not cost-effective for me to get one of the new gen systems (PS3 mainly, because my nephews have the wii, and ugh, I can't stand it) since on the wards next year I'll be more tight for time, but I don't care much for super HD graphics or any of that....these old classics rock. That and I discovered my love for emulators and my old SNES....those were the days!

Mario Kart for Wii is supposed to be stinkin awesome in this regard.... revolutionary in fact. Arg... Nintendo, why did you have to make a console that is so stinkin different and may not see Sega's arcade ports for... *sniff I just can't justify buying a Wii and a PS3...

I can't emphasize enough to amount of awesome encompassed within Team Fortress 2. That game has become the only game I ever play. I don't care about any other game anymore. 8 years later, this game finally came out and it's worth it.


Sidenote: Duke Nukem Forever has been longer in development than the time it takes for someone go to through med school/residency. Also, World War 2 fniished in a shorter amount of time than Duke Nukem Forever. Isn't that...strange to anyone else?

Haha, I read something about that once. It's been in development for a decade or more, I think. It makes me wonder what they could possibly be doing, because technology has changed so much since then. When did Counter Strike first come out?

I think it came out when Half Life came out, or around that time. It's been a while (1996?) and I remember that Duke Nukem Forever was in talks around that time.

I wanted to buy wii before, but I thought most of the games seem to be for kids. I mean in terms of graphics and stuff I like games like call of duty or Halo, however, most of the fun games in wii are tennis, bowling or other games which I know are fun but maybe only for a day.

That can be true, but you get addicted to it. Rather than studying for one of my tests that was on a Monday, I decided to spend the weekend getting my ability up to pro in tennis.

For some reason the Targets by us get a lot more in each shipment than do Best Buy or Circuit City and no one goes there to get them (whereas you need to get there super early if you go to Best Buy or Circuit City).

It's supposed to be a little easier now after the holidays, but not that much.

Desktop Tower Defense

Upgrading my water turrets as we speak.

And if not that, then online emulated versions of Rampart (SNES).

Hell yeah. harvest moon 64.

I think my record on that game is in the first week of Fall of the first year, I had all the upgrades, a barn full of cows (all producing L milk) and sheep, a lot of chickens, married to Karen, and my entire field was grass. Donno how many of the recipes I had, or how many other friends I had, but it was quite a feat for me.

True, '08 has made it such that you can't be screaming down the pitch all the time. Once you figure out that short, quick passing is the key, '08 is a snap (works best with 3-2-3-2 formation).

I probably shouldn't have brought up the whole AI thing. After all, online play is where it's at, assuming you can put up with all the Barca and Brazil teams.

yeah, it's all about passing and tactics. except for my little brother.. he just finds someone fast like Henri or Podolski and lobs the ball down the pitch. he beats my defense every time 🙄

I left the console world a while back, but old favorites that I have are:

Nintendo NES (which needs a new AC adapter): Legend of Zelda I-II, Mario I-III, Final Fantasy I

SNES: Super Mario World (and Allstars).

I should really dig up my old emulators out of nostalgia.

The best buy at home tells people if they know (and how many are coming). People will line up for them before the store opens and some of the employees show up with tickets for the amount that they have available at some point so you can walk around rather than stand there. Maybe it's just a area specific thing because it can be pretty cold at 4 am.

I think you meant XBOX360. I think you should wait until the PS3 is modded, then get one, download games, burn them, and smile at the money you saved. [joke]

But seriously, I still vote PS3 because while it isn't living up to expectations yet, it has a lot of potential. There are a few excellent titles that will soon come out:
-God of War 3
-Final Fantasy 13
-Grand Theft Auto 4
and many more.

Be aware that if you do get a PS3, you really must get a wicked TV to take advantage of it.

Oh, and for the record, if its a game that Nintendo is backing, you know it will be an instant classic: Donkey Kong, Zelda, Mario (Kart), Golden Eye, Metroid. No one else delivers quality so consistently.

I think Gran Turismo 5 is also coming on PS3. I've played the 4 series on PS2; it's a real racing experience.
