Hi everyone,
As I am working on my application I have come across a couple of questions. I figured I would check with you before I called the VMCAS people. My undergraduate degree is in Business Management rather than any type of science, this means that the majority of my classes are not science related. I was wondering if "None of the Above" is the appropriate area to list all of my business classes, because it seems like it would be strange to have 26 classes listed as None of the Above. Any recommendations?

My other question is probably easier to answer- when you list your class in the "planned / in progress" section (classes i'm taking this coming year), would I mark them as "incomplete"? I haven't started these courses, but I don't want them to think that I did not finish the course once I started it (as in, got an I on my transcript).

Thanks for all your help!

According to the VMCAS forum where I saw this question asked, you would put the planned/in progress classes as incomplete. I assume the schools can see they are in progress so they will know why they are incomplete.
I'm not sure about the business classes, as a business major myself I was wondering this...I put none of the above personally, but I don't know if there's a better answer.

Thanks! I appreciate the quick response

Thanks for your post, this is a common question coming in to VMCAS. The term "Incomplete" (in VMCAS terminology) does have two meanings.. 1) The course was started, and not finished ("I" on transcript) and 2) Planned courses since you technically have not completed the course, it's incomplete. The vet schools are aware of this, and know to refer to transcripts for any incomplete course.

As for your business courses.. Poppy was exactly right.. "none of the above" is the proper classification for these courses.. provided they do not fit in any other given classifications.

THANKS

Now, for a variation on this question:

I have courses that are planned/in-progress, but fit more than one category. For example, my study abroad course would technically be "Study Abroad" and "Incomplete" - my distance education statistics course "Distance Learning" and "Incomplete." Is there a priority to which I should list, or does it not really matter and I should stop worrying over it? 😛

I have a class that was required, Freshman Seminar, that was only 1 credit and a grade of "Satisfactory." I am undecided how to classify it - here is the description:

"Each freshman seminar section of approximately ten to fifteen students is led by one faculty or staff facilitator and one sophomore leader, known as a PAL (Peer Assistance Leader). Seminars meet for nine weeks, are designed to facilitate small group discussion of issues pertinent to living in community, and provide an opportunity to get to know a faculty or staff member and sophomore leader well. Grading for the program is on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) basis. A grade of S carries one hour of academic credit but no quality points; a grade of U carries neither academic credit nor quality points."

Basically we just hung out, played games, went bowling, went out to dinner, etc. Is "None of the Above" appropriate here?

If I were doing it, I would list as Incomplete, so that it is understood that there is no grade....but that's just me, and I can't tell you for sure.
