According to the Davis portal thing they’re using my VMCAS science GPA. And yes, I believe they use the GRE quant score.

If my VMCAS science GPA wasn’t so low I would definitely consider them- schools that would calculate their own GPAs and do grade replacement at this point would probably be best since my recent year (I took 61 credits, most of which were science repeats to boost my science GPA and last 45) was my strength. I truthfully don’t know anything about their admission policies though so if this cycle is a dud for me then I’ll definitely take your advice and do some more research on them to see if I would be competitive. Thank you!

Should I delete my social media page? I only have Facebook. I have a normal 20something year old page without the embarassing stuff. I don't have any raunchy photos or drinking photos or anything like that. But I have an "edgier" look with visible tattoos, gauged ears, jean jacket vest LOL etc. and not a lot of photos of me in professional clothes. I don't know if they go on social media to find people ever during the application process and judge people on looks. My same sex partner is on my page as well, we aren't being inappropriate in photos, I just don't know if they would also *subconsciously* find that less professional. Thanks for thoughts. No. Those are all normal people things. If you have any posts bashing veterinarians or giving medical advice without a license, those would be far more problematic. Having a same sex partner is not a barrier to admission to vet school.

Does anyone know when Ohio State's supplemental app is due? I applied for a fee waiver due to economic reasons and it takes a few days for them to verify/accept it, and I don't want to have my application thrown away because it missed the deadline. I can't find it on their website.

Based on their website you have 10 days after they send the supplemental app to you to complete it. Applicant Checklist | College of Veterinary Medicine at the top if this page you can click on the "Supplemental Application" hyperlink and it will take you to a page with all the information. I don't believe they will throw it away as they send it once your VMCAS app is verified and some applicants will not have their apps verified before the 17th.

There seem to be dates on the far right of the screenshot. Where do those dates fit in the scheme of your education? As far as grades, I listed mine as test credit or for credit because they didn't have grades.

Don't delete your social media. As long as you aren't breaking laws or anything like that, schools don't really care. They also don't have the time to look up 1000+ people across 3-5 major social media platforms.

Changing your name is fine if you want to. A ton of people at my school do so during 4th year so clients can't find them. There's nothing sketchy about wanting some privacy in an increasingly invasive world. Your social media presence, your rules.

I got an email from ISU telling me I had a message on their portal (but not the actual message), I logged onto the portal by going to the same page as my supplemental and logging in using the same username and PW as for my supplemental, but this trick doesn't appear to work for some other schools. So will they be notifying me of where their portal is? Will they be sending me emails notifying me of messages in my portal?

Depends on the school... some don't have portals and just email you. Some don't notify you of portal messages/changes. There is no standard.

Hey all, I started this process on the pre-med track many years ago and it just occurred to me - should I include the shadowing in human medicine I've done on my application? I have about 60 hours of shadowing in the hospital and OR. I actually already submitted my app a few weeks ago, but it looks like there's an option to add to it. Not sure if it's worth it or not though since I included all of my veterinary shadowing.

I was also on the pre-MD route. interned in a hospital! I included it. it showed that I am not a traditional student and in my opinion, helps me stand out! hopefully I am right LOL

When I applied all my portals were attached to where I submitted supplementals or an email with a link was attached. Otherwise you might just have to go poke around. It should be relatively self explanatory from supplemental/ application instructions though of what that particular school is doing.

I volunteered as a farm hand on my friend's grandparents' farm. Can I add this to my experiences under animal experience? If so how because there wasn't any formal organization and it was just the grandparent's own private farm? I believe the experiences ask for name of organization that's required and I'm not sure what to put here.

Yes, you should list it. Does the farm have a name at all? If not, maybe just list the organization as "LastName's Farm".

I honestly don't think what you put matters too much as long as it's reasonable.

I submitted August 19th and received an email from them on August 27th saying they’d received my VMCAS application.

I just decided to look at the pdf file of each school application and see that one of my degrees (Associates) that I entered under the column saying “verified?” Says “no” and shows a different major listed then what I even entered (now says Pre-Professional, I listed it as Liberal Arts which is exactly what it said on my transcript). Is this going to affect me at all? Everything says verified, and they even said my transcripts were verified so now I’m confused???

Also i hope I worded that correctly, everything says verified but the actual application pdf has the transcript entry from that cc is verified but just says the actual degree is not.

For pet sitting, I'm pretty sure I just put "Self" for the organization. I don't know what your situation is but I watched pets for multiple people so putting their name wouldn't have made sense to me. But like I said before, I don't think it matters too much what you put in the organization field for these sorts of experiences that don't really have an organization as long as whatever you write is reasonable.

Primary school should be the school you got your degree from or took the most classes at. Your transcript (which you should be using to fill out the transcript section) should have your GPA.

They likely just haven’t downloaded your app yet since they’re getting a lot right at this time. It likely will take a bit for them to get through downloading everyone’s app near the end of the cycle.

If we plan to take pre-reqs in the Spring, do we have to list them on VMCAS as planned? I am not sure which college I would like to complete my pre-reqs at yet. I am missing a second biochemistry course for only a couple schools, so what would happen if I get accepted to a program that does not require the pre-reqs I plan to take and I end up not taking my planned courses? Will this negatively affect me?

Yes list them. The schools need to see that you are planning to take them. If you change what college you’re going to take it at, just verify with the school that it still meets their requirements before you take it and it should be fine.

If you get accepted where it’s not a prereq and don’t take the planned course, it shouldn’t affect you, but check with the school before not taking it. You may not find out if you’re accepted until after you enroll in the course and the semester starts though.

Your comment made me curious and I checked my application to see if I had similar issues, and I did. My associates also says not verified, but my bachelors is. So, no real advice to offer other than I will also plan on following up Monday to see why this is as well. Good luck to you!

If they don't include them in my GPAs I still meet minimum but these would definitely help me out. If anyone has done this, I was just wondering where they sent the transcripts? My school uses one of the websites that you can just send it to VMCAS! It is all free but I was just curious.

When I sent my GRE scores in August, it took a day to show up on my VMCAS portal. I read on the ETS website that it normally takes 3-5 business days.

Totally school dependent. Some will take the extra info, others will not. Contact the schools directly for info.

I'm sorry this has happened to you! Unfortunately, the chances of being given an extension for a non-extreme extenuating circumstance (VMCAS mess up, hurricanes, etc) are extremely slim. Try to see if your backup will get that letter in ASAP!

Call vmcas tomorrow morning if there’s nothing missing. They should be able to tell you what the system is flagging or fix it if there’s actually nothing missing.

If it's telling you you're missing documents, then it thinks your missing documents. Calling is the only way to get this cleared up.

I clicked the "i am finished" button because they told me that I couldn't cancel the professional transcript entry to do it myself once I noticed the mistake. Is there anything I can do? I am absolutely panicking.

I thought maybe there would be a separate email and I didn't see it in the supplemental so I submitted and am now feeling like I messed up. The supplemental app was hard to navigate and confusing. Anyone know what would happen if an extra eLOR wasn’t submitted by the deadline? I have my minimum of 3 submitted with one of them being a veterinarian, but I wanted a fourth LOR because it’s from someone I worked very closely with over the summer. She is really pushing the deadline limit and won’t respond to my messages, & I wasn’t sure if my application would be rejected if she failed to submit her letter, even though I already have my 3 minimum? If I have to delete the eLOR request at the last minute to save my app, I will!

I am just realizing after submitting my application through VMCAS that it says it may take up to 4 weeks for the application to be processed and made available to schools. Does this hurt my chances of getting an interview if it takes up to 4 weeks for the schools to see my application? I submitted it today so 1 day before the deadline and I had submitted GRE scores and transcripts 2 months ago.
