Waitlist for 2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They can eat the deposit for the accepted school if they get called off to their dream school!

Ohhhh ok so it's monetary. That makes more sense. I guess that's also why some people get called off waitlists like two weeks before class starts? Because people can still hear back from their dream school after the deposit deadline?

I'm confused about the whole "accepting a spot" situation. I thought if you accept a spot, that means you are officially committed to going to that school. What does accepting a spot actually mean if people are still waiting to hear from other places after having already picked a school? I guess I thought it was an official letter of intent but now I'm confused

It is a signed document saying that you accept the position and agree to pay the non-refundable deposit. Even after that you can still decline the seat later on but you will forfeit the deposit.

When they call you up you have a limited time to accept and some people who are waiting on an alternate spot at a school that they prefer will accept the initial offer and hope that their top choice school will call them up.

I'm right there with you. I moved up to number 1 on my IS waitlist Monday and now I'm super anxious knowing they could call any day!
I feel your pain!! I'm also number 1 on the OOS umn waitlist.. im going crazy over hear waiting for a call lmfaoo. I hope we both get that call soon!

Is there anyone who has accepted a seat somewhere but is holding out hope on a waitlist spot? if yes where? I accepted a seat to St. Georges but am waiting to see if anything happens with LMU
I accepted my spot at Iowa State but am hoping for my IS - UW Madison - to give me a call. Could be a while though

I accepted a spot at the school that I was accepted to (CSU) but will give up this seat if taken off the waitlist at Cornell. It's a standard, albeit super confusing, part of the vet school admissions process and schools know that people do this. It just ensures that I will still be going to vet school in the fall regardless of whether I get off the waitlist. But yes, like others have said, I will have to eat the non-refundable deposit... But so worth it if I end up at my dream school 🙂

Interesting, did CSU start requiring a deposit? They didn't have one when I applied but that was a few cycles ago.

Oh LOL I haven't actually paid a deposit but I just assumed that they would be contacting me soon to put one down since everyone said that veterinary schools require one... That's honestly a big relief to hear

Sorry I'm pretty new to this whole process so I feel like I don't even know what I'm talking about half the time HAHA

I need some advice - I accepted my seat at UPenn and put my deposit down because the deadline was approaching. However, I'm an alternate for my IS (Cornell). Part of me wants to withdraw my seat at Cornell in a few weeks so I can move on with my life/find an apartment in Philly/know where I'm living, but the other part of me wants the cheaper tuition incredibly badly. Any advice on what to do? The anxiety of having my name on Cornell's waitlist until the day Penn starts may kill me.

P.S. Cornell refuses to tell me if the waitlist has moved or where I'm at, so I have no indication of my chances or even if the IS waitlist will be touched this year :uhno:

I feel you. I really feel you.

I also reached out (also an IS alternate for Cornell) and got a very vague, non-answer about the waitlist. I know their hands are tied rn, but it is frustrating. I was told previously that last year only 1 IS alternate was offered a seat, but the year before that there was a handful more.

Cheaper tuition is a big freaking deal. So I guess it becomes a weighing game--which is going to cause you more anxiety, waiting to hear from Cornell or paying more loans in the future?

I would keep your name on the list until you are 100% sure that you wouldn't take the offer if it was given to you. If you think there's even a chance, then you might as well keep yourself on that list.

Anyone else die a little inside when you get a phone call but it's a telemarketer/scam? I've got my hopes riding on getting into vet school off a waitlist, not refinancing loans or luxury cruises
Tell me about it man, I'm waiting on an email, and every time I see that I have a new one I get a mini heart attack.

do any of you know if people who didn’t get accepted was just put on the waitlist for CSU? I know some schools just put everybody who didn’t get in on waitlist but not sure if CSU does that?

I know western said they probably won’t send anything out until mid May, but last year I guess people were hearing in April ahhhhhh

I know- I'm so anxious to hear from Western!! I keep checking everything and then going back to the email that says we won't hear until mid to late May. Hopefully we hear sooner!

So I'm super anxious that I haven't heard from Florida yet. Can I call them? Is that frowned upon? I already emailed once on Tuesday. They never replied. I just want to know if its filled or not and I haven't hear anything. If anyone has any news on Floridas OOS wait list, please let me know.

I definitely think it's okay to call for updates!

OMG YAY !! are you gonna take it since you already sent in your deposit to RVC??
I didn’t pay the deposit for the RVC yet - it’s due May 31st so I took my sweet time incase something like this happened! I have until Thursday to decide but I’m pretty sure I’m going to accept. I have a boyfriend and I’m realiziang getting him a visa for the U.K. may be a challenge. Plus it’s COLORADO.

Do me a favor and send some good will my way 😍

YO SAME dying to hear back from LMU but at the rate that they sent acceptances out last week I feel like I'll never hear from them. As of rn I'm not holding my breath and doing everything I gotta do for SGU (yall finding roommates is the most uncomfy experience ever im having ptsd from freshman year of undergrad lmao) but still staying positive !!

I’m in the same boat but I’m trying to prepare myself to move to st. Kitts for Ross. I really want to live by myself but it’s jsut too expensive

Yeah I feel that the best case scenario I have at SGU is that I'm in a multiple person apartment like up to 5 people total but we each get our own rooms.

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, were you an OS applicant?
Oh, just kidding-- I found your original post! I'm waitlisted for IS at CSU and was wondering if it was moving at all. Hopefully I will be joining you if so, ahhh the waiting is killing me!
