Hypothetically speaking, say you have 0 acceptances at the moment... and let's also say you are on a few waitlists... and let's imagine (note:hope and pray) that you come off of a few waitlists around/after traffic day.
1) Will schools be able to see that you were offered an acceptance off a waitlist after traffic day?
2) Say that after traffic day, you first get accepted off the waitlist at School A, then School B. At that point (if School B can see your acceptance from school A), does School B have to inform School A that they are offering you an acceptance?
3) How long do you have to accept an offer off a waitlist (or does this depend on the school?)
4) After traffic day, how hard is it to switch acceptances if you first get offered an acceptance from School A, accept that, then get accepted to School B and you would rather go there instead?

Sorry for all the questions, but thanks for your help!

After traffic day, you can still only hold a single acceptance. If you are offered a new acceptance from the waitlist, that new school will give you around 5 days to respond. If you choose to accept, you’ll have to withdraw from any other school you hold an acceptance at, usually through their portal or an email/call to the office. Although I’m sure the schools will report your accepted status to AMCAs and that it would be visible to a school you hold an acceptance, it’s incumbent to the applicant to adhere to the one acceptance rule.

JUST GOT MY FIRST ACCEPTANCE! Perfect timing too, I’m on my way to a family wedding and on crutches. I can now answer the dreaded question with, yes, I do know what I’ll be doing with the rest of my life, in fact, I’ll be starting medical school this fall.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Can only imagine what a relief that is.

Thought I would join in. Im waitlisted my state school which is my top choice. The waitlist normally has a lot of movement which is good news. However, this school is regulated by a congressional district law and must take an equal amount of people from each district of the state. I happen to be from the most competitive district so chances are looking pretty dim. Im glad people are getting accepted in this forum it really raises moral. Congratulations to all of y'all!

Lol @ the politics of medical school admissions.

should have all been dentists I think admissions percentages are like 20-30%

Not sure what your trying to say. Overall MD Acceptance rate is about 40%. I am not too familiar with acceptance rate at dental schools but I'd imagine it would be higher than MD.

My guess is that the acceptance rate given was per school, but I know little to nothing about the dental school application process.

I looked up a few schools who individually have like 25% acceptance rates vs med schools where acceptance rates are like less than 5%. I was just joking guys!!

Gotcha, my bad

Ugh, my one waitlist has started moving, and it's ranked and they don't disclose their rankings.

I posted this elsewhere too, but the consensus is it's pointless to send an update to a ranked waitlist school, right? I just won an award at work - the kind where there is a fancy sit down dinner with an awards ceremony. The award's for a low double digit number of people in an eligible pool of ~2-3k people, so it's really not a "yay, you participated!" kind of deal.

I feel like it might have helped me out a hair before I was ranked on this waitlist, but now I don't know. It at least can't hurt, right?

How do you know if a waitlist is ranked?
