I sure hope so... geeeezeIsn't there always a "second wave" (although I feel like the first one never happened) around the 15th since it was two weeks since April 30??
👍👍👍😍😍😍Accepted just now to one of my two wait lists!!! FINALLY!!!!

A lot of the schools I'm WL at had substantial WL movement last year but little to no movement this year. I guess this year, med schools just filled up their classes earlier?![]()
The question is why? It could really just be that a bunch of people only got one acceptance so there’s no open spots. I like to think it’s because the schools are backlogged with something else and are gonna send them out later but who knows for sureYea idk it seems like every school is moving slower- that seems like too much of a coincidence but what do I know!

I hope it's just a delay in processing withdrawals..
this dude wokeThink about it this way- what benefit does a school have by starting WL movement right away on May 1? They can get the best applicants that are still available? I don't think that makes sense, if they liked them so much why are they waitlisted??
I feel like if a school starts right away theres a higher chance that a lot of their initial WL accepts might end up leaving again anyway. With later WL movement I would argue theres more of a "guarantee" that the person may not leave literally due to time constraints with moving etc.
Thats just my guess but then again who knows why all of these schools would push back when they start WL movement compared to prior years. It seems like some schools have a lot but some that historically always have some are only taking 1 person at a time. It could be that they actually are filled up, but then again if no school really drastically changed their acceptance/admission practices since last year idk why that would suddenly happen for everywhere

This is very possible, but the fact that it's happening this year alone (in comparison to previous years) makes me think there's something else happening in the background that we're just not aware ofThink about it this way- what benefit does a school have by starting WL movement right away on May 1? Ya, but it's been a couple of weeks since that happened and at least at the schools I'm WL at, it's a ranked list and they've known the order for a couple of months now so what else do they have to do in sending out WL acceptances? I'm still leaning more towards the fact that people once again are holding onto multiple acceptances due to WL movement or are not giving up their spots on the WL even with an acceptanceAnd there's also the Adcom meeting in Orlando that literally happened on traffic day.

Don't be. My friend at UCSF told me he only got waitlists. And he didn't find out from UCSF until July!this process is making me sad
I thought people had 5 days to decide on an acceptance off the waitlist, not two weeks?Like DeMarcus Cousins pointed out, there might be a second wave coming. It's been 2 weeks since waitlisted applicants received their offers on April 30th, and I'm guessing they have around 2 weeks to drop their acceptances/waitlists. I really do think the meeting in Orlando had an impact on the whole timing of things, but then again, I might be too much of an optimist hahaha.
So early in the waitlist time frame, it’s usually two weeks to decide, but a minimum of 5 days is recommended by AAMCI thought people had 5 days to decide on an acceptance off the waitlist, not two weeks?
Do you have overlap with Arizona-Tucson? If so, have you seen anything? It's pretty quiet today, just Hawaii and Rush.
@gyngyn posts whenever he/she sees stuff. So if you don't see anything, gyngyn doesn't see it. No need to keep asking.Do you have overlap with Arizona-Tucson? If so, have you seen anything?
Hey, just wanted to join the support group. Waiting nervously and anxiously like everyone else who is on a waitlist and who doesnt have an acceptance
Sorry @TigerHeel I didn't mean for that to come off rude.Do you have overlap with Arizona-Tucson? If so, have you seen anything?
If I see anything I'll let you know.@gyngyn hi thanks for all the help and info you have been giving! I was wondering if you know if another batch of acceptances went out for Ucsd today. I know Tuesday is the day they seem to have been making decisions this year. Sitting head praying
Man I hope you’re right and all the adcoms are just behind because they had too much fun at Disneyworld.. I mean the aamc meeting 😛Like DeMarcus Cousins pointed out, there might be a second wave coming. is this a bad year for WL movement relative to past years or are we just being delusional?
On 6 WL, 4 of which had substantial WL movement based on past years' threads. However, with this year when May came along, no one posted any acceptances. Only crickets...
Haha same. Like when do we accept plan B? The night before?I'd give it till the end of the week. Then after that it's time to focus on plan B.

Plan B was initiated a month ago, I have officially lost hope.
Don't think they are getting to me lol... I may be in last placeWS is actually still moving at a decent speed though...

Lol were probably both in the very bottom of bottom tier. If they can't handle us at the bottom they don't deserve us at our best.
(srs)
Jk please take us Boonshoft even if we're at the very bottom.
All I'm saying is, Plan B was initiated a while ago.I guess that's makes three of us at the bottom of the waitlist lol
However, just for those wondering about relative timeline, I found this in another recent thread from what appears to me as a reliable source about waitlist movement timeline.
"Lets clarify this as its seems most people have the timing skewed neglecting the cascade effect (acceptees now going on WL which means that school may have an acceptee coming from WL who may have been with another school, etc).
1) mid to late April, acceptees start putting in final acceptance some WL movement
2) April 30: Final acceptances for all
3) May 1-15. Schools adjust their acceptance list, start sending out WL in earnest
4) May 7-30 (yes overlap). WL students respond
5) June 1-15 consider the second wave of WL so to speak, less than first but the cascade continues.
6) June 7-30. WL students respond. Most WL is over but not all
I had a Ivy take advisee off of WL last July which in turn cascaded her spot at previous school.
I wouldnt consider the WL season 'over' until end of June"

Guys....people are definitely still holding on to multiple acceptances. I have a couple of friends who are...
