would love help on finalizing my med school list!
just graduated, applying as im taking one gap year. planning on working as a clinical research assistant during my gap year

my ec's

- highest honors on research thesis

- 2000 hours on research, both wet-lab and on social determinants of health

- co-author on manuscript

- 1000+ hours in community service with underserved communities (service fellowship)

- 400 hours EMT, 200 hours volunteer MA

- 800 hours as a TA (with college courses and TFA Ignite)

- passionate about neuroscience research + medicine accessibility for underserved/diverse populations

- hope to be in an urban/suburban environment

I'm applying to all NC schools: Wake Forest, ECU, UNC, Duke, Campbell. outside of that:

What the heck is up with admit's algorithm? No disrespect intended, but when did 3.69/511 make you a strong applicant for Duke? (I need more information about your upbringing in NC. Maybe it's the Americorps/TFA activities?) I think Einstein may also be too far of a reach, even though your SDH research may make you interesting.

lmao i put duke because im from NC and einstein bc i was reaching for the moon (applying broadly and what not) i have a really strong research resume so i was hoping i had a chance of swinging them. also duke has a rlly diverse population and i have a strong interest/resume in working with that demographic already
