Not sure if others have this problem but when I get nervous my mouth gets really dry...
I noticed in my mock interview that i really needed some water otherwise my mouth gets dry and sticky...

Is it bad etiquette to bring in a small water bottle with you? The woman i did my mock with said it should be fine if I leave it at my feet and try to only take sips between Q's or when the interviewer is talking.... but honestly sometimes I am mid-answer and just feel like i cant continue w/out taking a small sip.

In the end i think Id rather have water than annoy the hell out of my interviewer with the horrible sound of your tongue sticking to your palate!
Thoughts??

i would be as discrete about it as possible. definately don't do it during an answer. and, depending on the length of the interview, sometimes the interviewer even has some liquid refreshments. i would think out of pure consideration for the interviewer, try to take a small sip between questions, because I know if I were interviewing you and you were drinking while I was asking you a question, I might find that a bit rude, as if you weren't listening to me. but that's me, and i'm not an interviewer. you want to be as comfortable during your interview as possible, and if you feel like your dry mouth will distract you that much, then your answers might be horrible with out the water because you're not concentrating on your answer/the question as much as you should. bring it, be discrete, and after you've answered the question completely.

I have the same problem. I brought in a small water bottle, and at one point in the interview I said "Would you mind if I took a sip of water?" or something to that effect. The interviewer said "of course not, I'm drinking too".

I bet he was.

my interviewer offered me a bottle of water when i walked in and had one himself. i dont think it's rude unless u are chugging it to avoid answering a question or something. 👍

Most interviews I've had, there was a bottle of water available and a cup. I wouldn't do what I did last year though - compulsively take sips during the interview. That cup of water might be the reason I'm still frequenting this messageboard.

i may need a bottle of vodka to calm down 🙂
i don't think it would be a big deal though if it was water
