when are we going to get our clin med grades back?
Maybe.... just maybe, by the time we take the Step 2 CS. But, that might be expecting too much.Shangal said:when are we going to get our clin med grades back?
oldjeeps said:Yes, those fees hit you at registration and as has already been stated you have to be registered before WSU gets your FA$. Then there is the time it takes WSU to get your FA check to you.
The other thing is that Fin Aid managed to arrange things so that the student support fee (now $1050) is now incorportated into the rest of the tuition bill (read don't need that check at registration).
I am sure that there is cheaper health insurance out there. I would suggest that you start doing your research/shopping on that topic. There were some rumors about a "required health insurance plan" that the dean of SA killed with an e-mail - but it remains to be seen if such a thing might happen in the future. Either way, if you are fortunate enough to still be on a family member's (spouse, parents, etc) health insurance it is a non-issue.
LGW said:I have already decided to go to Wayne, but there is one school that I interviewed at that I never heard from. Should I submit an e-mail in case I'm still being considered?
LGW said:Well knowing about the waiver helps!!!!
I receive all of my health benefits through the VA and I don;t know if that is considered health "insurance" so I've contacted Recs and Regs about that.
However,if I do have to obtain another form of health insurance, is any plan acceptable or does it have to be something specific? I know of a health plan that would cost me $30/month, but I have to make sure that it is sufficient!

At least it will be over soon. Then I'll have time to study genetics!![]()
Grrrr... I hear you. I got so pissed off reading his notes on Flow-metabolism coupling where he goes: yeah nobody knows this for sure, and there is a lot of debate... but, and proceeds to follow it with a laundry list of convoluted minutia. Writing F*** You DeGracia in the margin of my notes made me feel a little better though.katrinadams9 said:Anyone else getting nervous about neuro yet? Orientation. Almost anything you find on the website pertaining to current first years will apply to you. The change almost nothing from year to year.LGW said:When will WSU be putting out the Year 1 2005-2006 Schedule/Curriculum/Booklist?
Agreed!oldjeeps said:my brain hurts.
ddmoore54 said:Agreed!
oldjeeps said:Hopefully that means there will be a nice low average. Especially since I do not think that another day of studying would have helped me any where did they pull some of those questions ( 😱 ) out of?
Current (post exam) odds that Ill be back in Scott Hall this summer to retake Neuro: way too high
dancinjenn said:I don't want to study for genetics!!! boo-hoo-hoo. And my brain hurts from Neuro too much.
fun8stuff said:So we have a week of orientation... what exactly goes on during this week??
Flobber said:Can't you see that we're in pain here!![]()
As for your question: absolutely nothing. And they will tell you that the small group presentations on financial aid and other assorted useless topics are mandatory, but by God they are not!
One more exam... then I will do my best to drink myself into a thiamin deficiency, leading to..... CONFABULATORY AMNESIA! God I'm awesome.
Its 1:30 am and I just breached page 100 of Genetics. Two days to get through the other 184 pages. Woohoo.
Thrice said:Hey guys, sorry to interrupt the conversation but I know a lot of 09 students read this thread (including me, Holla for 09!!!) and that plenty of them are still looking for housing.
I did the whirlwind tour of the downtown apartments this weekend and a put some pictures and comments about what I liked about them (and didnt like) up on a website:
Detroit Downtown Apartments
Hopefully it helps.
fun8stuff said:I can't imagine the stress.. i think it's especially weird that your neurophys prof is into the occult and comic books.... does the administration know about his work?! i can't believe i will be in your position in a year. In my molecular genetics class, we barely did 200 pages of notes in 15 weeks... i can't imagine doing that many in only a month 😱 good luck!
MD'05 said:Get used to it. Wait until you must read 300 pages of notes in 2 weeks. And to master the material you must read the notes twice. This is called second year, buckaroo.

Flobber said:YAY, the perpetual downer is back! I was starting to feel hopeful and content with my life... thanks for putting a stop to that.![]()
MD'05 said:Oh, I am sooo sorry. Life is just great. Leaving again.

Flobber said:Angriest.. man... ever.
oldjeeps said:Actually as memory serves from earlier posts by md05 you meant to say
"Angriest.. WOman.. ever."
Flobber said:Really? I stand corrected then. 🙂
oldjeeps said:Now don't try to scare the incoming first year too badly. That is role of first year - too build us up to being able to deal/cope with that volume of material. Besides who said anything about actually being able to master any of this material?
CeLo said:Does anyone else just not care anymore? I just haven't been able to study as intensely as I usually do. I just keep thinking, this time tomorrow, we'll be done. I'm really glad genetics is last, if I was studying neural pathways today, I'd be really unhappy. Good luck everyone!![]()
dancinjenn said:Flobber, I hope your right because I just can't seem to concentrate...hence me being on here, again. But all of the prof's went out of their way to say "worry" or "don't worry" about stuff, and that the old exams are very representative of this one... I just can't wait for it to be over.
Everybody going to Exodos?
Flobber said:Angriest.. man... ever.
MD'05 said:I'll check back with you at the end of second year. I sincerely hope you can maintain your positive outlook. They beat the optimism right out of me. However, since Dr. Wheeler is leaving, you guys might have a great second year.
oldjeeps said:Wheeler's bad? I thought that I had heard good things about him.
Since us lowly first years haven't heard anything about his leaving; have you heard anything about who is going to be taking his place?
MD'05 said:He's a nice guy. He just writes excellent test questions. He probably won't leave. I think he's pissed that he wasn't made interim dean of basic science. Or has that changed?
CeLo said:I think I have you beat... 11:30 was SO long ago! 🙂 Actually, I stopped studying a while ago but I'm so wired on caffeine I can't sleep even though I'm so tired I feel like I'm going to throw up. 10 hours until we're done!
