Shangal said:clinical medicine grades are out. They gave out 2 grades for class participation, 80 or 100%s. It's sad that I put so much effort in this class and I end up in the bottom of the class because my class leader thought I deserved an 80. When I did decently in everything else. I wish I was in one of those classes where everyone got a 100. I feel like I should complain but I don't know who to. This is the most unfair grade I ever got in my life.

oldjeeps said:I agree - it just doesn't seem right to call myself a second year, yet. Especially after the amount of time I spent grumbling about those annoying second years and their bad advice. I will probably start calling myself a second year sometime in late July (like the day before classes start up).
I have been using the line that "I have just finished (or, depending on the audience, survived) my first year"
fun8stuff said:don't most incoming M1s call themselves, "pre-m1"... so perhaps you could call yourself a pre-m2 😉
so when do classes start for u guys?
Talked the the counselor the other day, and she said I along with others who aren't questionable grade-wise have been promoted.fun8stuff said:don't most incoming M1s call themselves, "pre-m1"... so perhaps you could call yourself a pre-m2 😉

So, I'll just be calling myself a 2nd year.

If it was completely straight-forward, there would be no need for a promotions committee. I am sure the people who could be considered such know who they are. I doubt there would be any surprises.oldjeeps said:I wonder what they consider to be questionable grade-wise. Does anybody know? My impression was that it was fairly straightforward; either you passed or you didnt.

dancinjenn said:Here's my thoughts.
Since we seem to have some regular WSU SOM posters on here I thought about making a thread where we could discuss classes, bash prof's, and generally let off steam...without a title on the thread that leads everyone to believe that WSU sucks.
What do ya'll think? Well I know what I think...
So let the debate/ranting/questions begin!
ambrosia said:I'm going to be starting at Wayne in August, and am just wondering what kinds of things all you guys who just finished your first year are doing this summer? I'm hoping to be able to either do research or go on a medical trip somewhere, so it would be interesting to hear what kinds of things you guys are doing.
Thanks.
dancinjenn said:Oy, summer is almost 1/2 over...boo hoo. How is everyone doing? I have been sooo lazy lately.
oldjeeps said:Glad to hear that I am not the only one that has been being lazy. Or at least lazy when I am not busy going to one of the multiple jobs/experiences that I was crazy enough to line up for the summer.
Really wishing that this summer was a bit longer - I don't have enough time to get everything done that I wanted to 🙁, and am afraid that some of my needed down time might end up getting sacrificed 😡 .
fun8stuff said:Hey guys... just wondering if there is anything we incoming M1s should be gettin before class starts? What were those good review books for anatomy? BRS, netters, and what? Will we need a microscope? Stethoscope? Oto-opthalmoscope???
thanks..

fun8stuff said:It seems weird that they would want a copy of your acceptance...
AStudent said:500th post, w00t.
Anywho, I think they meant they want an "acceptance" of the offer, not a copy of your acceptance letter.
fun8stuff said:Well I got an email back from Dawn Street and confirmed the program, but not why i some of us got it and others didnt.
So did any of you guys get any campus based aid? Are you taking out the full amount of loans?
AStudent said:Yeah, I got some campus aid from the Board of Governors and I'm taking the full amount I can now because interest rates are low (actually went up from like 2.5 to like 4.5% today) and whatever I don't use this year I'll just carry over to next year or use during the summer.
First year I think it's better to take out as much as you can (because interest rates will be lower now than in years 2-4) so you can learn how much school is going to cost and have a little cushion for things like stocking your ap artment up I say it's worth it.
