Does anyone know if there's a max number of times you can apply to WCVM? I know some schools have restrictions... just curious!

I know what won't get you one 😉
Below a 3.3 is unlikely
Probably above a 3.6 would be my guess
I could probably ask the BC kids that got in
Not sure if it's changed since, but when I applied and re-took a course they weighted the initial mark and the second mark equally.
I read that as "I know you won't get one 🙂" and was very sad.
Oops! Sorry!
I know from the experience of several years with no interviews... Wishing I knew then what I know now! oh well!
Just out of curiosity, how many interviews did you end up having (if you want to share that?) Also just wondering about your class in general... are there many people who have applied just one or two times?
Hey guys, I need some advice/ your thoughts. I'm taking a full courseload, 5 courses this semester. I'm not doing so well in one of my classes.(I'm doing OK in the other classes so far...) Actually, I've never done so badly in a class in my entire life. I've gotten below-average marks before, but never anything this terrible 🙁 I feel like a complete failure.... Could one class ruin my chances? That's all I keep thinking about. I can't sleep or eat or anything and have this perpetual headachey feeling and can't concentrate on anything. Have any of you had experiences like this? I've been feeling like this for about a week and cannot get this bad grade out of my head! Sorry I just felt like I needed to get it off my chest 🙁 All I can think of is how this class will drop my GPA, eliminating any chance of me getting in this year. I've never felt this stressed out in my life before :'( To put it in perspective, I'm looking at a C+ in this class, and I only have A- GPA. I spent much time calculating out every scenario of my final grades in all my classes, and no matter how I spin it, I end up dropping. How do I stop being so obsessive?
Thanks for the reassurance guys! I'm feeling a little better... But I still can't help but think that I have no more hope. This term is just so stressful that it's getting to me.
Why oh why is it so hard for me to calm down?? I'm just a really anxious person in general so... Yeah but I talked with my professor. That was a new experience for me - never ever have I had to go beg in desperation for help from a prof. But he was really understanding and willing to guide me along for the last bit of the course. I should have done this much sooner. hopefully I come out wit a semi-decent grade.
hi . I need 6 credits of Math and 6 credits of English . What is the best way to get them ? Can I do it via distant education program ?
And age issue also , I might be over 30 by the time I get in WCVM ... is it worrying ?
Are you a veterinarian already? From the Ukraine? Is it not possible to challenge the NAVLE in that case?.
Thank for the answers in the both threads . Yes I am . Yes I am from Ukraine . NAVLE seems a bit tricky for me ( but might try it if WCVM won't work out ) .Are you a veterinarian already? From the Ukraine? Is it not possible to challenge the NAVLE in that case?
I don't know much about distance Ed courses. I would just make sure they transfer to the courses you need as pre-reqs. I had to retake an English because I did it at a college and UCVM didn't accept it as a transfer.
As for age, I wouldn't worry about it. Over 30 you will be out numbered, but you won't be the only one.
Thank you . That's great help for me .I think it can be a bit more tedious depending on circumstances. I work with several veterinarians who got their degree in other countries. One went through the WCVM here, although many years ago, and 2 others wrote the exams.
A doctor from Colombia had a lot of hoops to jump through. He had had English proficiency tests, and I think about 2 other exams before the NAVLE, plus a large practical portion. In all, I think it was a 2 or 3 year process for him. I'm not sure about the other doctor, she was from Austria and had done this many years ago as well. But it definitely doesn't hurt to look into alternatives. The doctor who went through the WCVM doesn't regret it, and she had 2 young children at the time. The doctors who wrote the exams didn't either. It just depends what you're comfortable with.Good luck.
BTW do you have any ideas how many applicants were from Manitoba ? This is where I reside .
Thanks again for Your time Leila .
Thank you Leila .Well, if it takes 2-3 years just to study up, what's the extra year, when you get to study for the NAVLE with a bunch of classmates! Makes things way easier when you have that support...
This little article says the exact numbers accepted in this year.

One was a deferral. I think MB usually brings in 15, but I think if there are identical applicants (as far as their fun formulas calculate) they accept the people on the cusp. So this year BC and MB got one extra, and Yukon got two.
At U of S ? How long did it take ? coz ill need 6 cred of E and 6 cred of MI had to retake an English because I did it at a college and UCVM didn't accept it as a transfer..
Could you shed light on ?

Thank you for you time .
Thank you Leila .
I meant Total Applicants because on website outdated information for 2010 - 50 applicants . And you are right about quota for MB on typical years, it is 15 .

Ahhh... Sorry about that. I don't know how many applied from MB. It is fairly consistent I believe. There might be someone on here if you search around the past application cycle who would have received that number.
I think it's fairly close to what Saskatchewan has... I was told the ratio is roughly 3:1 applicants to seats for SK/MB, and more like 6:1 for BC/AB. I know that's rough numbering, but it gives a general idea at least.
How their credits different from ours ? How many academic hours each credit consist of ?Prerequisite Courses
Biological Sciences - 1.0 credits (with recommended emphasis on animal biology)
Cell Biology - 0.5 credits
Genetics - 0.5 credits
Biochemistry - 0.5 credits
Statistics - 0.5 credits (requires a Calculus prerequisite to take the Statistics course)
Humanities/Social Sciences - 1.0 credits (In selecting these courses from among those acceptable, the prospective veterinary student should consider topics such as ethics, logic, critical thinking, determinants of human behaviour and human social interaction.)
U of Guelph

UCVM hears about two weeks prior to the interview date (second last saturday in march approximately) and WCVM has two rounds -- mid-late april and early may. I think you hear a few weeks ahead or so. Can't remember my exact dates from last year.
When I saw your message my heart stopped a little for you...then I read what you wrote haha.
For those who have gotten an interview in past years... when abouts did you hear about it? When does UCVM hear?
If you have good grades, you'll be in the first round of interviews. If you're in school during January, often they will wait until those grades come in before they make their decisions on the second round, and may email for you to respond with unofficial grades whenever they get posted.
What constitutes "good grades"? I remembered seeing in the brochure the average acceptance grades are between 78%-86%. I'm a little nervous because my school seems to be unusual in regards to marking scheme, where 80% is an "A", so I have a 3.9 GPA but only an 83% average... I also attended another school for half my degree (u of calgary) that needed 90% to get an A and still had mostly a's haha so I feel like my new school choice may have been a bad idea![]()
Don't stress. They convert everything... I worked with a vet who had the same thing; she was at U of C but then transferred to Saskatoon. She thought she was screwed when they told her her average in the interview but she ended up getting in. You may not be able to convert it... I'm not sure what calculation they use. You can probably ask Heather on this one. She's good at providing information, especially with respect to grades/planning.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... if you get an interview, it is possible even if you're in the dead last position to make it into the class. You just have to nail the interview. Don't sweat the small things. You'll just have to wait for your offer like the rest of us 🙂

I know, so frustrating!!! Anyone know why they do it like this? I don't understand why they don't start the process earlier.
