Pasquini is a helpful anatomy textbook. You will probably use it for first year anatomy and first year neuro.

You have all of your lectures together until the second half of third year. For labs you get broken up into sections (sometimes halves, sometimes quarters depending on the lab). So like, one afternoon half of you will have physiology lab, and half will have something else, and then you swap later.

Also, at one point you guys are assigned a second year buddy and a fourth year buddy. At least, you're supposed to. I'm not sure if 2016 ever got 4th year buddies, but you should have one eventually. They're usually assigned in early August.

I am friends with someone who is going into second year vet and she said you can do just fine with a MAC and not to worry...and that it isnt worth going out and buying a new computer (i.e. if you have a mac and go buy a pc) cause its just for one class.

Oh crap. Just had a look at the requirements for the microscopy laptop & the MacBook Air won't work! It doesn't hook up to an ethernet cable. Um, now what? New laptop just for histology?!

There is WIFI in the classrooms. A few people in my class used macs without a problem.

The Ethernet definitely works faster, but it's not required to used Olivia. You can access Olivia from home.

That I... do not know. That is a lot of edition changes. The most confusing part is with assigned readings because the page numbers won't match up, but I'm guessing the sections will mostly be the same.

Yeah, all the administrative people changed so they forgot to until later I think. We got assigned fourth year buddies in August when I started but my buddy never actually messaged me or emailed me or contacted me in any way, so I never found out who they were, whereas some people had buddies who took them into the field with them and had them over for dinner and stuff. Definitely varies by person!

I'm so excited to start packing up and move... but also a bit concerned because the friend who had offered me to live with her hasn't gotten back to me since originally mentioning it to me. Yeah, my brother was asked to evacuate his basement suite. He's got a huge doberman and 2 cats. I'm seriously hoping his place doesn't get damaged...!

I've seen photos and video footage. I was near tears seeing zoo island. 🙁 It was one of those moments of helplessness because there isn't anything I can do from here.

Just to change topic for a second here... Because it's Monday and you could use some motivation.
I just want to say that it's funny how things work out. My backup plan for life was Pharmacy, and I applied for the first time last year since I had been several times unsuccessful for vet med. Clearly was not accepted to either program. But I applied again this year just in case, and got into both. Sorry pharmacy... you had your chance!
At least I know I'll make someone's day by declining the spot. And it goes to show that hard work definitely pays off!!! To all you potential c/o 2018-ers; you can do whatever you apply yourself to!! Steel your resolve, and you can attain whatever goals you set for yourself 🙂

I doubt their call line is open now... but some of the courses are requiring I enter start and stop dates and then won't accept them. not that I'm overly worried about it (obviously it wont fill up on me) but if someone has a quick fix i'd rather get it over with tonight!

yeah I did that too and only got 18 credits, and so 5 courses are missing. I guess it's a glitch in their system, I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon

I bought mine at Mark's. They can call around to find the appropriate size if they don't have it in stock, or will order it in for you.

I got mine from Peavey Mart a few years ago. I don't remember the brand, but I got a child's XL which was convenient because they were the same size as adult S, but weren't too long. I'm short... those things matter. 😛

No haven't yet. I was creepin' the page too and saw last year's stuff. A friend told me that they really used the anatomy text, but that not much else was used and to see what you can get away with not having. For me it will depend on how expensive the books are as to whether I wait or not I think.

A kitten came into our clinic that had been closed in the recliner. The femoral head was broken off of the femur and the bone was displaced such that there was no chance to heal without surgery. She was slated for euthanasia, but since I was looking for a kitten anyways, I offered to take her and use my staff discount to pay for the surgery. I mean... she still has 8 lives left, right? After speaking the the HR manager, she was confident that even while I was in school, they would at least allow me to make small payments for the surgery over time. She ran her estimate by the owner of the practice, who knows I don't have hundreds of dollars kicking around. She spoke with the doctor who performs FHO surgeries and they agreed that if he came in on his free time for the surgery, they would do it at no cost for me. Lucky me! And GREAT news for kitten. 🙂 I'll post pictures of her pre- and post-op soon.

Hey peeps, may be a dumb question but WCVM doesn't have a restriction on course load do they? I can't remember if someone told me otherwise or not. I'm only registered for 4 in both semesters this year and I'm wondering if that's frowned upon.

Nope. 4 courses per semester = full course load. There is no official restriction but if you take less than that it may not help your case since they wonder if you can handle the demands of the program once you're in.
