He began to tap out the beat with his feet, then his hand took over the rhythm on the small drum. The fiddler behind him nodded at the pick up; the strings of her fiddle coming to life as she played the first notes of the famous tune. The song they played was well-known throughout the Gaeltacht. It told of the time when the luchthonn, or "wolf-skins," hunted alongside the fianna, and of the legendary heroes who sought to destroy them...

(Game structure)

General Setup & Rules

• Unless otherwise specified, lynch close will be at 10pm Eastern and night close will be at 10am Eastern. The first cycle of the game will not follow this timeline.
• No screenshots. No direct quoting of mod PMs.
• No communication about the game is allowed outside of mod-defined communication channels. Please add me to all player-created PMs.
• Ties will be resolved as follows: coin toss to determine if no one dies or if a player will die. If the latter, a second coin toss will determine which player has the luck o' the Irish that day.

Special Mechanics

• This game contains a participation incentive. Players will be rewarded with gold pieces for good participation. These pieces of gold may be exchanged for items and other advantages, or used to bargain with certain players. A full description of the rates and available items will be delineated in a following post.
• We will start this game on a mayor election cycle, which will end at 6pm Eastern tomorrow, at which point we will enter a long night cycle. Each province will vote amongst themselves, on the thread, to elect a druid conduit to the Tuatha Dé Danann (e.g. the players in Connacht will vote on thread to elect a leader from Connacht), for a total of four leaders. These honored individuals will each receive one of the Four Treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Roles will be sent out as the druid election is taking place, as the treasures may be wielded by either side.
• In general, communication is permitted with the player below you in the roster, but within your province. E.g. Player 1 may open a PM with Player 2, and Player 5 may open a PM with Player 1 (not Player 6, who starts the game in Leinster).

Obtaining Gold
Each day, players who meet the participation minimum will be awarded 1 gold piece.

"Participation" means 3 content posts on the thread per day, plus a lynch vote. What constitutes a "content post" will be at the discretion of the mod, but in general, game-related replies to other players and/or stand-alone posts that advance game strategy in some way will be accepted as content posts.

Small amounts of gold may also be obtainable in other ways.

Possessing Gold
A maximum of 5 pieces may be held by a player at any given time. Gold must be spent before accumulating more.
Players may not pool their gold.
Gold may be exchanged for benefits, as described below.

Exchanging Gold
2 gold pieces = allows players to bargain with certain players
3 gold pieces = successfully bribe certain players and/or unlock special player mechanisms (passive actions)
4 gold pieces = Buy a single-use féth fíada (invisibility cloak) to move to new area overnight. Players moving under the cover of a féth fíada will be un-targetable by other players during their move.

Potatoes can be sold to the mod in exchange for 2 gold pieces.

Extra Luck may be available to those who are...lucky?

I almost broke my rule on self-nomination, because of how I felt about my fellow candidates. But I expect to be extra busy, and besides, voting for yourself is like giving yourself your own nickname, it's for wankers and douchebags. Get it? Self-gratification, wanking?

Stagg is my evil child and I like to think I can read him. I can read AM, but I feel she gets a lot of time in the limelight and it's time to hand the baton elsewhere. I'm not sure muttmanager and grebes are ready for the responsibility, and I'm not sure I can read mutt. Maybe I can read grebes, I dunno.

And that is my thought process. I'll be getting back to work now.

I was planning on being a vet until some point in hs. I actually shadowed a bunch of vets and interviewed a few but then changed my mind junior or senior year when I got into cardiology. I still love animals and know a ton more about them than most people (probably not vets, lol) so there is that too.
