I am taking that as they aren’t sending out any interviews unless people decline offers. Even then, there are people waitlisted. So I assume no interviews will go out for those of us who haven’t heard anything.
If these do end up becoming rejections, I can’t believe it took them this long to get back to us…I am taking that as they aren’t sending out any interviews unless people decline offers. We’re supposed to hear back within the end of April… so hopefully they get back to us within these next two days as promised…Its just weird because if there’s even a slight possibility for more interviews, that must mean the number of enrolled is low? But then again if the number of enrolled is low you’d expect more people to have gotten off the waitlist? lol
I emailed and they told me the same thing. Anytime from now until Mid-May. I wish they were more communicative about these changes and extensions in timelines.Anyone get an update?
I originally thought about commuting but I unfortunately live closer to santa monica and it's a 53 mile commute to get to western. Not to even think about the traffic, I drive an older car which I know wouldn't last one semester much less years doing 500+ miles a week. I've heard you don't have to be on campus a crazy amount of hours, so I think for you it would really just depend on if you're ok with the wear on your car and traffic. It's going to add to my debt but I decided it would be best to move closer to campusDoes anyone else live in the LA area and will be commuting? I’m not sure if I should move a bit closer but moving just creates a whole new stressful situation for me and my dog. Rn I live with a roommate who also has a small dog and he really needs company or he gets super anxious. We also help eachother out with taking care of the dogs if one of us is home late. I also have moves a lot so it’s not something I want to do necessarily. Does anyone know the schedule for being on campus? And also wondering how often students go on weekends and stuff to study like for anatomy lab.
Awesome thanks for this! I do live close to dtla like border of k town and echo park so it looks like the 10 freeway will be the route I take. I’ve been checking in the mornings on my way to work the traffic level for that time and it seems pretty clear! Most ppl will be going the opposite direction during rush hour so I’m happy about that. It will probably take about 45-1hr commute each way which isn’t bad. Plus for clinicals and rotations in 3rd and 4th year they are usually in the LA area so I will just stay here 🙂I also live in LA and will be commuting! Actually in SFV so a little farther than if I lived in DTLA. I asked a couple of doctors I know who went to Western what the schedules were like and one said sometimes she was on campus 9-5 and other times 9-3 or 9-12 (but she lived nearby) and both said it was about 17-18 hours of class a week depending. I’m sure we’ll get a better idea of the schedules once we register in July!
True SM is really far to commute from. I mean you likely would be going the opposite direction during way of traffic so that would help but still a lot of driving to get thru LA and then head to Pomona. I think moving is a good choice. I wouldn’t want to be in my car that much lolI originally thought about commuting but I unfortunately live closer to santa monica and it's a 53 mile commute to get to western. I think they will probably exhaust the waitlist before granting further interviews… but even then it would be like prob June by that point and doesn’t leave much time for ppl to make moves or get stuff in order to attend :/ I think you can possibly defer your admission tho? Or is that not a thing? I guess they did this last year due to too many ppl accepting so I’m guessing this year they are being SUPER cautious not to have that happened again. Sorry I don’t know but one of my coworkers is still on waitlist as far as I’ve heard. It’s just weird because if there’s even a slight possibility for more interviews, that must mean the number of enrolled is low? there are people who interviewed already and were neither waitlist, accepted nor rejected yetDoes anyone know how far down the waitlist they've gotten?
Historically, WesternU doesn't rank their waitlist. The way you get off the waitlist is if someone who is similar to you in stats and experiences declines their spot. This is how they try to keep their class diverse. I'm not sure if this is still true since a lot seems to have changed this cycle, but this is what they've done in the past. They also usually take people off of the waitlist in batches. It sounds like they haven't removed a batch of people off the waitlist since the due date to accept/decline your seat. Maybe next week since they keep mentioning mid-May?Does anyone know how far down the waitlist they've gotten?
It does take a while for some students, the majority will likely get emails back sooner than later but I know there have been a small number of students who only get a decision back a week before orientation (this was true in my class and I'm sure it was true for classes previous to mine). Again this is not the case for the majority of the incoming class, and I wouldn't hold your hopes on this exclusively, but it is possible. Hope this helps! Wish you the best!Still radio silence from western…
That’s wildHas anyone else heard back? I sent them an email asking about an update and they responded with this.
They told me mid-May. I’ve never been more disappointed in a school lolHas anyone else heard back? I sent them an email asking about an update and they responded with this.
They told me end of May 💀 Why can’t they just reject or waitlist people b/c that’s gotta be what this isThey told me mid-May. I’ve never been more disappointed in a school lol
It’s so confusing and frustrating. I feel like they should’ve at least sent out rejections this far out. They told me end of May 💀 Why can’t they just reject or waitlist people b/c that’s gotta be what this is
My coworker was taken off the waitlist on Tuesday night as well and will be accepting his seat.Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that I have been extremely fortunate enough to taken off the waitlist. I will be accepting my position but just wanted to provide an update since I know that there are many people still waiting. Not sure how true this is or not, but I did receive the "continued interest" email yesterday and was taken off the waitlist today. This might suggest that a "continued interest" email precedes someone being taken off of the waitlist, but of course, there is no way to confirm. Hoping the best for everyone else!
That’s crazy. At this point why not at least just send rejections to those that haven’t interviewed if they know they are not offering any more interviews.I reached out and this is what they said… so it sounds like anyone who has not gotten an interview yet is getting a rejection soon 🙁 View attachment 404207
I interviewed back in December and have not heard anything besides from when I had to contact them myselfanyone who interviewed that has been waiting -have you received anything back yet?
Interviewed first week of January and it's bbeen nothing but radio silence since :')anyone who interviewed that has been waiting -have you received anything back yet?
Same! I don't understand why they would still send an update when I withdrew my application months ago LOLI withdrew my application in January and the form was received/processed- except I was just sent a formal rejection letter via portal this evening. I hope my application wasn't still in the pool still.
Got an email yesterday that I was offered a seat as an alternate. Interviewed in JanuaryHas anyone else who interviewed gotten an update yet?
