Hmm...and the plot continues to thicken....A-N-A-T-O-M-Y..

Nebraska anyone?

I might be in the market for a roomate after this exam!!

sorry for invading your thread guys, but quick question for anyone out there....the laptops required, what capacity are they used in?

oh one more, the labs, like for biochem, etc., they aren't set up like in undergrad are they?

Thanks !!

Hey H-town,
Laptops are used for the number of professors who will use powerpoint presentations for their lectures and/or other materials they sometimes give out. A sizeable amount of communication in the form of emails and announcements (COMP has a system on the network that is a forum for professors to post files, make announcements, etc.) are also common uses for the laptop. In addition, classmates send out study aids and other materials sometimes. Depending on how computer savvy you are, you can also take notes on the laptop or look up medical websites. Additionally, there are resources you can put on your laptop such as Netter's anatomy atlas, Stedman's medical dictionary, etc.

Currently, the only lab we physically went to during basic sciences was microbio lab, but I'm not sure if they are continuing that next year.. depends on the curriculum. There is no biochemistry lab. We also have lectures for path and histology labs and they allot time to study path and histology slides that we can access on the internet or in powerpoint presentations.

sammy stop fattening up the pigeons!! can't you read the signs? i know how much you enjoy the stew, but, it's gone too far. i dunno why you seem to enjoy those flying rats.

first i rule the class, next step, I RULE THE WORLD, mwahahaha!!! oh, did i say that out loud...

anyway, it's crunch time. i'm sitting here just wondering what exactly the difference is between a pustular, puritic, papule and a macular papular purpura and the anatomical dixie cup, or was it the chicken bucket. geez!! where do we find these professors!

Hey, don't knock the pidgeons! They're the only form of communication I have left after my cell phone, courtesy of Dell computers and Airborne Express.

Any port in a storm eh?

Thanks a lot Melancholy, u answered everything I was looking for!!! I really do appreciate all the Help I get from you all.

And I'm back.....

That's right, after approximately 2 or 3 month hiatus, my laptop and I are reunited.

Anyone interested in adopting some pidgeons?

Let the GAMES begin!!!

By the way.....

Cows kick the ass out of pidgeons!

No wonder I've been seeing Minnesota back on the map. Do they play ice golf up there?

it's always interesting to see how our fellow canadians are entertaining themselves lately.

I never stated pidgeons were superior to cows...but when all you've got to communicate with others is a bunch of birds you do what you gotta do.

As to how the canadians entertain themselves, don't worry about it.

And as for the games begining, someone should enlighten our New York Italian that they began quite sometime ago (check back any number of pages on this thread). With those kind of awareness skills, I wonder how he ever managed to survive in the city as long as he did.

Nevermind the EYE-talian jokes...I was merely referring to the fact that you have "re-joined" the board....hopefully in a more "daily" fashion...now that the "Stork" has brought your baby back...Storks are a type of bird eh?? Hmm....I guess you guys were right about the "bird situation"

Did anyone notice my wonderful baseball hat? It fit so well....I want to go get another one...but I will have to wait for a drunken party...as they seem to be abundant and free for the taking there.....especially from "Hammer Throwing Chicks"

Had you been paying close attention during Dr. Yang's pediatric lecture, you'd have learned that Storks are valuable members of the bird family....as they are the ones that are the cause of "Stork Bites." Try not to confuse those with the bit marks left by the esteemed cows mentioned so often before.

As to your attempted collection on more hats at drunken gatherings, as I also recall you were social chair last semester. However this semester it is not so, and therefore not as able to better position to set yourself up with numerous opportunities for hats. Alas, it doesn't look good for you......

About those Ill-fated drunken events...being free of my "class rep" responsibilities....I will be free to focus my time on more HEDONISTIC pleasures...as well as "hat gathering"

Not to worry....the stage and the plan is being set as we speak....a cobra NEVER strikes without first giving a warning "rattle"...consider this it as you may....

Studing for anatomy is making me absolutely CRAZY!!!!!

A$$ and HAT$....that's my new motto

You do know about the Cobra's mortal enemy....

may i introduce......
the mongoose.

we shall see won't we.

Ahhh....(rubbing my hands together..as it is cold in L.A. tonight)

I see the stage has been set...and the challenge has been accepted....from here on in...it is anyones game...

I had a Mongoose BMX when I was in junior high school....how funny...

back to mean and threatening....

I will get you and your dog Toto too...and his hat as well....

To the victor shall go the spoils...and a baseball cap too...

Call in the COWS...for they too shall bear witness to this battle..."

Speaking of cold, it is snowing in various parts of southern Cali including Malibu (imagine beach + palm trees + snow???).. bad road conditions up there by the grapevine on I-5. I think the roads aren't too good going to Vegas on I-15, but I don't think we'll be going anywhere for awhile. At any rate, just remember to stay warm because it's probably one of the coldest nights we've seen in awhile (not for NY'ers and MN'ers though). Be positive though.. warmer days are not too far around the corner.

After poking my skull (bone box one, not my own) with these twist ties for the last hour I finally got it to go through the pterygoid canal. I might mention that Rohen (Dead Body book) has pictures of that as well as the disarticulated portions of the skull so you may want to take a looksie. This KFC "chicken bucket" as Leo put it is starting to make some sense!

I will get you and your dog Toto too...and his hat as well.... ••

Impersonating as the Wicked Witch of the West are you......

And as for the Cows bearing witness to the battle....I'm not so worried. You forget I hail from the Midwest, where in some places there are more cows than people. I have no doubt that my rapport with the bovine will add nothing but positives to my side of the battle. Good luck to you however, as most likely your only regional support is to come from pidgeons. And while they make suitable letter carriers, that's about it. Again, good luck to you.

i saw a flake of snow walking out of LA fitness and i was just like "you call THIS snow??"

people were bundled up like they were expecting a blizzard! honestly, get real people! no one's gonna die in an avalanche in the middle of claremont.

geez. where's a cow when you need to kick one...
~j

I hear that.....

In MN people wear shorts when it is 35 degrees in Jan.

Be sure to watch for the traffic advisories due to the snow flurries...they should be coming since j saw a snow flake.

🙄

Yeah well, I used to be able to walk around in shorts and flip flops when it was snowing outside back in college.. no more though. California sunshine has poisoned me and tainted my skin forever.. hahaha.

SammyK,
Ya know why people wear shorts in MN when it's 35 degrees in January? It's all about little mary sunshine baby...oh yeah!

Ok, now I've Officially lost it.

Hmm.. I was browsing the allopathic forum and came upon someone asking about Stanford Med. If anyone else is curious and wants to hear a few opinions on it here's the link to the thread:
Stanford SDN thread
I just thought it would be interesting reading because of how different the school is from ours and probably a lot of other schools as well. It sounds like those students up there have have all sorts of time for social lives and "other interests".. almost sounds like Stanford undergrad as well. That P/F doesn't sound too bad either.. makes you wonder how people get their work done up there on that nice campus.

Btw, I'm not implying anything negative about our school, but from that thread, Stanford sounds like a nice place to be.. hehe. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a sports medicine "elective" that let people go to the beach every day. 😛

Wow,

Other interests, no class ranking, P/F....

I'm kinda curious as to what gripes the "Stanfordians" have about their school.

And it's back to sunny Pomona for dress up week.
😛

I still never got my "Shiny red fire engine".......I will have to follow up on this...

I am gonna listen to "Dr./Patient Communication Skills..."...I am all dressed up after all...

Sam...that skirt looks DYNAMITE
on you!!!!!

Good Show!!!

While I am dressed up in all my finery.....

I am not wearing a skirt. This leads me to believe that you have mistaken me for someone else. Again, with those observation skills, you may never get your shiny red fire engine. 🙁

It is kinda wild to see everybody all decked out though.

Vacation this week is AMAZING!!!

I LOVE ICM week!!!!

Just wanted to say that squabbling between the MS-I and MS-II class will not help anyone... and I would like relations to improve as we have a long semester ahead of us.

I agree...but it is all about RESPECT and there is an appropriate way to handle and deal with things....and a way not to....

People reap what they sow...

about the MSI MSII issue, i refuse to be lectured and babied about our behavior and on our professionalism. diplomacy is a great means of communication, but it only works if there is a mutual respect. i don't think MSI's have the respect of the MSII's. it's necessary that we change the culture around school, but it has to start within our programs.

that's all i'll say about that.

Those 3 little letters just happened to be

"D-W-P"

I dunno about you guys, but I'm from LA.
"Can't we all just get along?"...Rodney King.

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I am from New York...

We live for CONFRONATION!!

Address issues and settle them immediately!

Did I miss something? Are we at odds with the MSII's? 😕

This used to be a nice board where the cows could graze in peace. Remember.....

Happy cows make better cheese.

I understand the need to stand up for ourselves.. respect is one thing, but to me, it comes down to keeping things professional and discussing/compromising/communicating about concerns in order to keep things going smoothly. Who wants to deal with constant issues that are coming up when some of the headache could probably have been prevented easily? Respect is something that is earned and sometimes the best way to earn respect is to know when to exert yourself and when to be patient and calm. I feel that sometimes comments that could seem a bit accusatory fly both ways and no matter who initiated it, if it could be dealt in a different way, things might be resolved a lot easier.

Anyway, that's about it.. bottom line is I want things to work out (I guess what Rob said). I feel like we differ on our views on how to get things to work out, but it'll all come together in the end. Just keep in mind we have a long semester to go.. enjoy the Tiki Room tonight and the rest of the week! No homework!

whoa... What's this talk about squabbling between MSI's & MSII's? I thought we were cool with each other. Can someone refresh me on this one?

-Eric

I guess I'm referring more to isolated incidents that happen between classes but the thing is in this intimate environment (as like other schools), rumors can be spread and matters can become bigger than they originally were.. that's all. I just hope that when concerns come up, they can be addressed more effectively and smoothly.. give us all less headaches, you know?

How did our class turn out with the anatomy writtens? I'm kinda scared about how the practical will turn out.. ugh.

ohh yehss, OH YYEHHSSSS!!

Adismo....care to expand on that????

he's being Triumph the insult dog.

Ahhh....good call...

My bad...I had a LONG LONG nite last evening

Not quite "with it" as of yet

where did Triumph come from anyway? Is this from some tv show/movie or just a figment of some COMP'ers imagination?

triumph the insult comic dog is from Late Night with Conan OBrian.

wow, that was quite a hangover.

(props to the drivers)

Adismo...

Good show....I too seemed to have a little trouble making it to class on Friday...and enjoyed an extra day off...

but while home, after I slept till noon...I watched Thursday nite's E/R and they discussed a cranial neve lesion(Hypoglossal to be exact) and I knew what the problem was....even before they said it....

somedays...justification means EVERYTHING!!!

I had a good time too....but apparently the buck stops here...

N-E-U-R-O(can be hum to the tune of B-I-N-G-O..)

The MS1's had a class and Neuro was its name oh!
N-E-U-R-O, N-E-U-R-O, N-E-R-O and Neuro was its name oh!

I think I watched part of ER Thursday night.. did this have to do with Mark and his tongue?

Yes.....that would be it!

Who's the magic princess?!?!?!

Greg,

You know you're the most magical of all the princesses......
