Does anyone know the program start date for Western this fall?

Hi everyone,
I need some advice, please. I recently got accepted into St Augustine FL and Western University. Im a California resident. I really don’t know which school it the best option for me. It looks like FL would be a bit cheaper and I got accepted into the summer residential program for St Augustine.
Any advice would be highly appreciated. Which school is better? In-terms of curriculum and clinicals? I’m really confused on what to do? Welp!

I honestly can only base my opinion off on alumni from Western vs. USA. From what I heard about USA's PT's is that they seem unprepared. I have friends who did internships with PT's who graduated from USA, and they all said that they seem behind with research and type of treatments. As for Western U PT's, I always had a great experience with them. I know a lot more about Western U's program than USA. With that being said, Western U has a 100% employment rate with in the 6-months of graduating. Western U helps students take the NPTE slightly before they graduate which helps speed up the process of obtaining a job. I have been to the in-person Preview Days on Western U, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Western U is pretty well established and has a ton of options for clinicals. I also know that Western U has an amazing staff. I worked under a professor at Western U, Dr. Jeff, for my internship, and he was awesome. He always checked up on his staff and volunteers. He was always so helpful especially if we were pre-pt students. So, I honestly have a biased opinion because I know current students, alumni, and staff at Western U, but I chose to attend Loma Linda University for other reasons. If not LLU, I would have gone to Western U because I also got accepted there too.

Hey guys. I interviewed with WesternU in December and got selected as an “alternate” in January. As we know there is almost no way of knowing where we stand as there is apparently no ranking system. My stats are:

- 3.9 - 4.0 Prereq GPA
- 3.64 - 3.75 Cumul. GPA
- over 2500 hours of PT Aide work w/ one on one patient care
- 56 hours of inpatient PT volunteering
- successful CASPer test (scores aren’t given)

I just wanted to share that this past 4 months has been extremely difficult not knowing what will take place.

Before my interview I had no Physics completed at all and after being selected as an “alternate” I completed both Physics 1 and 2 with A’s. I was concerned because at first I was told my two physics classes missing on my application checklist would clear once they received my transcript, however after tons of calling and emailing, I finally got a hold of Robin Johnson and she said that they don’t clear checklist items unless you are offered a position, but she went ahead and cleared them anyway.

I have a feeling my interview did not go great. There were certain situations where I misspoke or spoke too much, but there were other moments where I gave very honest and well communicated answers.

I just wanted to share my experience and will take any feedback. Thanks guys and good luck to all.

Is there a forum or group chat for students who were accepted to the Western U DPT Class of 2024?

You definitely have better stats than I do. Have you tried to keep in touch with your interviewers? I got accepted to Western University's DPT program with these stats:

3.56 cGPA
3.67 pGPA
200 Outpatient observation hours
~300 community service hours
Leadership roles and tons of extracurricular activities
Involved in research during my undergrad
Competed in a few research competitions at National, State, and local conferences and won one.

With that being said, I think Western U really likes looking at applicants as a whole. If you have any specific things you want to highlight other than your GPA or number of hours, then do it honestly. Try to connect with current DPT students and faculty members via email. I would really show that you really want to get accepted to Western U. Keep bugging them but in a nice way of course. That's honestly all I can think of.

Is Western U your number one choice? Have you applied to other programs? Have you also thought about applying to Western University in Oregon? I believe they may still be interviewing applicants? I am not too entirely sure though but it is good to ask Robin for sure. I know Robin can be difficult to get a hold of in my opinion. I would try and really get a hold of Jaziel Camacho as well if you really cannot get a hold of Robin.

Hello everyone! Is anyone taking SPaRC program? I am wanting to take that program but I have a few schedule conflicts. It would be great if anyone can give some suggestions.

Waitlisted at WesternU since January. With a month to go until classes start I’m still clueless as to what will take place. Any updates for any waitlisted/alternate applicants?

I got a call on Friday and was taken off the waitlist and received a spot!

I got pulled off from the waitlist just now. but I rejected my spot.
hopefully, someone can get in. good luck

Hello! Did anyone else get pulled off the waitlist recently or have an update if they’re still taking students off the waitlist

Hey everyone! Reviving an old thread. I just interviewed and was put on an alternate list. Did anyone here get off the list from now until august? I wonder what my chances are. Also is there a high priority alternate list that they didn’t tell us. Thanks!
