Omg, I really hope so. It would be nice if they sent an email saying if they've concluded interviews or something at this point lolHappy Monday everyone!

The anxiety is real. It’s crazy last year they sent out decisions February 6. I know it’s all pushed back because of Covid the stress is just creeping in more and more every day!Another quiet day....
Someone earlier said that things were also pushed back because admissions received 40 or so applications late from vmcas. The anxiety is real. It’s crazy last year they sent out decisions February 6. I know it’s all pushed back because of Covid the stress is just creeping in more and more every day!

the managing vet at my practice went to western and she is so knowledgeable and I love the way she practices plus I like the idea of PBLWhat are you guys doing to pass the time while waiting on a response?
I'll start LOL, I stayed at my college for an extra quarter to try and boost my gpa in case I need to re-apply again next round. I took on a lot of units since things are online, so it's definitely keeping me busy.
Also if ya'll don't mind sharing, I'm curious to hear why some of you are choosing Western? I have a friend that currently goes to Western so I've heard her experience, and I'm curious to hear what things have drawn people into attending Western for vet school.
I like the learn by doing approach, I like the fact that I’d be able to stay in California near my support system, and I could use my 3rd and 4th year clinicals to network and find a jobWhat are you guys doing to pass the time while waiting on a response?

I chose western because it’s in California and it was one of the few schools that recalculate GPAs.What are you guys doing to pass the time while waiting on a response?

These are all really good points! I also like the idea of the PBL curriculum. I learn better when I'm more hands-on or "on the job" so to speak. As I'm finishing up my last quarter of classes, I'm noticing how hard it is for me to sit there and be able to pay attention to a 2 hour lecture without getting distracted or wanting to get up and move around for a moment. I have recently met and heard about some pretty amazing vets coming out of Western which is really exciting. I currently live in Northern Cali, and I as well would like to stay within the state if possible since my dad is getting older and has been having some health problems. I've always liked the warmer weather in so cal, so I like the idea of being able to live down there and go to the beaches, etc.I chose western because it’s in California and it was one of the few schools that recalculate GPAs.
I didn't realize that they re-calculated GPA's!I chose western because it’s in California and it was one of the few schools that recalculate GPAs.
Yes! You’d have to fill out the repeated coursework form - it essentially erases all The courses that have been repeated and keeps only the best grade. It will all need to be approved by admissions to make sure that they are comparable.I didn't realize that they re-calculated GPA's!
I was looking at the newly renovated VMCAS website, and this is what I found listed for Western's admission timeline for next year. It would be nice if they released offers in February this time around

Fingers crossed!!Agreed. But hey, they technically have one more day left in February after today so....let’s hope!
True! I'm wondering if they've completed all of the interviews. Do any other schools continue interviewing into March? It just seems super late to continue carrying out interviews since the deadline is April 15th.Agreed. But hey, they technically have one more day left in February after today so....let’s hope!
I think Western is done with interviews. The last person on here that had an interview said admissions said it was the last group (I think that’s what they said unless I’m thinking of another school). I do have an interview tomorrow for the University of Arizona’s program and I heard that this is the last one.True! I'm wondering if they've completed all of the interviews. Yes! I saw someone post I believe in Feb. 18 that they were told they were the last interview group!I think Western is done with interviews. I'm pretty sure I'm going to accept if offered a spot at Western. I was really hoping to get into UC Davis but I didn't get in this year, and I really don't want to apply again and risk not getting in anywhere next year. The more I read and talk to people that attend Western, the more I feel like the PBL curriculum is more of my learning style which I think will allow me to be more successful. The one thing that does worry me is the price difference. Davis is 32K a year whereas Western is 55K, but I really don't want to apply 2 or 3 times, or possibly more. Out of state schools are another option but they are potentially more expensive than Western. I'm also seriously considering going through the army route, because they pay for your entire vet school tuition. Is anyone uncertain if they do get accepted into western will you go there? I love the school and its my instate but it is expensive! Does anyone know if they meet for class or labs at all? Are they as hands on as other schools at the moment?
I was also thinking of going the army route. Have you started talking to recruiters at all. PM me if you want to discussI'm pretty sure I'm going to accept if offered a spot at Western. there were like maybe 10 or something for the interview and on wed some of us did the student panel there were 9. I asked the students if they had any updates they said they thought the dean wanted to get offers out by the end of the month but were a little skeptical if that was actually possible so they estimated more like the beginning of March and said that at the latest probably March 15th (they didn't have concrete info though just estimates) I'm fairly certain they're done with interviews and students said they'll likely be sending out all decisions including waitlist and rejections at the same time.@Aubm713 Out of curiosity, how many people were in your interview group?
Oh wow, ok so they're probably coming out soonish! It's getting real now ya'll :Sthere were like maybe 10 or something for the interview and on wed some of us did the student panel there were 9. Make sure you clarify exactly what the army pays for. I am using my gi bill and Western is my dream school but i found out that because they are private they have a cap on the amount of money they will pay and it equals to less than half! Im not sure how the scholarship program works for the Army but make sure you read the fine print before you sign bc private vs public can make a big difference!!I'm pretty sure I'm going to accept if offered a spot at Western. That's a really good point! Thanks for the tip!! I'm definitely going to read every detail, and I'm also going to talk to a current Western vet student that is in the program to get an idea of the pro's and the cons. I really appreciate the advice!Make sure you clarify exactly what the army pays for.
