craziest thing ever happened at the dental office today.

we have had a prostitute working the street where i work and yep she walks in today asking for treatment.
she said she had asked 4 dental offices and all of them made excuses and didn't provide the treatment. i swear she had the dirtiest looking mouth, teeth, and oral appearance. she was willing to pay $2500 for a 3 unit bridge.

well, my dentist reffered her to a periodontist for her really messed up gums. talk about ethics and treating everyone equally...

good lord i am not someone who prejudges, but man i was almost sick just looking at that mouth.

got interview invite from Temple today....I scheduled on the week after Thanksgiving.... now I just found out from the interview review that Temple is located in a very GHETTO place and 9/10 students are not happy because school treat them like crap.....
oy....this does not sound good to me...should I even bother to go for the interview? ( they ask interviewees hand in an essay during the tour....Gosh...)

oh yea, NJ interview next week =) any advices?

I rather NOT know how my patients earn $$$, if they tell me OR i find the mouth to be too gross to look at, i assure you that i'll be refering them to a dear collegue!

LOL... I wonder if such patients would be common at the UNLV dental school. The world's oldest profession is legal in that state, after all! 😀

I am not sure which post you are refering to. "prostitutes in the midwest??" i know was a joke. but refering patients to a "DEAR COLLEGUE" was rather sarcastic. i am not sure how i will feel when i see a super gross mouth from a prostitute, but to make up excuses to get out of it, i might send them to a spacialist or someone that i am not on the best terms with.

Sounds like what I would do. I'd love to give everyone the same quality of care and not turn anyone down someday...sounds pretty good huh... But somethings are a little too much.
 
I met a girl today in one of my classes who applied to VCU in the summer with no DAT scores and got an interview in September. The problem is she is Canadian and thus international....I thought this was a strange case for an international student to get an interview to a school like VCU without DAT scores, even though her GPA is high. OH yah, she is only in 3rd year as well, so she doesnt have a degree....lucky girl! I guess applying early really does make a huge difference!
 
Temple interview invite!! Just imagine, I could be going to the same alma mater as Bill Cosby! :clap: My buddies said that if I got accepted to Temple, they would buy me a Cosby sweater...Im gonna miss those guys! 🙁

However, Im still waiting for my big three: Nova, Arizona, and Columbia!

i guess they aren't doing that this year or i was told the wrong thing. looks like they update it as they make their decision.
 
Over the past 2 weeks, invites from: Boston, Temple, NYU, UPenn, Nova, and Case.. still waiting for my California schools. I'm excited and nervous about my interviews and experience in the east. Will be heading out there first week of Dec. Maybe I'll meet some SDNers.

I received an acceptance letter from Temple University School of

Dentistry for the Fall 2004 entering class.
 
Congrats...I believe that is the first official acceptance on the forum. Time to start the official acceptances thread.

Yes, I think he/she might live in Penn. I asked the post office today that it would take 4 days for the mail to arrive CA. So, if the school send the letters from Penn or Florida to CA today, we will receive them on 12/1.
 
Don't get discouraged about getting letters of acceptance form schools in the east if you live on the west coast. I know a person on the west coast who three years ago finally got first round letters of acceptance from Temple and UPENN well into the second week of December. That same person got a personal call to attend a function for the new acceptees in January at UCONN but the letter of acceptance arrived about one week later. There sometimes seems to be a real snail mail lag between east coast and west coast

Yes, Temple is my first choice.

However, my father hopes that I become NYU or BU dental

student. It's a significant thing cuz my father is my sponsor.

(He's gonna pay all of my tuition and expenses.)

Damn.....you're lucky with your dad! But if your dad is paying for it....why wouldnt he want you to goto Temple, cause you would get instate tuition......almost half of NYU and BU?

Congrats.....I got my interview at Temple on Jan. 9, so we might be classmates one day! 😀
 
I'm international student.

I will go back to my country after graduating dental school.

NYU and BU is very famous school in my country.

Few people know Temple even though Temple is one of best

clinical schools in U.S.

Is is safe to assume you didn't get into Temple <em>this round of letters</em>? Probably.

Is it safe to assume you won't get into Temple at all? No way. Keep your chin up; there's plenty of time left.
