hmmm, let me look at Nova's file...ahhh....sent mid August.
 
Received an email today from Tufts saying they have been using infosource since Oct. 15th and that we should check that for our status because of the extremely high volume of applicants it could take 6-8weeks for mailings to reach us.
 
i received an email from UCLA saying that I am missing a letter.
I guess I need to hurry my professor to finish my letter.
 
got a letter from UK saying that even though i am DA MAN, they are sorry they can't give me an interview cuz their class is now full.


also a big package from Detroit Mercy saying that my RC is low and that they recommend me taking the DAT over.
 
Received the following notices:

UCONN: file is complete

COLOUMBIA: Missing LOR's (impossibe)

CASE: send in the $$

Tufts: Ditto

i am flying to NE in 8 hrs... yay...

Perfect,

i wouldnt count on that school too much since they only have 10 spots for non-residents.

i also find it interesting that UDM is the only school who has showed concern about your RC.

Got a call today from UNLV, I was so excited thinking it was going to be an interview announcement, but then I was asked to fax another copy of the supplemental application. Oh well, atleast it wasnt a rejection! And my file is now in review! 😀
 
For those who received "multiple level review" notices from USC, did you interview on 10/10 or 10/13?

i called UNLV 3 weeks ago and was told to contact them in nov. i was told that my DAT scores were fine, but my GPA was a little low.
 
BALKI has received an INterview invite from UCONN man I am happy. The want me to call them and schedule an interview. First interview from a top school I am excited. I'll update this post with the future date.

UCLA cashs my application check yesterday.
 
I recieved 3 letters on Dec.1 2003 accepting be to all three schools I applied to.

Geez.... This time thing is pretty brutal 🙁

actually i am not surprised by that at all. most schools that i have talked to have told me that its my gpa (2.97) thats giving me a hard time and not my DAT scores.
 
I'll vouch for this. I'm on the school interview committee, and so far I've routinely seen DAT scores that would be laughed out of SDN. As long as it's not a broad-spectrum trend, a low number or two hasn't necessarily affected the applicant's viability to any extent I can determine. That doesn't mean these folks will get acceptances by any means, but it's something a lot of people worry about unnecessarily for their interviews.

•EDIT:• I originally included specific information that, on further reflection, probably revealed more about the IUSD admission process than I should have released publicly. I've revised this post to eliminate this problem, and I ask that the information not be reposted. Thanks. 😀

Got a call from Colorado today! Interview on the 15th of November! The only bad thing is that I can't buy an advanced notice flight so it will cost me. It's all worth it though, right?

no, I have not interviewed there, but I would LOVE to! I am a WI resident, so it looks pretty bleak. I haven't been rejected yet, so maybe that's good news.....

Back in 2000 when a few of my present classmates were applying to dental school, a few applied to Colorado... Only to find that Colorado had returned their secondaries along with the uncashed checks-- They won't even consider applicants from east of the Mississippi.

Don't know if it's any different today..
 
I'm not filling out a secondary/sending them money until they ask me to. Also, I met with the Associate Dean for Admissions and he gave me the following numbers from this year's entering class

non-WICHE/CO (out-of-state):
Applied: over 450
Interviewed:10
Enrolled: 2

so maybe there is a chance, but I have already accepted that they will reject me.
 
Received the following:

1- A postcard from UMich saying that my application is complete.

2- Another postcard from UMich saying that my check has been received and cashed

3 - ANOTHER letter from UMich saying that my application is incomplete; missing Application fee and transcripts!

4- yet, ANOTHER letter from UMich asking about felonies and charges! (will they leave me alone??)

5- A Residency form from LU.

It would only help people understand IUSD admission chronolgy.

The accepted DAT scores for IUSD could be as low as the 14's, right?

And tell us Bill, what does IUSD is looking for, except GPA/DAT scores from a student, that might get that person favored over another?
 
Communicated with UCLA addmissions today via e-mail. The interview process will officially begin next week.

I don't know how far the extremes reach when it comes to admitted GPA's or DAT's. The averages for my class are posted on the school web site, but distributions and standard deviations aren't included. There's really nothing magical or especially esoteric when it comes to making yourself an attractive IUSD applicant. Just follow the same rules you do for the other schools--good grades, good spoken & written communication skills, give the indication you have a life beyond the books, etc. Sorry to disappoint, but getting into dental school really can be as simple as doing those things.

Hey ShawnOne, does that mean UCLA will send out notification for interviews next week, or actual interviews will start next week meaning people have already been notified?
 
I got COLUMBIA interview Feb 6th. (02/06/04) Happy but a bit stressed that it is so late! I was hoping for something earlier. Is this really late? Anybody who has expreince with this please comment

There is NO WAY they haven't notified people of interviews yet. Remember, acceptances go out in less than 4 weeks. I'm sure people have already been scheduled (though I've been wrong many times in the past!)

schools.
 
I am not sue if they mean tne actuall interview starts, or invitations go out. I personally do not know anybody with an invitation yet.
 
ShawOne. I called UCLA in the afternoon yesterday after seeing your post. They said they are going to "SEND" interview invitations recently. I tried to ask when will they actually start interviewing students? They just wanted me to be patient (although it is November already) and they will let me know if they require any further information (high school transcript, I think).
 
Balki. Congraduations on your Columbia interview. As I know, they do not indicate which day for your interview on the letter. You can always call them to schedule your interview. If it is the case, I suggest you to call them every week since today to see if there is any spot available for interview earlier than 2/6/04.

I don't know the date yet. They asked me to send them a few dates that were convenient for me (after Nov. 12). They contacted me by e-mail.
 
Got a letter confirming my UNC interview on Nov. 22nd!!
No news from VCU and U of Tennessee.
 
A letter from U of Buffalo saying that my file in "Continuing Review" pile. "This category is used by the committee for those applications it is not prepared to take final action at the present time."

this is where they put me for 6 months during the last cycle!🙁

i don't know how much people have heard from michigan... it seems like they have disappeared off the face of the earth.

i received an interview invite in the mail yesterday! the only thing that i had received from them before was a confirmation of the completion of my application. talk about keeping us in suspense!
 
endposse, what are your stats? and when did you submit?

I also havent received anything from them except that they were missing some documents and that they received everything on the same day! So confusing with them.
