just kidding, I'm proud of the colts. I'm amazed at how well they have been doing. They will probably be the only team in history to go undefeated in the regular season and get shutout in the first playoff game

I stand corrected 😳

I received an email putting me on the alternate list at University of Minnesota.

I will be contacting them shortly to tell them I am going to UPitt, so that is one more spot open for someone else!

UPenn interview invite came early this morning

Wait, just got an email
UCSF interview on Feb 2nd

moe capital one cc offers.

enjoy the football weekend everyone.
go Titans & Packers!!!!

I got a letter from Iowa saying I got a $30,000 scholarship!!!
I was pretty sure about my decision before but this seals the deal!

congrats on the scholarship pktchris.

I got an interview invite from Harvard and Columbia.

Letter from USC about third critical review stage.

What's going on with USC?
It seems that everybody stays at the critical stage
and nobody got interview invites.
Hopefully, we will hear something from them soon.

Not everybody is at the most ultimate finality critical stage of the pre-interview process at USC. I just receive a letter from them saying, ok, we will look at your application. So, I guess I am at the first stage. How many stages are there before an interview?

Just got a call from UW moving my interview on Feb 19th to Jan 15th. Yipee!

Actually, USC start their interviews - 2 sessions in Oct., 2003, 1 session in Nov., 2003, and (maybe) 2 sessions in Dec., 2003. The interview-invite letter said they will decide more sessions in 2004.

USC interview invite today (about time)

can anyone give me some feedback on their PBL curriculuum?

Me too! USC invite via email... but too bad I can't open up their attachment. When is the earliest date to interview, anyone know?

earliest date is this friday, jan. 16th. then next one after that is next friday, jan. 23rd.

usc invite for me too by phone!!!!!

I am going tomorrow, the 16th... I had a day off from work so I figured what the heck... it's my first choice...

any advice how to prepare in a short amount of time?

oh and one more thing...

in the pre-medical forum, I had read that the color of your suit matters... is this true? I typically wear black suits, but according to them, this is WRONG...

any feedback????

for those of you who think this is a stupid question, please refrain from answering..

Yes, the color of your suit matters!!!!!
if it's red, white etc...but definitely NOT black.
Almost everyone at my interviews wear black suit.

FutrDDS,

black is supposedly not a good color because it stands for "power/authority" and you'll end up blending in with everyone else (of which majority will be wearing black also). i read that from some interview etiquette thing and some friends who have interviewed at numerous places were telling me the same thing. i'm not quite sure how much weight will be placed on appearance during the interview though..i'm assuming as long as you stay well-groomed and show some confidence then you'll be fine.

congrats on the USC interview. it's PBL, so i guess the best thing to do is get a good night's rest so you'll be alert the next morning.

Good luck!

i know, i know... not red... it's funny 'cause I have a bunch in black...

it's cool... im off to buy a new suit today... 😀

The key term in deciding interview attire is "conservative." For men, that traditionally means a dark suit (navy or black), white shirt, and simple striped necktie. For women, there's obviously more to the decision.

In my case, I wore an olive suit, beige-gray shirt, and patterned necktie. It didn't necessary follow the traditional rules, but it looked good, and it evidently worked 😀

It doesn't really matter. There are two sides to the debate which are equally valid.

1) Dentistry is a very traditional profession. They want you to wear conservative colors and present yourself as a professional.

2) Wearing the same color as everyone else will not make you stand out, so wear anything but balck (or navy).

Both points are valid and you just need to pick one. I don't think it will make any difference on whether or not you get accepted.

FYI, I wore a black suit.

finally...received UCLA interview invite today. 🙂

I did notice that a lot of people at the interviews had black and navy blue suits on. Personally, I wore a brown pinstripe suit with a biege colored shirt and a checkered tie that matched. It sounds a lot worse than it was!! 😀

But one piece of advice I offer you....please, please take care to wear nice, upkept shoes. Another $100 won't hurt to invest in a good pair of shoes to top off a nice looking suit.

I think you can tell a lot about someone by the shoes they wear, in fact this is a well known generalization about men in particular. It was funny because I could spot all the Mormons that were recycling their Missionary suits/shoes at all of my interviews a mile away. It seems that Riding a bike around and knocking on people's doors is not conducive to wearing Prada shoes.
They all looked well kept, groomed, pressed clothes.......with dirty Dr. Martins.

Just back from my first interview.
Exhausted as I travel across the continent.
Got two more interview invites.
UMich and USC.
Cool, UMich's program seems very interesting. I m still debating whether I should go on my bday. Do u think they will host me a little party?

Also, USC has a list of dates. (also including my bday) I really want to go there to see how PBL works.

Got in at UW , scratching Harvard because I do not want to spend
first two years not learning dentistry...will decide between UOP and UW in a few days!

got in at umdnj...my first... applied LATE....3.0 GPA! hoooray beer! hooray!

Yesterday I called Temple asking about my application status and this morning I got an interview invite via phone call from them.
🙂 They said they had written interview on my application but somehow or other I wasn't notified. They have Mondays open in February starting from the 9th.

Got email from Maryland saying I'm in. It's my first choice.

Gonna be a Husky. UW acceptance!

Alright....TEMPLE ACCEPTENCE!!!!! Looks like there is a 85% chance Im gonna be an owl! Still gonna wait for Tufts and/or BU though.....but Temple is looking pretty damn good!

Congratulations Avin!!! I know how much you wanted temple

I got an invitation for an interview from Tufts hahahahahahaha, it's about time since I applied in July. I wanna just call them and ask why on earth they waited almost 5 months before granting me the interview!

Heh, long time lurker at SDN. =p

Well, I applied late...and I mean LATE...(Close to the end of December) so I figured I had to apply to most of the schools still open until 01/01/04...35 in fact.

I received secondaries and requests for application fees from 12 schools already, and I was really wondering which schools I still have a shot at (I applied to the 35 still open, so that's pretty much all of them)...I already sent my fees in for UMDNJ, Case, USC, NYU, Boston U, Florida, UOP, and Harvard (hmmm, heh).

My stats: 3.65 science GPA, 23 AA, 25 Chem, 27 Chem, 23 OChem, 23 Reading Comp., 23 QR, and 18 PAT (ouch, I know).

Has anyone applied late like myself and gotten interview offers from their schools yet? I know some schools have their last interview dates coming up...and I'm getting worried because I haven't heard back from any schools yet... 🙁

Thanks again, guys and gals.

25 Chem, 27 Chem

Ok, obviously you meant to write Bio for one of these scores.

Nonetheless, your stats rock and I think you will be accepted somewhere this year. Be patient, good things will come.

Where do you live?

ShawnOne 🙂

Oh, yea, 25 - Bio...sorry.

Well, I applied really late, so I know the schools are going to look down upon that. =(

I go to UOP undergrad and am in the accelerated program and still haven't heard back from UOP yet, so that's a bad sign.. =/

edit: for spelling.

Congrats. =)

Anyone know why the UCSF secondary is so damn long???? 😕

Congrats...I knew I should've have applied so late. Har. =(
😡

ok, i was up up up, then came Dec 1st and i was down down down.

then came my 2 other interview invites so i was up up up. then i realized that its getting towards the end of the cycle so i have been scared and feeling down down down.

then, today came. i got an email from Dr. Kasberg at IUSD leting me know that they will have their second round of selection on THU 1/29 and they would like to know if i am still considering IUSD. he feels very strong about my app and thinks that if i don't get accepted (2nd rnd) that i would be on the waitlist with a very good spot. email goes on to say that i had really impressed them and that he feels very good about my chance.

so now, you can imagine. i am feeling up up up up up up again.
god i hope i stay this way. i am a realy strong person and have gone through many adversities in live, but have never felt so emotionally lost. i don't know how i'd feel if i finally get accepted somewhere.

Hey ahmad, it's looking very good for you at Indiana. im sure everything will work out. But have you enrolled in that anatomy course?
