dam ..... I got a rejection from Iowa with GPA 3.61, BGPA 4.0, and 22 on DAT. Don't know what is their criteria. I think I can truely realize what Gavin felt back to last year. 😡
 
At least you knew it was coming.. don't worry a bit. There are many better schools who will love to offer you a seat AND some scholarship.
 
That's amazing gret. How the heck do they reject a student with such standings. Good Lord!
 
Iowa is big time in state. That's why i didn't apply there. Got a letter from UIC today, saying they'll review applications in november. Hopefully they'll be worth the wait.
 
Well everyone, I just got a letter today from UCLA and UTSA. Wish me luck!!!😀 😀 😀

One in UTSA is next monday and UCLA is the monday after that. That'll be it for me 2. No more interviews. 😀😀😀

Guys.. thanks for the encouragements. Dr. Brown from U of Iowa replied me the mail and stated "2003 status - GPA>3.59, average DAT 19-20". They require even higher for out-of-state student.

Congrats Croco,

You are the first one so far to be invited to the UC schools, and we all know how tough it is to just get an interview at the UC's. Can do me a fav and post your stats to give us a rough idea of where we stand in the competition? Best luck to you on your upcoming interviews.
 
Croco, you took the DAT on Sept 9 and you got the UCLA interview invite on Sept 30, wow. 😕

yeah, I kept calling them and annoyed them till I got an interview. I also have a cousin there who vouchd for me, so that is always a good thing🙄

BTW, thanks a lot mary. 3.85 was soooo tough while werking full time and majoring in biochem

as much as i envy your grade and your invitation.
i dont think you should decline the invitation because UCLA is an excellent school. I would still go and check the place out.

UCLA is my first choice. If i get in, that will be the happinest day in my life. :laugh: :laugh:
 
Honestly, i cannot afford it unless I get a huge unsubsidized loan which I refuse to do. Also, realize that there is a flood of dentists in the california area, so I will need to take the WREB for the area I want to work in after I graduate.
 
If I can stay in so.cal, it would mean the world to me. I am willing to trade all my other school's interview to get a chance to interview at USC or UCLA. My family is here, and my bf is here so it makes sense for me to attend a school in LA. I honestly don't have a preferece over either UCLA or USC. My dad is a faculty at USC, so we save a bundle on the tuition. UCLA is an excellent school in a great neighborhood as well. I am just praying to get into either school.

hi guys,

well, i haven't been able to sign online for a few days now (phone company problems) and finally got it fixed today.

first things first. congrats to everyone who has gotten interview invites. shawnone and croco, i am very happy for you guys.

as for myself, i got an email from IU saying that i had really impressed them in my interview and that i scored the highest among 14 people on my interview. i didn't know they give you scores.

anyways, it basically says that my chances of acceptance is very high and that i should check my email 1st thing on dec 1st.

is this good news or is it good news guys?
the only thing is, i will still not have my hopes too high. i won't cheer till i hear it officially.

i really do wish everyone get this kind of news soon.

Wow, this is great news!! I would be happy if I received an email like that. Does Indiana have a strict resident requirement like we do down here in Texas? If so, that's quite an accomplishment my man, to get into a state school that you don't have residence in. Quite an accomplishment indeed :clap:

IUSD is pretty friendly towards nonresident students (30 out of my 100-member class), but you still have to beat some pretty long odds to get in; for this year's class, some 900 applications were received for those 30 spots.

Does U Mich ask for processing fee, or should i just send it to them? I havent received anything from them yet.

Is this the case for other schools also? If you have a chance do they e-mail you like this after the interview? So if no message meaning little chance after interview?

good for you and I'm now worried.....cause I did some interview( not Indiana) but got nothing like that....

UMich must have had some kind of backup, because I received all in the same mailing: a postcard saying my fee was received, a 2nd postcard saying my application is complete, and a separate envelope that asked me if I was a felon or not.

Going from zero response to three in one day is certainly progress.😀

schools don't normally send anything saying how the interview went. i don't have a clue why they emailed me. you shouldn't feel bad if you haven't heard. now if you don't hear anything by the end of december then thats a diff story.

well, i just finished my interview at uconn with rsweeny today. i think that it went pretty well and we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

good luck to everyone on their interviews and the ones who haven't gotten an interview, just be patient. i am sure we will all be very happy in a bout 2 months.

Since I just sent them the check, they will probably review my application in 2 wks or less.
 
got a letter from MICH saying not to call them and that they'll contact me once a decision has been made.

just got back from UCONN and i am seriously broke from the cost of travelling. my CT trip cost me about $1000. i wish i could know (now) if i am accepted so that i don't waste money anymore.
 
wow, almost a big tragedy happened today.
I checked my mail yesterday and received two postcards from dental schools. Then today, I checked and thought I didnt have anything.

As it turns out, there is an orange postcard.
At first, I thought it is junk mail and when I was going to throw it to the trash. Something caught my eye and examined it is the Acknowledgement Recipt Card from UCLA.
OMG, I cant believe how quick they reviewed my application.
Do they send out secondaries to everyone?
But anyway, I am very happy that UCLA is my first choice and the first school to give me secondaries.

Now, I will spend my next 10 days on polishing the 13 page application.

Didn't you get into IU allready? If i were you i'd just go with the interviews you've done allready, especially if you want to go to indiana or uconn. It would save you a lot of money.

i am not accepted anywhere yet. i know that everything i have gotten or heard from IU sounds very promising. however, nothing is guaranteed. i will stop persuing other schools when i get that official acceptance letter.

This morning, UMaryland sent me the secondary application. Man, it is quite irony that this year supposes to be my "year off." Now I find myself working full time, taking a literature class, working various presentations, applying to dental schools, preparing for interviews. Though it is a good feeling that two schools have given me secondaries. Hopefully, I will get interviews soon.

I turned my application in at the end of August.

depending on the number of the schools you apply to, applying to dental school, preparing and going to interviews, and just keeping up which school has/needs what can be a full time job. add to that personal life, taking classes, having a real job and maybe a family when each of which can be a full time affair.
i am glad that this time the load is a bit easier for me than last year.
