I really hope croco wasn't banned from sdn. I'm catholic, and I personally found his post to be pretty funny. I think people on here need to settle down just a bit.
 
The only other user I've seen banned would be that dude trying to get somebody to take the DATs for him... That was a trip. 😛

Looks like Croco was banned for that remark he made about priests.

I have a personal rule to never get embroiled in "discussions" about two things on-line: politics and religion. 😀

Somehow these two topics bring the worst out of pretty much everyone.
 
I think croco was out to get everyone, not just catholics. He's made offensive remarks about jews, muslims, and pretty much anyone who lives under the sun.
 
wow thats really interesting that one could get banned. i am sure he could just change his username and join us again.

and about the guy who wanted someone else to take the DAT for him, i actually met a guy in my kaplan class who was looking around to find someone as stupid as himself who would be willing to take the DAT for him. he called me and wanted to get my advice for finding ways to cheat.

my advice was:

_DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN OR I WILL REPORT YOU MYSELF
-IF YOU HAVE TO CHEAT AT THIS POINT, I HOPE YOU NEVER MAKE IT AS A DENTIST. HAVE A NICE DAY!🙂

As far as I know attending the Open House has little or no bearing on your admissions attempt. It is really just an opportunity to come to the school look around and meet some of the students. It is also an opportunity for the current students families to come and see the campus.

I will be giving tours during the Open House and classmates and other students will be around campus to answer questions. If you can make it I would urge you to attend.
 
i would love to attend and get to see as many schools as possible. Unfortunately, no matter how many times i play the lotto i never win. i wish i had all the money to spend for open houses.
 
Without an interview invite it probably would not be worth the cost of a plane ticket from California just for the open house. When you get your invite though let me know and I can show you around if you like.

Just received an interview invitation from University of Florida. I am pretty excited. this is my first interview so far. I took my DAT on september 27 and the DAT scores were sent to schools on oct 2. So by now all my school applications should be complete. Anybody from UF to show me around?
Friday november 14, 10:30 am.

just make sure you read about the school on their website and know their program.
i am glad that at least someone got something after a long waiting time.

here is a good one.

i have a friend who sent his/her AADSAS 2 about a month ago and is planning on taking the DAT in 2 weeks.

this friend just received an invitation for an interview at Howard U.

is this weird or what? you can get an interview without your DAT scores? and btw, his/her GPA is around 3.2.

i am lost😕
 
Just got back from dental conference at UCSF.
And got an interview invites to University of Maryland on Jan 14, 2003. The amazing thing is that the date is when I arrived in the United States for 9 years. And my first interview invites =)
double the happiness.
 
perfect. May I ask if your friend is Africa American? If he is, Howard looks for the person and it is not wired that he receives interview without DAT.
Some schools I know would grant "few" people interview invites before DAT if they have awsome GPA or experience.

I received a letter from Case Western today that states a request for an interview for our Alternate List. Has anyone else received this? Does this mean they would not consider my application for normal admission? How many alternates do they usually accept? Any insight is greatly appreciated!
 
When I interviewed at Case this August they told me that sometime in October they stop inviting people for normal admissions, and anyone invited after that can only make the alternate list even if they are highly qualified. It is one school were applying early really means a lot.

i know there are some adcom people browsing around here. i hope they couldn't pinpoint you out jimmy *****, cuz i am sure you will not be in dental school for that comment anytime soon.

i also think that he is banned, since he hasn't been around for a day now. or maybe he came out of his drug overdose and realized what an idiot he has been.

if you can see this post jimmy, i hope you grow up soon. don't worry, i am not holding anything against you because i can definately say that i am better than you now.

A letter from NYU confirming that i am on the wait-list of 2004 along with their supplemental application. Does anyonw know if re-applicants to NYU will have some sort of advantage??

A receipt of USC cashing my check.

I got a letter saying they will hold my application until my fall semester grades are turned in. Based on this, it doesn't look like i'll be visiting Case anytime soon, oh well, expensive school.
 
how did you already get waitlisted? I thought that schools have to wait until dec 1st before they accept/reject someone, right? I am guessing you have already had an interview there. anyway, my situation up until today is:
got an interview from maryland, which is this week (oooo, I'm nervous), an interview from temple and upenn in two weeks (which are back to back, meaning one day after the other, I was trying to save myself a trip to philly), an interview from BU and columbia, but I haven't heard from the other 5 schools that I applied to, is that normal? is it safe to assume that they rejected my application if I haven't received any interviews from the rest of the other 5 schools I applied to?
 
For those questioning NYU Wait-list situation:

I applied there LAST YEAR, got wait listed and never came off the list. The school is nice enough to keep my application active for this cycle and keep my status as wait listed till i strenghten my application.

I better get ready for my Creighton interview now...

Just received an interview for UCSF vial email for monday november 3. I am so excited. I don't think I have a great chance at getting in since I am not a california resident, but I will go to the interview.
I also received an email from u of maryland yesterday to fax them a form and they will give me an interview date.
 
Just recieved an interview from TUFTS! Is that really true about the high rate of acceptance for interviewees?
 
it seems like they've been telling this to each interview group. i know during my time there, they mentioned that a very high percentage of interviewees will be accepted (80-85%). this was at the very beginning of day of interviews. it allowed me to relax and really enjoy the day they had planned. this was a blessing for me because tufts was my first dental school interview.

the reasoning behind their high acceptance rates was because they have relatively high standards throughout their screening process. while knowing that this statistic has been voiced by the admissions people at tufts, i still caution you to be wary and not let it lull you into a false sense of security. you're still not in dental school yet! use this information to your advantage. use it as a boost of confidence and impress your interviewer! congrats and good luck with your interview!

The answer is yes and no. Creighton does not hand out interviews to applicants like most schools do. However, if you call the admissions office and specifically ask for a "tour", they will give you a tour and schedule a 30 minute "meeting/interview? which is basically a one on one conversation with the director of admissions.

Again, I don't know who you talked to at the Admissions office but saying that there is absolutely no interview at Creighton is somewhat misleading.
 
Again to clarify for everyone, the so called "interview" is mainly you asking questions about the school and according to the director of admissions at Creighton "It will have no effect on the decision made of whether or not to accept an applicant."

I would agree with Sunny2004 that they do not have interviews. You could call them tours but thats about it. I don't think it can be called an interview if anyone can ask for one and get one. You would get the same treatment if you weren't even an applicant.

submitted aadsas on the 2nd of sept. and i think they processed it by the 26th, i assume the schools recieved it a week after?

Darn! And I really wanted to goto case! That sucks, wish I knew that! I feel like I wasted my money on the application then! 🙁
 
I haven't received anything since Oct 1. I think schools quit sending out info until Dec 1 then. 😕 😕
