What's up with UVM?

After interviewing at UVM a little while ago my online status page now says this. Does anyone have this on their online applicant service as well? Or did you and how long did it take for you to hear after this.

Spar,
I dont have a change in my online status....and interviewed in mid-October (instate).... I think you could call them and ask on Monday if you were really feeling adventurous and otherwise that change in status means you have to wait for something in the mail....🙂 Good luck!!

i just checked my status page and got the same message...hopefully it is a good decision that they have made. i interviewed 10/17.
 
anyone who has already been accepted know what it means? I thought they would notify us of their decision on the status page as well as through snail mail.
 
I interviewed 10/10 and i have a friend who's out of state who interviewed 12/5. Its also possible that when they met this week they didn't get through all the files which i have a feeling is the case because i actually did go into the office last week to ask how things were going, hoping that they had sent letters first and maybe they would tell me if i got in, and the admissions office mentioned that they were still reviewing and getting files finalized. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and continue checking the status page like every 5 minutes....🙂 😱 😀 😉 :idea: 😛

My applicant center message changed today too. I also interviewed at UVM on 10/10.

I had the same message!!!!!!!!!!!!! This message means that your decisions have been made, but letters need to be signed by the dean. You will know within next week.

I had this message pop up (Oct 15th), and found out about the decision on (Oct 20th) via status, and then additional 3-4 days later via snail. So max 5 more agonizing days left. Hang in there.

My status changd this morning too! I interviewed in late Nov. C'mon UVM, let me in! UVM really moved up in my preference list after my execrable performance at OHSU a short time ago.
 
😕 what happened to the Oct 12th interviewees... no status change for us...

hmmm, Spar, do you think I should go by the office Mon if my status still doesn't change to reviewed and ask what's up?---how did they manage to get to people from December and not us!!! (I interviewed 10/12 also....)
 
do you get notified by email when it changes? mine has not changed, assuming this is the message on the front page after you log in....mine just thanks me for coming to intervew. I went in late October.
 
Aaaahhhhhh! My status changed!! I really didn't think it was going to be that fast! I'm not mentally prepared for a decision yet😱 Crap on a stick...how long before we are notified online? Sonyvaio...you said five days? They told us second week of january at my interview so I haven't been checking, but now this... Well..*fingers crossed*.🙁 Good luck to all. I need to get some shopping therapy in now.

no, the only email notification I ever got from them was for the interview...

That seems weird that the message appeared for december interviewers and not october. Ya, call them or email them..they pretty quick to respond via email

novemberwhiskey, and others who interviewed early october, i'm concerned also. i interviewed october 9 (? i think). it seems people interviewed in nov had their statuses changed. i wonder if this means anything??? this process is wearing down my patience.
 
I'm an in-stater and they got my rec's yesterday. It's definitely one of my top choices, but I applied so damn late :[

Also - where is this status page? Just the main page on the OAC?
 
is anyone going to call or email come monday? i don't want to be the 10th person to do it and start bugging them....it'll probably be good if one of us does it though....i'll call them if no one did it/is going to do it on monday
 
I ALREADY STOPPED BY THE OFFICE.

Sorry. just wanted everyone to get that. I stopped on friday before they updated our status. But when i did stop, the admissions office was very nice and they just told me that they were still completing and compiling files and that as things changed they would update them. So its very possible that when the committee met they didn't get a chance to go through all the files...thus some of the applicants status have changed and some have not. I can imagine if they told us we'd know by xmas then we all will know by xmas...UVM is good about keeping their word. I know people who's status has changed from oct, nov and dec also (in and oos), so they might not nec. be doing it in any order. If y'all don't believe me, you can all call...but i have a feeling they'll just tell you the same thing. I hope we all get in though!! And i really wouldn't mind some snow here in VT, it was like 50 yesterday...🙁 Good luck everyone and happy holidays!

I just wish they did it in order though, but I guess if they do it out of order, that we all get a fair chance and that all the spots don't "fill up".....that would be very unfair to those who got earlier interviews in a rolling process. But I guess i'm just saying that b/c i had an earlier interview, and had I had a late one, I would want it the other way around 🙂 I know they'll get to us, I believe them, and I won't worry about it since it's not like I'm the only one w/o a status change, there are plenty of people here from various dates.

Or who knows, maybe they did review everyone, and it just takes a long time to go through all the files and update all the web pages, I doubt they care to do the actual updating in any order by interview date.

but thanks for saying you did it so now i don't worry about it!

Yeah, some snow would be GREAT! I hear it's supposed to get colder on Tuesday...

I interviewed on 12/7 (in-stater) and my status page changed today, too. Hopefully we'll be hearing in a week or so... Good luck everyone!!
 
I interviewed in October (OOS) and the status page just changed
for me.

When I checked it earlier today around 4PM, it said my app was under review.

Today is Sunday though...weird
 
My status page says "Dear Matthew:

Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will be contacting you shortly regarding the status of your application."

Im nervous!
 
My status page changed yesterday as well and changed again today- waitlist.
 
Awesome....three years of MCAT studying, seven years of trying...and waitlisted. At least its not a rejection...🙁 Merry christmas everyone...at least we have that.
 
At a recent meeting of the Committee on Admissions your complete application was carefully reviewed. We are pleased to inform you that your name has been placed on the Out-of-Area waitlist of qualified/alternate candidates. We will complete our interview and review process by the end of April 2007. Beginning on May 15, 2007, you may check the Online Applicant Center for more information regarding your placement on the waitlist.

🙁 That's a bummer. I really really liked the school, and had a great interview (or so i thought).

Does anyone know anything about this WL, esp. for OOS? Does it move at all? I'm going to guess that I will be withdrawing with other acceptances....a bit pointless to wait anymore....well, today really sucks now.
 
"we are pleased inform you", that sounds optimistic. plus don't they always put all OOS applicants on the waitlist?i don't think its bad news.

I also got waitlisted today, but I think WLsters should be positive about it. I have heard that almost all OSS are placed on the WL. I have heard from many OSSers at UVM that they were waitlisted and then accepted as early as 2 weeks from the initial letter. It is far better to be on WL then outright rejected...... So, keep your chin up! 🙂

i am a OOS (in fact, international, hahah worse)....i was placed on a WL...accepted 2 weeks later...

Placed: oct 18th, 2006
Accepted: nov 3st, 2006 (nov 5th was my birthday, the best bgift ever !!! 😱 )

so there is hope ppl...

waitlisted via status page oct18, mail oct 23rd, accepted via status nov 3rd, mail nov 7th.

I didnt even know about checking the status till someone on SDN mentioned it. haha, I expected it was going to be a lengthy wait...in fact i was prepared for a wait as long as May, June.

But then, the birthday gods wanted to give me a present...hahaha :clap:

Like to add that there was 2 other SDNers who were lifted off the waitlist also. 1 instate, 1 oos. Also couple ppl were given the boot, and pretty much everyone else was waitlisted the first time.

that's really interesting. did these people send LOInterest/Intent to get accepted so quickly after WL? I didn't know this happens, esp. since they said to wait until after May 15th. Sony, did you send any LOIs? I'd like to, but I don't want to do it so early after they gave me a decision.

Also, in the event that I am still waiting for this school in the spring, what are people's opinion on waiting for WL when you already have acceptances? (of course i am very grateful to be in this position). Is it pointless to wait for WL movement? I consider UVM as one of my top choices, but I would be very happy at either school I am already accepted at. Personally, I'm thinking I'll wait it out and see what happens while preparing to enter the other schools.

Nope, didnt write a letter of intent. Since it looks like everyone got waitlisted you guys might here sooner than you think...

during my interview the admissions staff commented on how they like to see ppl interested in the school...so maybe it's early for a LOI, but after you go to all your interviews, and still think UVM is the school for you...perhaps it's a good idea.

I interviewed on October 3rd (OOS) and have not heard anything from Vermont. I hope that I find out some information soon!
 
OOS Waitlist as well - this is sucky.

luckily i have one acceptance already - but my interview at UVM was great and sadly i was also on the waitlist last year. I wish i understood what would have gotten me accepted.
hopefully we'll all be taken off the waitlist - since I really love UVM!

Blah. Hey, it's better than a rejection, right?

I was with Sony on the whole waitlist/accepted a week later thing-interviewed 9/14...being on the WL is not a bad thing...but I still don't understand how their system works...why are they not accepting people outright? I tried to ask them about it, but Mary just said that it's different for everybody. I definitely did not write any Letters of Intent. It may be a little too early. Wait another month and see if your status changes.

Who is "they"? I knew that most OOS get waitlisted then accepted off the waitlist. I didn't know that it was true for VT residents, too...
 
OOS, Interviewed 12/5, waitlisted as well. Several students also told me the majority of OOSer's are waitlisted and then accepted. Really liked Vermont, so crossing my fingers.
 
Was anyone accepted?...or are those of us who didn't hear anything the ones who got accepted and they'll hear by the end of the week. Its actually kinda funny and i have no clue how UVM works. I'm instate, interviewed 10/10 and am on my third time applying to UVM and still...waitlisted. And no one i know got in. I've talked to four of my friends and no one got in, all waitlisted. I guess this is good right! Have to look on the bright side. I did write a LOI too, i thought writing it before they gave me their decision would show them i really do want to go there...plus i do. I'll probably wait a few weeks and write another one.
 
Good news for all of us though, i was told that UVM moves through its waitlist pretty fast, like Sony said...in some cases a few weeks. I'm going to enjoy xmas and hope for the best!
