I figure its nice to get some feedback on the reasons why we( pre-dents) chose a certain school to attend. This will be helpful for others deciding where to go. Please try to mention why you chose a certain school over another as well ( or mention the options of other schools that you had offers from). Thank you. I hope this helps future Pre-dents.

These are the main reasons I chose TEMPLE:

1) Only school to accept me( so not much of a choice.haha) , BUT, I would still go even if I were to get in to NYU( wait listed, still a great school, but I enjoyed Temple more) and many other schools( if I had gotten in to them as well). I would chose only a few schools over TEMPLE, mainly due to these schools having significantly less cost.

2) I really enjoyed the students and their dynamics. I was able to talk to a few random students in the pre-clinic labs, and just randomly walked in, not knowing anyone, and was able to speak to several dental students there( First year and second year students). They are more than happy to speak to me, taking a break from their lab work, this really was a big reason I loved Temple, seeing how easy it was for students to help out each other.

3) Temple is known for its clinical experience, BIG PLUS.

4) Brian was awesome ( the man who takes you on the tour of the school). He gave a great vibe: relaxed, caring, funny, and Professional. This is important for me, because Temple chose him to represent the school, so I believe thats the image they want to portray.

5) From what I have heard, it is relatively less stressful the first semester, they try to EASE you into the curriculum, so that was a huge plus also. Obviously it is a very challenging dental school, but from what I have heard from a few students, they start you off with a relatively less class load your first semester, but then it picks up the second semester (will be more difficult in regards to the class load). This is important because I would like to learn to allocate some time getting to know the other students and becoming familiar with how to manage my time.

6) Temple is in the process of renovating their clinics, so it will be updated ( hopefully) by the time we get into the clinics.

7) Temple has some of their class lectures posted online, ( i do understand many other schools have this feature as well). This makes it convenient to look over a lecture, and re-listen to what the Professor was saying.

Tufts
Amazing view from the 15th floor. Most of what the other school try to show off as the new technology is said to be "old news" at Tufts. Finally, attractive people and great city life.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear Brian and Jeremy are school admins in the day and street corner pimps at night.... Great guys, great sense of humor

This is my home town. I am house trained

At the time of my decision, I was getting involved with a girl, so on top of me wanting to stay in Detroit, she didn't have plans to leave and come with... I don't believe in long distance relationships.

I calculated the difference between Staying in Detroit vs going to buffalo (the cheapest school that accepted me)... the difference was like 40-50k over 4 years... Wasn't enough to push me out of my town.

Another reason that I don't like to admit is.... I have older parents, I don't trust them alone (father 77, mother 64 ~ yes I was a mistake) so I stay around to take care of them.

I am going to Creighton, and here is a list of the reasons why:

1) No specialties- there won't be any specialists taking more complex cases away, so I feel like (after talking to other students) I'll be a little better prepared to enter private practice when I finish that I might be otherwise.

2) Happy students- I haven't yet talked to one student at Creighton that didn't say they love it there.

3) Implants-Creighton allows their DDS students to do implants, which is something I'm very intereted in.

4) Cost: since my state doesn't have a school, I get a discount on tuition the first year, and then reimbursed for three years if I come back to my state and practice.

Awesome people, awesome clinics, tons of clinical experience, high percent class specialization, high boards pass rate, high academic standards for acceptance and students, instate tuition, impressive interview set up, and let's be honest... awesome football :)

1. Cheaper in comparison to other Cali schools (other than SF)

2. Cheaper in comparison to the OOS I was accepted at

3. Can't beat the weather in Westwood

4. P/F grading system

5. High standards, great atmosphere, high specialization rate, good reputation

Minnesota
It was by far the cheapest school I got into (the others were MWU-AZ, NYU, USC)
Also, in my opinion it was the best dental school out of the choices.
Then there's always the fact that my family lives here as well as my girlfriend.

This thread is really helpful...I also have about 4 days to decide between schools :-/
