Best luck to all of you who still haven't yet submitted their applications...
I submitted mine back in May and just now found a typo in my personal statement (wrote "BUR" instead of "BUT, you see "R" and "T" are right next to each other on the keyboard and unfortunately a "BUR" is a word). I proofread it at least 10 times and it never popped out, what is going to become of me??
Is there anyone out there who still got accepted with a careless typo in their PS???

I am soooooooo down (wish I had not found out about it) and this will haunt me for the rest of my life-

One typo is not going to be the end of your dental career. Proving to admissions committees that you are capable and committed to being in the field is a lot more important than your ability to type perfectly. We're all human and make mistakes now and then.

And yeah, if it makes you feel better, I know someone who has been accepted to dental school even though they made a typo similar to yours. 😉

Fatal mistake....

I'm joking of course. I don't think it's too much of a big deal. If you had gotten the spelling wrong on a word like "definitely" (which is often written wrong by many), it would be worse. This is clearly a typo, so the adcom may think that you were a bit careless when proofreading, but at least they won't think that you're dumb. I wouldn't worry about it, enjoy your summer!

If you read it 10 times and didn't notice the typo, chances are they won't notice it either. 🙂

And just a piece of advice: If something is set in stone, stop looking for errors in it! If you find something, it's just going to eat you up inside. I don't plan on re-reading my essay until right before my (potential) interviews.

dear lord waikiki! if one little typo is causing you this much stress, dental school will be very difficult for you my friend... 😱

I never made a mistake in my whole life, what does it feel like?

I don't think it is a big deal either. Why not call AADSAS (who hasnt actually printed and sent out your app yet) and see if it would delay your application if they opened it up to you so you could fix your Personal Statement. If it delays the sending out of the app, i wouldnt do it. If it doesnt...then you won't have to worry about anything anymore! 🙂
