Warren is so far left I don't how she pivots back to the center for the general election:

View attachment 281497

It'll actually be incredibly easy for Warren to walk back to the middle. She's already secured her liberal friends, no way in hell do they vote for Trump over a female candidate. The question becomes how tactful she can be in appealing to those on the fence, I.e. those on this board and if she wants to continue being such a hardcore candidate or appeal to the country as a whole.

She won't be able to walk back anything in this day and age.

I personally just don’t think you’re going to be able to walk back things like in the past, especially against a sitting President with more cash in his war chest than all the other Democrats combined. Every other Facebook or YouTube or tv commercial will be Beto clamoring about gun confiscation or Bernie’s wealth tax or pointing out the very large and looming tax hikes for Warrens Medicare for all—and all that happens before a debate.

Trump somehow convinced Warren into thinking she should release a DNA that very clearly demonstrated she is not Native American. Warren has also benefitted from being the media darling, but this won’t last. Eventually the media are going to be forced into talking about her mega corporate donors and her bribery scandal and whatever else comes out between now and the election.

I don’t understand how it keeps working for him, but Trump is going to continue being Trump and I personally think he’s going to be hard to beat.

Most of my GOP friends don't like TRUMP. We recognize him for the narcissistic person he is. Trump cares most about Trump. But, we inside the GOP must look at policy as well. The choice between Warren and Trump is clear to anyone who leans even a little bit right of center. Heck, I'm not even sure the independents who lean a touch left will vote for Warren.

Trump is a populist. He will say whatever he needs to say to get elected. The most important thing he has done for me is to keep the SCOTUS conservative. That alone is enough to secure my vote.

I recognize my biases particularly my desire to maintain the US Constitution as it exists now not how some liberal judges think it ought to be.

I want clean water and air. I respect the environment and think we should do things to keep it clean and safe. I lean left of Trump on these issues but still far right of Warren/Sanders New Green Deal. Most likely, I fall in the middle where most people are on this issue. Reasonable policy changes that won't bankrupt our nation.

Where is Howard Schultz when the Democrats need him the most? By far, the most reasonable and smartest of the Dems I heard at those Town Hall discussions.

You keep talking about how the Democrats aren’t giving any other choices other than the “leftist commies,” but where are the Republican alternatives to the fat loser we have in office now? Should I vote for a 1990s NY tabloid laughingstock or should I vote for someone who cares enough to read a book maybe occasionally even if it means I pay a few more bucks in taxes?

I certainly understand your predicament which is why I had family members vote for Clinton. Trump is a hard pill to swallow.
But, Obama was more about taxes than Warren. She is much farther left than Obama on almost every issue.

Warren wants to legislate our way of life from straws to gasoline taxes (think $3.00 per gallon tax). The purpose behind the taxes isn't just to raise money but force the middle class to abandon their current way of life. This is far more radical than raising the ACA tax or income tax rates. Warren wants us all to change the very way we live our lives whether we agree with her or not.

Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate Elizabeth Warren

CNBC’s David Faber told Cramer on Tuesday’s “Squawk on the Street” that he’s hearing the same rumblings about Wall Street being fearful of a Warren presidency.
“It’s another reason why companies are being implored to do things now ... because come early to mid-2020 if Elizabeth Warren is rolling along, everybody is going to be like, ‘That’s it,’” Faber said.

because it won't be just a few more bucks. it will be a lot more out of your pocket to our extremely inefficient government. your hard-earned money.

how can you be a high-earner and support those who will raise your taxes? if you're a college kid, or of low income ilk, like many Democrats and hate rich folks, i get it. tax the rich. get Warren in there, punish high earners. get socialism rolling.

but you rich. you're a masochist and don't know it. i like some Democrat ideas, but not this one.

"There should be no billionaires," Sanders tweeted to announce his plan. "We are going to tax their extreme wealth and invest in working people."

Tell me that isn't CONFISCATION of personal wealth for the good of the common man. Is this the USA? I agree taxes may need to be raised but a wealth tax is confiscation because that money has already been earned with taxes paid.
Love your posts Blade, but the bolded is pure BOOMER drivel. Us millennials are already saddled with extreme school debt. Now that we are about to start earning our fair share you want us to pay for MORE wars, student loans, Medicare, and illegals? Will millennials ever get a break, or will boomers demand it all?

Yeah. The variously attributed saying "the market can remain irrational a lot longer than you can remain solvent" comes to mind. On one level I'm watching people bet against Trump with the same morbid fascination I have for people who short the stock market.

Warren will be the nominee and she will pose a serious threat to Trump. She’s a more attractive Hillary Clinton. I know she’s a “swamp monster” with her Harvard law school connections, so I’m sure she will have her Wall Street backers backs when the time comes. They all do at these high levels.

I wouldn’t be so convinced that the media’s hand will be forced into criticizing Warren, the media has had a general love affair with the left for some time. As I mentioned earlier, all one has to do is read the tone of every trump story (good or bad) and look at the headshot they choose to see where the media is at.

And at the end of the day, if you take away his off the cuff remarks, his actual presidential actions have benefitted this country. Despite what we’ve come to believe since JFK, it’s not really the job of the president to be a lovable American sweetheart, its to be the CEO of the one of the largest and wealthiest nations on the planet.

Because there are certain things that should never be for sale, because they are priceless, such as the American democracy and values, the country, the Law. The damage that's being done to the country by Trump and his mob of cronies may take a long time to be repaired.

I feel so disgusted when I see people put their own well-being ahead of the country. That's what people in those famous sh-thole countries do.

You couldn't be farther from reality.

Don't you understand that the Democrat platform is elimination of free speech? Confiscating firearms? Forcing creative expression? Normalizing racism in college admissions?

You’re both right.

GND= Green New Deal

"Another emerging theme from the survey is that people do not want to spend their own money to combat climate change. Thirty-seven percent do not want to pay any additional taxes, and only 14 percent are willing to pay even $1 more a month.
Since the GND promotes a 100 percent switch to renewables, we also asked whether people would be willing to pay more in various costs to support such a switch. A resounding 70 percent of respondents said they are unwilling to pay more in electric bills, 66 percent are unwilling to pay more in taxes, and 67 percent are unwilling to pay more in food costs to see a shift to 100 percent renewable energy.
In short: People are concerned about climate change but have other more pressing issues on their mind as the election heats up. When climate change is the focus, they do not want to pay more, nor do they trust politicians to tackle the issue."

yeah voters are stupid, and?

yeah voters are stupid, and?

Warren vs Trump. Those "stupid" voters will decide the next election in 2020. Despite Trump's problems and lack of personal appeal he has the ammo to up against Warren. Voters don't want to pay for the Green New Deal and they don't back Medicare for all. So, even though many of you think Trump won't stand a chance against Warren the issues will still play a major role in who gets elected.

Btw, how is this scandal different than Watergate (a president looking for dirt on political opponents in an illegal fashion), except that nowadays Americans have the political mentality of a corrupt third-world country (because of the last 2 years), so they are not outraged anymore?

That's what may become the irreparable damage to our country and democracy, especially in 4 more years. But please keep counting your millions; they are way more important.

Tell them a little louder how stupid they are. Maybe not all of them heard Hillary say it in 2016. 🙂
I’m not running for office :zip:
Hillary accidentally told the truth that one time.
It would be amazing if politicians told the truth, like Bulworth or something.

Climate change and the environment won’t matter until it hits people’s daily lives. When you can’t get food or clean water. When the oceans have been completely depleted of all fish. When there are literally wars being fought over food. My guess is we start seeing some of this in the next 50 years unless we change course.

Because Trump is an idiot and not a politician. He doesn't have the political experience or I.Q. to fully comprehend some of these issues. I'm not making excuses but a lot of people see him that way. Nixon was a cold, calculating politician with decades of experience. He knew exactly what he was doing and to whom.

So, I guess if you are a novice and an idiot the people do cut you some slack.

I get voting for Trump in 2016.

I ever understand voting for him again in 2020.

But to say that he is a good man, good president, or even a competent human being is literally the behavior of a delusional psych patient.

The last 3 years has made me wonder:
Is there even a line for how much of a scumbag the GOP will support as long as they toe the party line.

We will change course just as we gave up the horse poop on our streets. But, we need another decade to make most of these changes affordable enough to our middle class.

Oh, please! This guy was schooled by Ray Cohn, and made him proud (even Ray Cohn is said to have called him "cold"). He's anything but a novice and an idiot. The idiots are the ones looking for excuses.

What Trump did with the Ukrainian president wasn't great, however, I do not see how it was illegal. Asking another politician (who claims to be fighting corruption) if they can investigate a political opponents corrupt family in their country?? I got to imagine this happens all the time...

It's the same as 2016, the majority voting for the lesser of two evils. I'm not voting FOR Trump, I'm voting AGAINST Warren. I care less about the person and more about the policy. Trump can tweet away with his crazy $h!t, but as long as he doesn't spend $20 Trillion on a Green New Deal, $30 Trillion on National Health Care, and $3 Trillion on forgiving student loan debt I'm happy...well happy-er.

BTW - Where'd all the people go who were up in arms with the waste of spending $5 Billion on a wall? Are these REALLY the same people ok with $5-10 TRILLION spent on the green new deal? Surprising for sure.

Sure, in third-world dictatorships. It was like Godfather IV, especially the part where it mentioned Giuliani. What's the president's personal lawyer, who doesn't exist as a member of US government, doing in a diplomatic discussion? Why is he even involved, unless we are playing Godfather? And, if this discussion was so innocent, why was the White House so desperate to hide it?

Keep rationalizing. Also remember the road to hell... If you don't like Warren, don't vote for her; I may not vote either. But there is really no excuse for voting for Trump except SELFISHNESS.

I come from a second-world developing country, and I'm telling you: THIS is how corruption looks. THIS is how a corrupt president who's dealing for himself and his businesses looks. To me, this is deja vu. It beats me how this isn't obvious to many millions of Americans, but, hey, this is the most naive/credulous population I have met on Earth.

I never said the conversation was innocent. Trump obviously wants dirt on Biden for the election. No doubt. Is that illegal? Is it a crime worthy of impeachment? With what we know, it is not.

Sure it's illegal. Is this the first time you hear that you cannot consort with a foreign power for electoral purposes? It's American law. That's what the whole Mueller investigation was about.

Election interference (Mueller) vs corruption investigation on a political opponent in Ukraine is a little different. I see your point though.

Actually Congress was pretty clear on this when they passed the laws back in the early ‘90s. Accepting help, monetary or otherwise, from a foreign power is illegal.

The transcript speaks for itself. Nothing was manufactured. Why don't you take a break from Fox News and go read it.

The transcript speaks to whatever your political persuasion is. Democrats read at as Trump subtly suggesting a "quid pro quo" and Republicans see that nowhere is that explicitly said - a necessary prerequisite for impeachment. There's also new reports that Ukraine didn't even know any aid was being withheld until more than a month after this phone call. Trump does ask for the investigation into a political opponent, which is bad, but not illegal. The Obama administration asked for Ukraine to investigate Manafort, Trump's campaign director, leading up to the election. Obama was caught on a hot mic telling a Russian diplomat to take it easy and he’ll have more flexibility after the election....18 months later the Russia the Romney claimed was the US’s biggest threat invaded Crimea w/o repercussion. To Republicans and independents, this is just the latest iteration of “do as I say, not as I do.”

Hillary Clinton paid a foreign agent (Michael Steele) to get dirt on Trump from Michael Steele's contacts in Russian intelligence.

Joe Biden used extortion to deflect attention from his son's job in a corrupt Ukrainian energy company.

It wasn't illegal, and the Bidens' corruption was there for the investigation; whether Biden was thought by Trump to be a political opponent is irrelevant.

It speaks so clearly that Schiff had to concoct what he thought was a comedic parody to make it seem even remotely crooked.

Try again.

Really? The president of the United States withholds $400MM from every country that doesn't investigate Americans based just on hearsay? Can you please show me a precedent, especially one involving prosecuting Republicans?

That entire phone conversation rings like blackmail, or quid pro quo, to anybody who's ever seen corruption before. And withholding an immense foreign aid (when compared to the Ukrainian economy) just confirmed it.

Let me stop posting here, because this is getting futile: those who have always found excuses for Trump will continue finding them, even when reality stares them in the face. Because it's not about the truth; it's about sharing the same bigoted values and/or selling themselves and the country out for thirty pieces of silver less in taxes.

Actually Steele was originally paid by a CONSERVATIVE news organization and only came to work for Clinton after the fact. Steele is a private citizen and not a foreign agent, nice try though.

You really like to suspend reality when it suites you, don’t you? Biden’s son was never under investigation and as has been stated multiple times neither was the gas company at the time of the prosecutor’s firing. The prosecutor was seen by almost everyone (literally the EU, the Ukrainian people and the US) as being corrupt. Multiple agencies wanted him out. So your line of reasoning here is totally flawed.

This is such a joke. They are now going to “retroactively” make material classified in order to potentially prosecute people for security violations. Insane.
