This thread is for discussing applications to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in the 2024-2025 (class of 2029) cycle.
I applied to Wisconsin last year for the first time, I did not get in but I had an application review this spring. I was told by the person in admissions that they do replace repeated courses in their science and prerequisite calculations. However, for the overall and last 30 remain what they are (if that makes sense). In my case, I got a C in biochem. I am retaking it currently and on track for an A this time around. 🤞 Since both grades are on my transcript and within my last 30 credits those two grades will be "averaged" in those calculations. But for my science and prerequisite GPA calculations my retake grade will replace the original!Hi! Not to ask a stupid question, but I have a stupid question. I am finalizing my lists of schools I am applying to after calculating my GPAs for the 4th time lol. anyways, on the website for Wisconsin it states "Applicants become ineligible if they receive a grade less than C in a required course." Does anyone know if they accept repeated courses and if so if they allow the replacement or simply average the two scores. Thanks!
Hi, did you have a supplemental? & was there essay responses in it?Hi everyone! I know every year applicants are always wondering when they will hear back from schools. This past cycle we had no interviews and offers were extended by email on 2/16! Obviously no guarantee that the timeline will stay the same but hopefully it will give you somewhat of an idea🙂
I’m a little confused on that! Do only eligible applicants get the supplemental or do all applicants? Is anyone else kinda weirded out that supplemental apps don’t get sent out until November?
I think all applicants?? But honestly not sure it was pretty vagueI’m a little confused on that! Do only eligible applicants get the supplemental or do all applicants?
From UW Madison's School of Veterinary Medicine website: The UW–Madison School of Veterinary Medicine also has a supplemental application. Our supplemental application provides the opportunity for applicants to expand on their personal and background experiences. All applicants are required to complete the supplemental application, which includes a UW-Madison application fee of approximately $60. Information regarding supplemental application will be e-mailed to eligible applicants after November 1st.I’m a little confused on that! Do only eligible applicants get the supplemental or do all applicants?

Right before Thanksgiving, woo woo!I called admissions today and they said to expect the supplemental application in about two weeks.
There’s also a chance on that to provide any updates about your current/planned classes. I just decided to retake a pre-requisite this spring and wanted to make sure they knew I’m doing that, so if anyone else has changes like that, they told me to put it on the supplemental application when it comes!
No, we should be hearing something this week or next week.Anyone hear anything yet?
Everyone gets one as long as they meet requirementsDoes everyone receive the supplemental if they meet the requirements or is it if they have already reviewed your application ?
I know for sure it will ask about updated experiences, so things that you did not previously list on VMCAS. Any new jobs, clubs, research etc that you have since submitting your application.Does anyone know what the supplemental application usually entails? Like if there’s essays etc.
I didn’t get it either! They said on or shortly after so I got the impression it was just them saying sometime Monday - Wednesday this week. The 25th is almost over. Has anyone received an email with the supplemental application yet?
NopeThe 25th is almost over. Has anyone received an email with the supplemental application yet?
Anyone has received the email?
i would assume you would just not submit the supplemental and then your application would be withdrawnDo we have to email them if we want to withdraw or do we just not submit the supplemental? I decided I don’t want to pursue this application any further because I don’t have the funds to pay for the supplemental.
Do we know if Wisconsin offers supplemental fee waivers? I know that some of the schools I have applied to gave me waivers for the supplemental app, but I don't know if Wisconsin does that.Do we have to email them if we want to withdraw or do we just not submit the supplemental? I decided I don’t want to pursue this application any further because I don’t have the funds to pay for the supplemental.
I didnt receive any VMCAS waivers so Im not sure they would give a waiver without that. Also, idk how worth it it is, especially since the OOS internal cut off GPA is way higher than mine.Do we know if Wisconsin offers supplemental fee waivers? I have not.Hi! I’m sorry, not sure about your question. Have you received the supplemental yet?
Did you get accepted or just stating that your are oos?First time OOS applicant!! Good luck everyone!
Do you know what the OOS gpa cut off is? I don’t want to waste my time/money.I didnt receive any VMCAS waivers so Im not sure they would give a waiver without that. Also, idk how worth it it is, especially since the OOS internal cut off GPA is way higher than mine.
Wisconsin publishes old class stats on their website. This is for the class of 2028 averages. Extremely high. Oos accepted students had cumulative undergrad gpa of 3.89, required course 3.92, and last 45 3.95.(But idk about any cutoffs)Do you know what the OOS gpa cut off is? I’m curious if the delay will push everything further as they usually have decisions around Feb 15th~ and maybe they’d be closer to March now😭😭. If we ever get the supplemental.
What could possibly be holding them up??? Isn’t it just a few essay questions???!!I’m curious if the delay will push everything further as they usually have decisions around Feb 15th~ and maybe they’d be closer to March now😭😭
I would't let this discourage anyone. Many schools publish this "cutoff" but if you have an outstanding application but lack the GPA you could get accepted (depends on circumstances). I've heard people with way lower GPA than this and have been accepted. If you really want it and have the means for the supp app then submit it.Wisconsin publishes old class stats on their website. Just stating! I'm watching this thread almost on a daily basis to make sure I haven't missed itDid you get accepted or just stating that your are oos?
Demographics in terms of what? Like background, sex, age? I think those are on their website as well but I could be mistaken!Does anyone know the demographics on the people accepted to UWM? This is something that could make it or break it for me
