No - not really necessary as you really do not need to talk about the game IRL and it is possible that one could be a wolf while the other is not, so it is important to just play the game and not divulge info that way!

Yeah the PM restrictions could definitely become a problem with small inboxes as well as you can usually only send to 1 person at a time when you first join.
