Act 2, Final Scene: A village, A tale, An Encloser
As they entered the summoner’s village, they noticed all of the faatle’s roaming about.
“So, Biek, do any people live here or is it just….”
“Not anymore. Not since my grandpa died two years ago. There was a truly terrible event that happened here before I was born. It devastated almost all of the village, and the few that survived all died within a few years afterwards. All but my grandpa and me.”
“What happened?”
“There are weird reports of what exactly happened. The biggest report was a green skull within the sky, a shining green light, and then explosions, and nothing. But, it’s all rumors, no one truly knows what happened anymore…” The girl sighed, clearly distressed by this topic.
“So, what’s their to do in this village?” Kailvan asked with a smile.
Sheath had an overwhelming memory flash over her. She was in a boat. Waves were crashing hard against the boat. In the distance, a green skull. Explosions. A green beam. She called out for her mom, but knew there would be no answer.
“Sheath, Sheath!”
“Oh sorry, what?”
“Don’t you want to visit the gellune wall! It tells all about the gellunes of this village!”
“Umm yeah, sure! Sorry, I just was thinking about things. It’s nothing, let’s head over there!”
They walked over to the wall, and went inside the circular mini arena where the wall was. Immediately, Sheath looked in shock. There was one of hers. Another. Another. Almost all of the gellunes in here belonged to her.
“Biek…. These all… They almost all used to be my gallunes… That is except this, and this, and this, and this one.”
“That’s impossible. You would have horns. Only those of this village have had these gellunes, and everyone in this village was born with horns.”
“I am sure… I remember Iji teaching me about this back when…”
“Wait, you know Iji? Little doctor, looks like a turtle, super nerdy.”
“umm…. Yes. How do you know him?”
“He came by here about a year ago. He gave me a letter, said I would know who to give it to if the moment was right. Actually…. Sheath, do you want to take a look at the letter? I don’t want to get your hopes up, but… It may have some answers.”
“Okay…”
“Okay, go with this faatle, they know where the letter is. In the meantime…” She shoots a beaming look at Kailvan. “I am going to prepare my man some supper.”
“My man?...”
But she was already off before he could reply. She headed to the kitchen, where the remaining Faatle, minus her trusty companion Gam were lined up. “Okay FAATLEs. We have one chance here. Kailvan doesn’t know it yet, but he was meant for me and I was meant for him. We need to show him that I can be the perfect house wife for him, and do all the things a woman is expected to! So, you all need to help me.”
“Agreed, without us, you would definitely lose him.”
“Yeah, your cooking isn’t great.”
“Your cleaning capabilities are even worse.”
“And…”
“YOU KNOW WHAT WHO ASKED YOU ALL! As I was saying, we are going to do rocktail soup.” She starts designating tasks to all the Faatles.
“Okay, move out!”
She then muttered to herself, “And please don’t mess up, I don’t want to be alone any longer.” She started tearing up before turning on the burners to the stove.
------
Kailvan was searching around the living room of the house, and noticed an area with marks on the wall. On one of them was labeled Gam and Biek, born on the same day, followed with several, day, month, and year markings on the wall, likely associated with various heights at that time.
“Born on the same day? Hmmm….”
----
The faatle brought the note to Sheath, who started reading it in her head.
“Dearest Lazuli,
It is not important how I know you would eventually come to be here. What is important, is you knowing the truth, a truth that has been kept from you for a long time. You see, you are not truly a princess. Or at least, you were not born as such.
You were found on the shores of Bigantria by the person you believe to be your father. He was on the shores, ready to run away from Bigantria, his kingdom, due to the death of his beloved daughter, Lazuli. You looked almost identical to Lazuli. Your father and mother were no where to be found. You both needed each other, and I still believe fate brought you two together that day.
After the king’s pushing, the queen agreed to allow you to be their adopted daughter. Very few had known of the princess’s passing, so they were able to have you be her with ease. Except there was one… or rather two major problems. You still had your summoning horns. They were only buds at that age, but that was an obvious difference between you and the princess. So they had your summoning horns removed.
Eventually, I came to this village to seek out your true history, I believed eventually you deserved the right to know. I met an old man, with his child, a little spit fire of a girl. She told me the story of the family that left when the village was attacked. They had entrusted the majority of their gellunes to you, to protect the family, as they saw their village as doomed. You are the heir to something greater than a queenship. You are the heir to the summoning village, and with it, the unlimited power of gellunes.
I know that if you are reading this, I am likely no longer for the Vale. I just want you to know that I treasured every moment that I had with you, everything that I was able to teach you, and considered you a member of my family. You are one of the strongest people I know, and I know whatever hardships you face, you shall prevail victorious. Remember that the most obvious choice is not always the right choice, and that multiple paths can lead to a happy ending.
Love Always,
Iji”
The princess was bursting in tears by the end of the letter. The Faatle got her a handkerchief from the closet, which she took graciously.
“So…. I am…. Biek is…. I……”
The princess was speechless, and drifted back into her thoughts.
---------
“So Kailvan, how is the food?”
“Absolutely delicious, you did a great job!” As he shoveled more and more of the soup into his mouth.
“You know… Maybe you can get used to these great meals…. And stay for awhile?”
“Ummm, yeah, I mean that would be nice….” Kailvan looks away awkwardly. “But our continent is in full fledged war, and we need to figure out if there is anything we can do to stop it!”
“Hmph, do you just think I can’t provide for you well enough?”
“No, no. You have been wonderful. We have friends and family back at home, and everyday as the wars rage on, they are put more and more at risk.”
“I understand. Well, if you won’t stay, then I will come with you!”
“But what about your faatle?”
“Ah, they always seem to manage well on their own. Except Gam, Gam hasn’t left my side since we were both born. Given that we were born on the same day at the same time. Funniest coincidence really. But we have been inseparable ever since. Even have a friendship ribbon, see.” Biek flipped her hair around, and Gam turned her tail around, showing an elegant purple band in both.
“Well, we can certainly use the help of a powerful summoner!” He looks at Sheath. “Not that we don’t already have a fantastic one, but definitely the more force the better!”
“Biek… I think we are of the same tribe. I think you are… Family.”
“I know.” Biek said quietly. “I could sense you were in trouble from this village. That’s why I came to the castle. There is a bond linking the two of us. And I believe it’s the bond of family.”
They sat silently and ate for the next few minutes.
Kailvan stood up once done. “Okay, lets go check out that Efil tree, we need to see what’s going on there, especially if it produces smog.”
It took about half a day, with them sleeping in a camper overnight, but they eventually made it to the tree. They arrived at the base to find a weird star pattern in the center, with the words “Firma” written on the outside.
“I think we need to step on this.” Kailvan said. “Everyone on three… one… twoo…. Three…..”
They all jumped on, and it immediately descended downwards in a fast pace. As they looked around…. This tree did not seem very tree like, it was much more mechanical in nature.”
They walked across a pathway, and noticed all of the roots seemed to be moving, making a whirring noise. They saw a sparkling rainbow-like path chute that headed straight downwards. “I think…. We need to go down that.”
Keke spoke up, “This is bad… I feel a very strong, very evil presence at the bottom of this. I don’t think we want to…”
“We need to….
Kailvan, without consulting the others, jumped onto the chute, riding it downwards. Everyone else followed, reluctantly, behind.
When they arrived at the bottom, a booming voice took over. “Who DARES… You are not them. UNDER WHAT PRETENSE DO YOU COME?”
“Who are you, what are you? Why are you here?”
My teachings do not allow me to lie, so I shall answer you before I bring you to your untimely death. I am The Encloser. I am a being from the planet Firma. I was entrusted to ensure the cycle of souls, and ensure that the souls are properly funneled to Firma.”
“Ensure that the souls are properly funneled to Firma?
“Yes. To bring souls from your world to mine. To save my dying planet.”
“So you kill others in order to accomplish this?”
“Only when I must. Normally, I simply divert the cycle of souls so that instead of the souls returning to this planet, they return to mine, which allows your planet to slowly become ours.”
“But…. You are releasing Smog onto our planet. Aren’t you bringing souls onto our planet.”
“You misinterpret what the smog is. Attached with a soul is energy, very strong energy. If I were to funnel the energy to my planet, it would destroy the planet by sending enough souls. So, instead…. I release the byproduct of that energy back onto your planet. You call it smog. I see it as the heat of a chemical reaction. With enough energy stored up, it can actually support life, in the form of what you call monsters.”
“So you are saying, if we kill, you there would be no more smog on our continent.”
“Yes, that is correct little ones. But I have foreseen my death, and it does not come at your hands today. I die to a large creature, a…”
All of a sudden, the little girl summoned the last summon she had not used yet. It was a black shadow on the ground, until it leaped out from being a shadow, and became a ginormous, grotesque beast, which grabbed the tree like creature by it’s roots and severed them from the ground. It swiped with extremely sharped claws, cutting the creature in half. Then, it devoured the first half of the tree like creature, and then the second half. And then…. It was no more.
However, something had happened to Gam during this. It seems a very small smog monster had injected a deadly poison aimed straight for Biek, and Gam had gotten between the monster and Biek, taking the full string of the attack. Gam laid there, talking telepathically to Biek.
"Biek… The poison is acting quick, there is no way to cure me in time. Listen, there is something important I have to tell you. I am not a Faatle that was born on the same day as you. I am one of your gellunes. I manifested myself as a Faatle to always keep you safe. Know that, I, and the rest of the gellunes care for you so deeply, and you have such a large heart. I.... I am sorry I could not protect you for longer. You have been more than a true friend to me. You have been a sister. I will never forget you."
Gam expired moments after the final words. Biek started bawling, tears streaming down her face. Kailvan croushed down to her, gave her a hug, and allowed her to cry on his shoulder. They stayed like that for a few minutes, until Biek finally stepped back, and wiped her face.
"I am sorry you saw me weak like this, strong people do not cry."
"No, it is the opposite. It is the strong ones who do cry. It is the weak ones who keep it inside. I am so sorry for what happened. We can..."
"
We need to head upstairs, I think I hear something overhead."
Within minutes, all across The Vale, the smog had dissipated.
As they started taking the series of elevators upwards, they could hear the booming of cannons coming from above. “Has my mother came for me.” Sheath wondered. As the elevator rushed upwards. They were quite surprised by what they found when they reached the top
END OF ACT 2.
Dead is Lawper, GAM, a gellune masquerading as a faatle, VILLAGER, who could always pm with Biek and would die in place of her if she were ever to die throughout the game.
Dead is Kcoughli, The Encloser, TRUE ANTAGONIST, a being not of this world (see write up shortly), who could control the amount of smog in given areas in order to direct smog monster attacks against individuals. Their death is an automatic concluder of Act 2 (although they were always fated to die at the end of Act 2 if another trigged had activated the conclusion).
There are 20 players remaining in the game, 17 can be targeted at night. Night deadline is set for 7 am EST again, however, will not object to closing at 12 am EST if I have all actions in.
