wow, less than 1/3 of interviewees are accepted?
According to the MSAR, 190 are the number of matriculants. I would venture a guess and say that the number accepted are perhaps close to 2x 190.

Yup sounds about right.

US News lists the number of students who received acceptances.
According to my book from some years ago (I think 2007) there were about 600 interviews and 400 acceptances.
I'm sure the ratio is not the same now, but shouldn't have changed by too much. I'll check it out at the bookstore or something and post if I get a chance.

So I guess no one's received any acceptances yet?

Hi Sara,

It is very nice of you answering questions of students on the forums of studentdoctor.net.
May I ask what the best way is to check the status of application?
I received an email, saying that my app was completed 8 weeks ago. Since then, I have not heard back from RFU.

Thanks

I'll be attending the November 4 interview, arriving the day before at O'Hare at 5:06pm. Would anyone like to split a cab? Or have any insights as to utilizing public transport?
Was there for an interview in September.
For anyone planning ahead for transportation, here are some tips:

Renting a car (if you're old enough) is definitely cheaper than a cab, you can rent for $20~30.
But know that getting to North Chicago from O'Hare is a bit tricky, and be sure to have exact change for the toll, which is around $1.50, and a good GPS (either a smart phone or dedicated GPS).
For the toll, you could rent the electronic device that goes in the car that automatically pays the toll (don't know the name), but I think it's a bit more expensive than paying cash.

If you're considering public transport, you can take the subway to downtown Chicago from O'Hare, and take the Metra system train (UP-N) up to North Chicago, which is probably the cheapest way, but will take longer. CMS has a shuttle service for the train station.

Didn't take the Metra train but I did take the subway, (O'hare to chicago). If safety is a concern the subway felt pretty safe and clean, I guess as long as it's not too late in the evening (I was on it around 9 PM).
It does take 30 minutes to get to Chicago from O'Hare though.

You should absolutely e-mail her if you have questions! She's made herself available, but our administrators, contrary to what you might believe, don't scour SDN. You can get her at the following e-mail address:

[email protected]

Here's to hoping the adcom met yesterday and we find out if we're going to be future doctors today!:D

So, when I was rejected from RFU, I was super bummed out....but now with this news of then going on probation, looks like the joke isn't on me after all haha

anyone small-pooled lately?

Me! I was so sad to receive the email :(
Definitely better than rejection.

1st week in october. I wonder if they are going to review people in batches or just give out decisions to everyone who has interviewed up until this point

Your choice of content and grammatical composition made your statement very difficult to translate... especially if you're referring to RFUCMS probation that occurred 10 years ago?

I've been doing some typical neurotic premed searches on SDN, and apparently acceptance posts were up on SDN around 4:30PM (CDT) 2 years in a row.

So I guess we won't have to check e-mails like crazy first thing in the morning...
I guess we'll have to wait till later this afternoon to see if today's the day!

Thanks. Now I can stop checking my email so compulsively. :scared:

They just got placed on probation this week, according to the posts from the last page.

My mistake, I had no idea or the intuition to look at previous posts... that's REALLY interesting...

Small pooled. Complete 9/5, 3.9/31, OOS.

Hmm. I was complete 9/25. I guess I'm waiting on a rejection since I didn't hear anything today..

Hopefully we hear tomorrow :D Last year, they heard on a Wednesday I believe

Definitely e-mail Sara Nobbe, one of our recruitment specialists, if you have questions! As students we don't see much impact from the probationary status, but you can e-mail [email protected] if you're curious as to what probation means or how CMS plans to keep us updated on the process.

I don't think so at all. Seriously- AT ALL. :)

There was someone else that was complete 9/5 and was small-pooled today as well. Keep your chin up- it's still so early and the process still ongoing.

I am 9/17 and I was originally getting depressed but you think about it- small-pool emails only went out for 30 minutes- maybe they didn't even get to them all.

Guys don't lose out hope! I've been small pooled for about a month (complete August IIRC). I think they are small pooling candidates first and then sending out IIs afterwards. I have faith in all of us! Nobody lose out :)

Especially when there is one week between our dates, and almost three weeks between my date and the 9/5 applicant.

:luck:

Totally true. I got small pooled and was sad but soon after, got an II. They don't just say small pool to make you feel better- they mean it. I have a feeling all interviews got small pooled at some point. It's still early, too; stay positive! :)

Do any of you know if RF send out decisions via mail or email?

hope so! on saturday, sara nobbe said decisions would be going out "later this week" so that could easily be today! or tomorrow or friday hah

:xf: fingers. Good luck! When did you interview?
