A. If it was not included on your AMCAS application, please list your entire curriculum plan for the 2006-2007 academic year. (If you are not currently in school, you may leave this question blank.)
B. Briefly describe (in approximately 50 words) what you are doing if you are no longer a fulltime student.
C. Briefly describe (in approximately 100 words) any health-related experience and/or research experience (volunteer or employed). Also, indicate the time and frequency of your involvement. Note: If you have had experience in several health-related areas, list each with a very brief description. Or, you may choose the most meaningful experience and describe it in more detail.
D. Briefly describe (in approximately 100 words) any special interests attracting you to Emory.

And an additional essay for Emory's MD/MPH program:
* Please describe any past experience in public health and how you wish to combine medicine with public health in your future career (500 words or less).

The list below was a "reply" to an extremely old version. Looque, that's not your fault, I left an old version in the first post, hadn't thought of the fact that if I put it there, it would never be updated unless I was around to update it. So I took off that list.

I hope this list is really no-kidding complete. Somebody give me the noggins-up if I'm missing something. And is Albany the University of Albany or NYMC or SUNY or what? I'm too lazy to look it up, somebody who knows fix it for me. :)

I was wondering if someone has the questions for West Virginia University? I want to add a few more schools, but I just want to see if I would want to answer their essays first. I know it's a screener too. Thanks in advance.

BU and Tufts are up there, just look at the list further up the page. I don't know about the others since I'm not applying there, but I don't know if the secondaries are out yet, you can try checking out the other secondary thread.

Does anyone know if MCW, Meharry, and U.of Pittsburgh screen before they give out secondaries?

I've heard that Michigan State is giving out secondaries and interviews. Can someone post the secondary questions please? Thanks.

Someone posted on another thread that there is a 2-week deadline for Michigan State's secondary. If anyone can post the questions and doesn't mind giving some of us extra time to work on it, that would be great.

i heard rochester does have essays....just that they give it to you after they give you the interview

Given after you schedule your interview (must be complete 1 week before interview):
1. What interests do you hope to continue or develop as you pursue your medical education at Rochester?

I don't have the other one copied, I think just filled it out right then and it asked (I think) what've you been doing since graduation?

List extracurricular, community or significant leisure activities in which you participated while in college and since graduation. Indicate the approximate hours per week spent in each activity and how long, in months, you participated. Indicate offices or leadership positions held and a brief description of your role in these activities (use additional sheets if necessary).

In your own words, explain your motivation for seeking a career in medicine.

Please describe the geographical setting in which you think you would most like to practice following medical training. Include the following information if known: the region of the country, the name of the state, the region of the state and the name of the town and county (use additional sheets if necessary).

If applicable, indicate any special experiences, unusual factors or other information not previously included in your AMCAS application or this supplement that you feel the admissions committee should consider when evaluating your application.:luck:

WT ???? Parents ? Siblings ? Hmmm.. that would be interesting if they weed out the people who have bad relationships with family members.

Does anyone have Oregon Health Science's secondary questions?

Thanks!

How about East Tennessee State University (ETSU)?

Brown:

Please indicate your activities for the 2006-2007 year. If you are in school, please list your courses. If you are working, please describe your job, including duties and responsibilities. (Supplemental pages may be attached.)

Brown Med values applicants excelling in one or more of the following categories: a) medical leadership and excellence; b)academic accomplishment; c)research experience and productivity; and d) community service. Describe how you plan to become an exceptional physician embodying excellence in at least one of these areas. (Supplemental pages may be attached.)

They sure chose to word this oddly. Do they expect you to re-hash stuff that is already in your experiences section of your primary app? WTF?

could someone please put the character or word limit on the duke secondary essay's?

could someone please put the character or word limit on the duke secondary essay's?

You might want to worry about their excess-apostophe limit. It might be low.

Sadly, they don't give an explicit word limit.
There is a text-editor box. I don't know whether that imposes an implicit limit, because it wasn't working properly in my browser (I use firefox, so I'll try IE next time.)

I think academic research means academic medicine based on the choices in their list.

As far as where primary care fits in...I'm not sure that's quite the direction intended by that question. I suggest that you look at those five choices and think about which one describes how you plan to use your MD (rather than trying to see where the specialty you're interested in fits into those choices).

I disagree. Academic Research would be research in an academic setting. Academic medicine sounds more encompassing: lecturing, teaching student clerkships, wards and research if you wanted to.

Hey- I called LSU New Orleans and the woman in admissions says that it's changed and they don't send emails out anymore...and then she gave me the website which she said I should be able to get to by just going to the admissions website....BUT there is no direct link to the secondary.

I called twice b/c a week or so ago somebody else (or the same person) said I should get an email any day now....Now this lady is saying it's changed? Do they change horses in the middle of the stream????

Anybody else heard this? They've had my AMCAS and letters since 7/18/06.

Actually, I got an email. Did you get it yet ?

???

on the Stanford secondary, if you want to do academic research, you check off the "academic medicine" choice. It's that easy. That's the sector of medicine you'd be going to if you wanted to do academic research.

Does anyone know what the essays are for WVU's (west virginia university) secondary?
