Hey,
I am a Canadian who is interested in matching to US orthopaedic surgery programs.
1- Are there certain programs that are Canadian friendly? (if so which ones)
2- Any other suggestions and insights would be much appreciated.
I just want to hear from the normal people on this who have applied or are applying and NOT the top candidates who don't get the struggle (respect and all but that's just not me)... Be brutal if it's the truth. My weakness is grades. I can network the hell out of anything but shelfs/USMLEs are...
So I'm an M2 trying to find an opportunity to get in on an ortho research project in case I want to apply to ortho (not 100% set on it) or other competitive surgical programs. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a program to hop in on, but have had no luck yet.
I've been taking other research...
so an awkward thing happened to me this past week. I discovered podiatry. I mean, I rediscovered the path to podiatry this past week.
Let me start off by saying there are so many reasons I want to be a physician. And NONE of them involve the letters at the end of my name.
I have applied this...
Hello everyone. I am a fourth year osteopathic student interested in pursuing orthopaedic surgery. I am competitive as an applicant in all fields and have had MD peers tell me that if I was an MD I would have an easy time getting a residency spot. I'm not here to debate anything prior to this...
Hi everyone,
I am a third year medical student from a US MD program who would like to match Ortho next year. Before medical school I was a professional musician, which lead me to the idea of being a hand surgeon so that I could help other fellow musicians or craftsman who rely on their hands to...
Hey, so it has been about 2 months since I started my MD course. So far everything has been going great!
The thing is, I am so interested and motivated to learn Anatomy and I find it very fascinating which is good because I plan on becoming an Orthopedic surgeon one day.
But my university does...
I’ve always wanted to become a doctor, but the realization of how competitive things are worries me. I’m interested in both orthopedic surgery and anesthesia - two of the most competitive residencies to get into. I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I’ve shadowed a variety of...
I'm a HPSP applicant (waiting to hear back from boards whether I will be offered an acceptance). I have already been accepted to several private medical schools so saving money in addition to serving my country is rather appealing. Hesitant about HPSP only because of potential skill atrophy...
I was recently interviewed at a private practice orthopedic group, and to my surprise was asked point-blank, "So how much do want to make?" I was caught quite off guard (though I probably shouldn't have been), and in my moment of fluster, spat out what the previous residents' offers were. So, to...
I cannot find the info I'm interested in in the forums, or here...
(Apparently I cannot post a link, but the document I'm using is:)
NRMP-ECFMG-Charting-Outcomes-in-the-Match-International-Medical-Graduates-2014.pdf
It's at ecfmg
This document has a lot of information on many of the more...
I have recently been accepted to two medical programs: Ohio University's DO program, and the University of Cincinnati's MD program. Both of these schools seem promising and I have heard positive aspects from several doctors about both of them, so making this decision is difficult for me...
I am very much interested in becoming a surgeon of some sort. I am fascinated with orthopedics, organs transplants, and sports medicine. That being said, I am a female, and am always told it's "much different" for women- most don't make it, it's too hard, etc. I understand that women want to...
I actually found a surgeon who has done this. My question is, do you get dropped into the middle of the second residency or do you start at the beginning and have to do all 5-7 years?
Lets say you did orthopedics first and then did a spine fellowship(they have spine fellowships where you learn...
Hi,
I'm looking to pursue an orthopedic PT residency upon graduation. I'm currently a 3rd year PT student and graduate in December. First, would you recommend applying to schools before graduation or does that make you less competitive, or should I begin applying to schools before I graduate...

i am currently a final year medical student from Jordan ... i will graduate in about two month and i'll be doing the foundation year here ...

So I'm a junior pre-med student who is majoring in Biology. I am contemplating switching to Movement science because i LOVED my anatomy class. I am so much more interested in the way the human body works and would rather focus on this for the rest of my time in undergrad rather than looking at...
I'm currently a senior in high school, I want to become an orthopedic. I applied to 16 schools and got accepted into all of them.
My current list of colleges is Stony Brook university, albany, university at buffalo, mcphs, university of delaware, penn state, siena, geneseo, scranton, western...
Hi everyone,
I am curious to learn how productivity standards are measured across the country and across different outpatient settings. I'm wondering a few things:
1. How many patients are you expected to treat per week (or, how else is your productivity defined)?
2. How many patients do you...
