pfft.. yeah! look at those grades man...

Actually, I think UNC is quite a stretch for you. You have a decent shot at an interview, but they interview tons of out-of-staters for only a few spots, and those accepted usually have VERY competitive grades (the class average is above a 3.5, 20/19 so you can imagine what the out-of-staters have to have). Good luck, maybe we'll be classmates next year 🙂

That said, you do have solid stats and will get in at a few schools.

jaap- why does UNC interview "tons" of out-of-staters for only a few spots? What exactly does "tons" mean? 50?

I have an interview in Nov....and I actually thought I had a chance.......hah

I'm not sure, but they interview over 300 students total. I heard that last year only 170 NC residents completed secondaries and they compete for 70 or so spots. So at least 150 out of state students get interviewed for 12-15 spots. I'm glad I'm a resident!

BTW pixies_fan - your stats are awesome and I would imagine you have a good chance.

wow-that's rough. I would be glad if I were a resident, too! thanks for the info

I hope so......

jaap- i was originally scheduled for the sept. interview, but changed it to nov cuz of the hurricane/cancellation. Are there going to be a gazillion people at the oct and nov interviews now because of this? How do they interview so many people on only 2 dates? Any thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing jaap. How will they fit all of us on those two days alone. Also, they said we can expect to be done by around 1:00 pm.

Is UNC your first choice jaap?

Hot dog!

Glad your not applying to any of my schools....j/k

Very nicely done, congrats!

wow, another excellent score.
congrad, Edge
may i know which undergraduate college did you go to?

Thanks a lot shawn. The AADSAS thing should be changed to TMDSAS. How the heck can I change it?

Sure, I went one year to University of texas in Austin and transfered to Houston Baptist University for the remaining three years. I took classes at night because I had to learn about becoming a lab tech for two years during the day. I hope my hard work pays off🙂

I donno. for some reasons, i think some people's stats is way too high, so it kinda scare people away from posting their stat...
Is there resolution to that?

I am pretty sure it is. If I had something like a 3.0 GPA and a 17 DAT score on my AA I would not report my scores to you guys.

sorry, i must have missed your stat somewhere.
any help?

bumpidy bump bump...

the whole point of this forum is to help people. people who only post great stats aren't really helping. if all we saw were the really amazing stats, then we only see one side of the applicants.

come on guys, we are all here to help each other out. lets do what we can to help everyone.

I agree completely with Perfect.

The only thing that this years stats post has accomplished so far is to scare people, and cofirm that people with amazing stats do indeed get interviews(and after Dec. 1st, acceptances).

However, nothing we say will convince everybody to post their stats, so oh well.

This is my first post, I generally just read what everyone else writes, but I thought it might be useful for me to post my less than perfect stats so that others need not be so anxious about theirs. I went to a private Christian university in Nashville, TN and graduated with a 3.96 (psych major, bio and chem minor), and 3.75 sci. gpa. Since my school is relatively unknown and my major was psychology, I am assuming my gpa isn't that impressive. I had a 18 DAT (17AA) and 16 PAT. I have been invited to interview at University of Tenn, U of Kentucky, U of Louisville, U of Alabama, and U of Florida. I have had lots of shadowing time and other qualities besides super high DAT scores that worked for my benefit when applying. So, don't be discouraged if your scores aren't as high as everyone elses on this site. Most people I've interviewed with have average scores as well (meaning DAT of 17-19) and most of them had never even heard of Student Doctor Network. Good luck to everyone! 🙂

Dear Ms. Hardings,

I'd be more than happy if i had your GPA and received so many interviews already. Your stats are more than what you need to get into dental school. GPA of 3.96 is for sure less than perfect, but only .04 away!
Good Luck to you.

sincerely,

Below Average Comet

I think we should change the thread's title into who gets the best "imperfect" stats.

hardingsk, i understand your dat score is not as high as your GPA, but it is what someone(including me) would die for.
I am quite certain you will get into a dental school next year.

Actually, posting stats is a really good way to hear feedbacks.
Cos other people will give you advice to improve your chances to get in. Since this forum is annoynomous, please post yours. Maybe we should skip the name of the undergraduate university.

jojo,

Please post your scores on here. Who cares what your stats are. I can assure you that some of these scores are inflated a bit, it is an anonymous message board. Go ahead, that way you can get feedback and help yourself with the application cycle.

jojo, trust me, not all the numbers you see here are exact.

Go ahead and post your numbers. Dont worry about what everyone may think.

See, the scores themselves are not what hesitates me. The fact that adcoms and such read this board as well. As such, the scores become and identifier. After I post my scores I have to think of what I write in my posts to make sure I am not a dead give away to adcoms.

Jojo,

Either post your scores or dont. Lets not make this a big debate.

Soooo many jojos!!! My message was for jojo88 and for jojovavoom.

It scares! I would start to think if I should post everything and feeling I have.

What is the point of banning someone if they can just make a new name and come back in 5 minutes??

Hey Gavin,
Here is your opportunity to prove that the moderator can "track" someone by their IP address.

I was "Gandalf The Grey" and now i am "Gandalf The NIGGAH?"

Your on ignore buddy. I suggest everybody else ignore you too.

When you can start being helpful instead of a heckler, i might consider responding to you again.

Now be gone!

I forgot to mention, i am an electrical engineering major.

Slightly above average stats. Your home state is California, which means your out of luck w/ state schools. Why isnt UNLV on your list?

I think you will get a few interviews from eastern private schools.
Boston as you said or maybe NYU
