We do still care, no worries! I just have been really busy lately and I haven't had anything new to report because I withdrew my applications once I accepted my offer so I haven't had much to post. I will try to hang out on here more because I know you all still may want to talk about things or may need support...sorry, it just has been hectic with my thesis!

I know that feeling! Last night I had such a happy moment because I finally put all the sections of my thesis together and edited it as a whole. It's fantastic to have that over with.

But I'm still a loser who hangs out here way too much even when I'm busy doing a billion things.

I'd suspect that I'm not the only person who accepted an offer and wants to keep the program private. Academe is a small, small world. 😉

Good luck, all! :hardy:

I know what you mean.

Today was a research day, so I spent the vast majority of my day online reading through journals, e-mailing back and forth, meeting with my supervisor, etc. Of course, because I was online for the majority of the day, I was checked here every hour because.....it beat doing research?

Awesome, so I'm not the only one!

Pyschwanabe- I think it's REALLY odd that people aren't listing their acceptances. The only possibility I can explain would be that people have gotten acceptances and so they're moving on with their lives and spending less time on SDN. That and most of the current applicants still posting seem to all be on waitlists...and none of us are hearing either! Maybe action will pick up near/after April 15th?

I am still deciding between two schools. I will be posting my official decision sometime late next week (duh, the cut off is coming up) so you can anticipate that post. I'm either heading up north or to the midwest.

good luck to everyone still trying to figure it all out!+pity+

T4change,

I was going to use that quote as my signature. you beat me too it!!

"When you get a BS you think you know everything
When you get your MS you realize you know nothing
When you get your PhD you still realize you know nothing but it is ok because now you know no one else does either"

U-Conn clinical PhD - I can't believe it's finally over!

Another one here who is extremely busy trying to wrap up the cursed thesis. I was rolling right along and quite happy with my progress. And, then, our internet crashed two nights ago (need it to pull references!). Got it back up at 2AM this morning, only to have the electricity go out all day today. It came back up a few hours ago but the internet is still sketchy.

Yesterday, I went ahead and rescheduled my defense for 2 days later, which was just fine because my committee claims it works better for 'em that way. And, NOW, I get an email from the department that says I need to reschedule yet again because the university has open house for potential undergrads during that time. The floors will be open to wandering students and they don't want them walking in. I truly do not care. I just want it done already! Grrrr . . . I still have to worry about post-defense revisions, grad school dean's review, and sending the frakkin' think to the book bindery. I suspect that I am going to be cutting this awfully close! 😡

Somewhat amusing is I am the only one in the dept even close to done--two others just submitted their IRBs and the third one has yet to even write her proposal. I'm not sure how the heck they expect to be complete by the first week or two of May! 😕

I think SDN is about the only place where people know where I'm headed. Most everyone else simply knows that it's somewhere in Illinois. Fine with me. I don't want people tracking me down, particularly ones I do not know . . . and some of my current profs seem to enjoy giving out my contact info to undergrads for 'assistance' with grad school stuff. 😀

That really narrows it down, eh? 😀 G'luck with your decision! :luck:

U-Conn clinical PhD - I can't believe it's finally over!

Congrats! It's about time people received notice from UConn--I remember reading about all the rescheduling and problems with the weather some months back. T'was quite glad that I wasn't one of you guys having to worry about all the hassles associated with it.

Hmm, that reminds me. They really need to send me a rejection letter already.

HOLY CRAP.

That's incredible. They're gonna be so screwed.

:meanie: Yes, yes they are. Well, actually they may not be--at least the two who just submitted their IRBs. With my program, students are actually not required to complete a thesis; however, we are required to complete a master's project . . . sort of along same lines as thesis but not nearly as many requirements and hassles in order to complete. I am the only one doing a thesis, yet I have managed to get further along than the other students who are 'simply' doing their projects with nothing to show thus far for it. Even more irksome is that I slaved over my stats and my paper for weeks on end--and these people claim to have 'friends' who will be doing it for them within a matter of days. I love my program--It's been great to me, but there are certain aspects of it I truly think they need to re-evaluate.

Well at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you worked hard. lol

I know what you mean though... there are people in my program who are coming up with really... "special" reasons to request extensions for their final manuscript.

YAY, I'll be going to Northeastern University's School/Counseling Psychology PhD Program in the Counseling Psych Track! Anybody else going to NEU or will be the Boston area? let me know!

I'll be going to St. John's Clinical Psychology PhD Program - Adult Track! So psyched 😀 Let me know if any of you will be in St. John's or the Queens area. Rent is ridiculous!

Hi all... after some deliberation I decided on CUNY because they offered me a great package... and my loved ones are in NYC.

Anyone else going to CUNY?

Lili,

Do you have any thoughts on what got you into CUNY. I really wanted to get in but didn't eventually. The way it looks i might be applying again next year. so if you have any thoughts about what might have helped you, i'd be glad to hear.

Georgia School of Professional Psychology; clinical neuropsych track (PsyD)🙂

Cool! I have a couple of friends going there, although I do not know what exact PsyD track they are going. Best of luck to you!

Best of LUCK to YOU too...:luck:🙂

It will be Regent University's PsyD for me! Can't wait to get started!

Its as official as its going to get before the April 15th deadline, I sent in my paperwork to accept the offer from University of South Florida. I may have to rescind later, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Anyone else heading there this summer/fall?

So, I've decided I'll be going to Alliant (CSPP) in San Francisco for my PsyD. I am SO excited and relieved to have this decision done with. :hardy:

And so the countdown to August begins... I can't WAIT!!! 😀

Congrats to everyone else who's made their decision... and good luck to all those still thinking/waiting!!

thanks tkj.
Its still theoretically up in the air, and I'll deal with rescinding my offer later if it comes to that. Hopefully it won't.

For now there seemed to be no point in holding off any longer, and it seems like a solid program with a lot of great, well known faculty so I think it will be a good place for me.

ClinPsyD- I really like your signature  . Congrats on getting into that priceless school!

I know that official decisions are due by April 15th...but....April 15th is on a Sunday this year. What happens now?? I've been in touch with the 3 programs that I'm waitlisted/accepted at, to touch base about when exactly decisions will/must be made (Monday 4/16? Friday 4/13??) but nobody seems to know for sure! This is scary, since I'm planning to wait on my top choice until the bitter end before accepting my other offer. Does anyone know if there is an official, consensus decision on this?? Has anyone else encountered confusion on this issue? It seems like a pretty important detail for programs to agree on!

I'm pretty sure the APA says it'll be the next business day (Monday)

One of the programs I am looking at said I needed to have my letter of acceptance and check postmarked by the 13th (the friday).

I've been told the 16th by a few programs, but it appears to be another one of those "it depends" answers. Maybe they're telling people the Friday before in order to verify they get there by the 16th? 😕

Well, I made it official last night. I'll be attending Colorado State in the fall!🙂

I have decided to accept my offer from the Hofstra University Clinical PhD program. Yey, finally this is over! I'm so excited! 😀

Anyone else going?

That's funny - mine says it has to reach them by the 15th! Wonder if they'll be working on Sunday... 😛

I will be attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania PsyD program 🙂 Glad decisions are over!

Okay, it's a done deal! I have accepted my offer to Xavier University! 😀

Is there a "No more GRE" song??!! 🙄

i will be attending the rutgers psyd program! i was accepted yesterday off of the waiting list and am VERY excited!

Todays news reports that Adam "Pacman" Jones (a star football player for the NFL team the Tennessee Titans who was supsended for the upcoming football season due to a recent incident with a gun at a Las Vegas Strip club) has decided to make the best of his year off and return to school at West Virginia University. At WVU he will be joining our own SDNer Irish80122.

I am sure if anyone wants to PM Irish, you may be able to get an autograph. However, perhaps there should be an SDN collection to get Irish a bullet proof vest. Or perhaps Irish could get the research grant to cover protection from Pacman. My advice, if confronted by Pacman, is to put a bed sheet over your head with eye holes cut out since everyone knows that Pacman always loses to the ghosts. Unless of course Pacman knows the secret patterns and earns extra lives, then there is no telling how long he will be on the rampage. "Pacman Fever...driving me crazy!"

Widener Psy.D. program. just sent my deposit in!

I also accepted Hofstra!

Anyone else here accept Hofstra besides me and LaLuna?

🙂

 I read this earlier and thought it was going to be about a football player being accepted into a clinical psych program.

I accepted Pacific University (Portland) PsyD program. Tough call on whether to apply again next year to more PhD programs or go into massive debt. At the end of the day I didnt want to wait another year to start school and I really liked the faculty at Pacific.

Good luck to everyone!!

I just received an offer from the University of Saskatchewan, complete with amazing teaching assistantship and other opportunities.

I have the weekend to decide.

The prof talked with me for over an hour about my concerns regarding license mobility in the US/Canada. He's such a nice person, this makes my decision really really hard.

Nothing like making life-changing decisions while writing final exams, eh?

I accepted an offer a while ago and have been in contact with the prof. since but I never actually signed anything. Do I need to do anything else?

54321 - i had the same question and my prof asked that i just send a signed letter restating the terms of my acceptance letter to the program so that they could have it on file. it might be a good idea for you to do, just so that the term of your acceptance don't change unexpectedly. check with your prof first, but i would suggest sending a short, signed letter of "official" acceptance.
