anything taken at a college must be included in your AMCAS transcripts. Don't forget to request these transcripts (if you went somewhere else for your college degree)!
So the first of my transcripts was received by AMCAS. Do my grades not get verified until I formally submit my AMCAS application or can it get verified in May?
Back in High school, I took two summer classes at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (Trig and Pre-calc) in order to take Calculus my senior year
I received an A in both (which is not difficult to do)
I was wondering, do these go on my premed app??
or do they belong in oblivion??
does anyone know if you can fax a transcript request form to your school, or do you have to snail mail it? Will the AMCAS take a signature that is faxed when the school sends the transcript to AMCAS?
I know that transcripts can't be verified until you submit AMCAS so with that being said, what's the best way to be on top of the ball at this point? Do you go ahead and mail out the transcript request form and presumably the various institutions will mail out transcripts and then as soon as you can submit, if AMCAS has those transcripts they can go ahead and start verifying?
yes you can fax the form, I did.
If you wanna be on top of things send the transcripts now, and then when you submit on june 2nd yours should be one of the first ones to be verified. I remember someone saying on SDN that they sent their transcripts in may, submitted june 1st then like 5 days later they were verified. Where if you wait until late june or july you get 2-3 week verification waits.
Does anyone know how to list dates for an institution that you attended twice with a lag in between. Specifically, I attended a 4 yr undergrad institution however twice, during the summers, when I'd come home, I took some gen eds at the local community college. How do I list this? I went in the summer of 2003 and again in the summer of 2006. Thanks.
I did a search and didn't see this answered:
I TA'd 4 classes throughout my UG career - 2 chem, 1 bio and 1 programming - so they are all very different in terms of what and how much I had to do.
Do I put the 4 separately so I can highlight my individual activities there, or just make one "Teaching Assistant" category.
I'm just worried because they were all very time consuming, and I want the schools to know how much time I spent on teaching.
Suggestions? I'm inclined to leave them separated as 4 EC's...Or maybe lump the 2 chem ones together and leave the others alone?
hi all,
i had a question about submitting research grades onto amcas. i did my research in a clinical setting, meaning no benchwork and strictly patient interaction. however, i have no idea whether to submit the grades i got for research under "LECTURE ONLY" or "LAB ONLY." do you guys have any recommendations? thankyou
I think you can 're-do' your AMCAS and just add more schools, but I'm sure there is some sort of time delay involved.
Why on Earth are you doing this? State school situation or something?

Hey are you supposed to send in your transcripts when you're ready to submit your AMCAS... or before that? Also, how long before submitting your AMCAS should you send your transcript? My school will send it out within like 2 business days, so I figured I would just send them right after i submit my app. but now I see people on SDN submitting RIGHT NOW... why?
AMCAS sends u an email, not sure if u can check on the primary i didnt see a way tooWhere do you look to see if they have received your transcripts?
I sent out my request forms to my 2 institutions last week and want to know where to check if they have arrived.
Thanks!
Hi, I took a jc (semesters) class in high school and when I report it on AMCAS I am supposed to put freshman 2006-2007 but since I am at a quarter system school do i put Quarter 1 even though the jc was on semesters? Thanks
Also, can I just not put in my in progress courses? I am taking some pass/no pass and i dont want to have to put those if i dont have to.

Do LOE have to be officially received and verified by AMCAS before we can submit the application?
I don't think my letter writers will have it in until mid-June, and I'd like to submit on June 1 if at all possible.
I thought it specifically asked if you have applied to med school before or not. I know it asks you if you have matriculated or attended a school in the past...I thought I remember seeing if they asked about simply applying before from last year when I filled this stuff out. Maybe I saw that question on secondaries, not on AMCAS?

For those who attended UCI, is Bio 199 (research) considered lecture or lab?
Are ap courses considered p/no pass? What do we put under grade and course type? Thanks

Wait, so we can add/delete schools after we turn in our primary and it's all verified?
I heard you could also add letters throughout the cycle after everything has been turned in?

hi guys, for year classification when entering course work... if i entered with enough ap/jc units to be classified as a sophmore do i just begin classifying my 1st quarter at undergrad as sophmore? It goes by units right not year in school... Thanks
sorry i think i made it a little confusing...
i put my ap classes and high school jc classes as freshman,
But as far as my 1st quarter at undergrad courses go do I begin with sophmore? Thus making only my AP and high school jc classes "freshman" status. Thanks a lot!
But you can't change status in the middle of a semester/quarter/whatever. So your entire first term would be classified as Freshman, regardless of what your actual status was.
I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. I am taking an online Ecology course in the Fall at a different university to substitute for the Ecology course at my university (long story why I'm doing this). I know this transfer credit will not count toward my GPA at my university, but will it be counted in my AMCAS GPA? I was kind of looking forward to not caring about my grade in this class, but now I realized they will probably calculate this course into my GPA 🙁

im sure this has been asked 2983472938432 times, but with work/activities, i know you guys are all saying to discuss the activities just in regular format or w/ bullets based on what you feel comfortable with.
-is it ok to mix them? so could one of my activities have bullets and the other be in a standard format? i like the bullets but there are a couple that sound much better w/o them
-really, i dont know what to use. :| i know both are acceptable, but im stuck.
