some of us are still waiting to get our post-interview decision, so i doubt that the WL is ranked yet.

I just got a ranking email the other day, so it at least looks like the high list is ranked.

Yeah, it was alluded in an email exchange I had last weekend that the rankings were nearly complete and would be available shortly. Was he able to provide you with a numerical rank? Not necessarily being super nosey and asking what your rank was, but just whether the actual numbers are available yet?

I’m wondering what the curriculum looks like for the average 1st year. For example, what time are classes, how many times a week do you meet outside of class, and on what days? Thanks!

Also, I am going to look at apartments this weekend. It looks like most M1s live in Forest and there is a lot of availability. I am not crazy about taking a room where I might not know my roommates ahead of time. I got stuck with some very difficult roommates this year and don't want to repeat it. Anyone looking for a friendly and academically serious roommate that also like friends and having a good time. (Maybe this is not the place to post this. If it isn't can you suggest a place? Thanks)

I too would love to see what a week in the life of an MS1 is like.

No numerical rank for me. He said I should hear back before Friday but did not 👎thumbdown👎

bomgd3, I saw from another post of yours that you got accepted to uconn, congratulations! Did you ever find out your numerical rank or how far along the waitlist is? Unless someone points out otherwise, I think you are the first movement on the UConn waitlist. Here's hoping that it keeps on going.

heyyy! i was also interviewed in march and haven't heard...i got through to ms. fox several weeks ago and she said there was a glitch with the system and many candidates who had interviewed in march hadn't heard yet....but every time since that i've tried to call back, i've had no luck....i mean i am not expecting anything but it would be nice to let it go with finality lol =] good luck to you!

Does anyone have any information about the numerical alternate list rankings at this time, either anecdotal or confirmed? Any insights or information that might be available on this would be most appreciated!

I know some people haven't heard back post-interview, but anyone else on the high list hear anything?? It seems like other schools have been good about notifying people/moving the waitlists, so what is going on with UConn??? Best of luck to everyone 🙂

I got in on Tuesday and will definitely be attending. Good luck to everyone!!!

Congratulations bomgd3! 🙂 That's awesome! Hope the waitlist keeps moving!

i just got off the phone with ms. fox....she said the committee is meeting tomorrow to discuss people who had interviewed in march and that if i don't hear anything by friday, i can call back...i asked her how the decision would come (by email or by phone), and she said if anything, probably both but she is not sure 🙂...hope this helps!

Got off the phone w/ Dr. Zeff about 2 hours ago, just got accepted! Waitlist is moving people!

That's awesome magnetoscope!! Congratulations 🙂. Were you ever told what your rank was on the waitlist? I don't mean to be intrusive, just curious as to where there are approximately in the list!

Yes, congrats!!!

And further, did he call you to offer acceptance, or did you just happen to call his extension for a status check, at which point he inidicated your acceptance? Wasn't sure from your post.

Trying to get a sense of whether it is best to just start calling directly for status feedback at this point, although I've never had any luck getting through by phone to-date. I've mostly been communicating via email, not that that has yielded any useful information. I haven't been able to get any ranking information as of yet despite emails.

Good luck to all fellow alternate-listers!!!

I've only had luck with phone calls a hand-full of times, but I think e-mail is the most reliable method. I had sent an e-mail to both sanford & zeff inquiring about my waitlist-position and they both responded that in 'a given year' it was typical for my position to get taken off the waitlist. No real say about a specific ranking though.

Zeff called me directly to let me know that I've been accepted, I didn't have to call for a status check or anything.

can someone post the email for dr. zeff plz? thnx

I just heard of another who just gone in (not an SDNer) but will not be taking the position. Good luck all!

(Anyone just newly accepted and needs housing I know of a room that is available in another first years apartment. They are looking to fill it with another first year. private email me if interested)

so i have my interview friday...exceptionally late. what's the opinion?

For what? this year??

yeah this year. i applied on the deadline which was a huge mistake but was offered an interview. don't know if it is out of courtesy or anything but i'm prepping for it all day today.

Wow that's crazy! is this normal? Best of luck on Friday!

i just this response from lynda regarding my app, since i have not yet heard back from the school since my interview in mid march:

The admissions committee will be meeting June 15th and hopefully they will get to everyone. Please e-mail back the end of next week, if you do not hear from Dr. Zeff

I have been emailing Dr. Sanford for several weeks now regarding this issue, and every time he tells me that I will hear back within a week. My patience is wearing thin. i find it absurd that the school can make offers of acceptances to students on the waitlist while there are many students who have not heard anything yet.

Does the Class of 2014 have a facebook group yet? I can't seem to find it (nor can I seem to find where any of my groups went...facebook changes too fast)

Have the people who withdrew before May 15th gotten their deposits back yet? When is that supposed to happen?

hey waitlisters- apparently they are moving really slow through the high alternate list this year... Here's to hoping it picks up/keeps moving!

Yikes, looks like the whole class is living in the Forest. So who wants to join me in the Hartford West End? 😀😀😀

Best of luck to all of you guys still on the waitlist! It's really frustrating that they move soooo slowly.

"your application has been placed on the middle alternate list. At this time, we are still working from the top alternate category, and do not expect to reach the middle alternate list. If that situation changes I will get back to you at a later date.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this application cycle."

game over... took these clowns 3.5 months to give me some closure... i really hope the administration doesnt treat their students like they do their applicants.

I feel like this is disorganization is a result of the transition from Dr. Sanford to Dr. Zeff as the dean of admissions mid-cycle. Regardless of the cause, they should really have been on the ball about getting back to people, etc. Ugh.

hey eey0re- who did you receive that email from?

You're not the only one who chose not to move into the Forest. I'm in the West End of Hartford too. Apparently there are a lot of med students in the area, just not first year students. My leasing agent claimed there were a bunch of students calling about the apartment I ended up moving into.

i received that email from dr. zeff... i had actually gotten a hold of him over the phone late last week and he said he would send me an email about my status by this past monday, but i just got it this morning.

If anyone is thinking about moving somewhere in Hartford rather than the Forest, avoid renting from PMC property group at ALL costs. I made the mistake of moving into one of their apartments a month ago and now I'm having to get a lawyer because they promised my girlfriend and I two parking spots and now are giving us only one. They expect us to park on unsafe side streets or go pay for parking in a lot downtown ($120+/month). I just hope this gets straightened out before we start because I might have to move again...

I can completely understand the delay from the transition, but i thought it was complete bull**** that the adcom had time to meet and offer acceptances to people on the waitlist while they delayed meeting to discuss applicants whose apps had yet to be looked at... basically, i feel like they completely screwed over my chances to get accepted because by the time they finally looked at my app, all the spots had already been filled

I was emailed by Dr. Sanford in May and informed that I was on the "high alternate list." I was also advised to check in with him on May 15. I wrote him an email as instructed and was told that the committee was finalizing the list and that I would hear soon. I waited a month and wrote again and have not received a reply to my second letter. Is anyone else in the same situation or have others been either accepted or advised of their numerical position on the waiting list? I have not written to Dr. Zeff, since no one in the admissions office has notified me that he has taken over Dr. Sanford's role (I have only read this on SDN).

i was told that dr. sanford would stop responding to emails since he is no longer with the school. i suggest you email dr zeff at [email protected], but even then dont expect a speedy response. they dont seem to care about returning emails and phone calls / voicemails

I second what eey0re said. Definitely E-mail Dr. Zeff. I E-mailed him back in June about my waitlist position, and I actually got a response later that day. It's a bit awkward because Dr. Sanford is gone, but Dr. Zeff has not fully taken over I guess or something weird like that. The last time I wrote Dr. Sanford, I got an automated response that said "Copied to File." Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I've heard that there are a decent number of upper class students in the West End--just haven't met any yet. I actually just moved in this week (Farmington Ave 600's, about a block from Tisane). I'm renting a studio from Interstate Realty--they seem pretty cool and the price was significantly cheaper than anywhere in Farmington or West Hartford.

Eeyore, sorry to hear about what happened! I was also frustrated by the lack of communication and timeliness from the administration. Have you reapplied? I applied late (completed secondary in October) and I feel that was a major reason why the process took so long. Some of my friends applied in early June and had decisions from UConn in the fall.

thankfully i wont have to reapply this year... got accepted to texas tech at the end of may.

as for my apps, i had submitted my primary app in june, finished my secondaries by august, and was invited in august to interview at uconn in january (which made very little sense to invite me 5 months in advance), and then they waited till mid january to officially schedule my interview for february. so i scheduled my interview for end of february, but then that got canceled because of the crazy winter weather, so i rescheduled for middle of march. so as u can see, my uconn experience has sucked.

I had the same experience. I submitted my primary mid-June, finished my secondary by beginning of August and was invited for a January interview at the end of August. I ended up interviewing at the end of January and was also put on middle alternate list 🙁. Glad to hear you got another acceptance eey0re! I am basically in the same position as you, and I'm sure there are others. Waiting85- Have you heard anything regarding your waitlist position???

I have heard nothing yet. I guess UConn is getting a high yield this year. Sadly, that doesn't help any of us who are waiting to get in. I have no idea where I am ranked, but was told it was at the "top." Very frustrating. If I am lucky enough to get in, I have a feeling that finding a decent place to live will be difficult at such a late date. BTW, I was interviewed in October.
