nah..they just have to notify them by 10/1 or 10/15 i forget which...theres no problem with finding out early.

No, AAMC doesn't allow schools to send out decisions to regular decision applicants until AFTER October 15th. They must notify early decision applicants by October 1st, but those who heard back are not early decision applicants.

I was EDP and accepted. They had to notify me before October 1st.

1) I'm not a guy.

2) Two years ago, I interviewed with the EDP applicants. I was not one, and there were only like 3 in the group who were EDP applicants. Someone in my group who I'm 99% sure was not an EDP applicant was notified before Oct 15th of his acceptance. Of course, this was two years ago, so the details are a little fuzzy. I really don't care one way or the other.

3) I stand corrected. I received a PM from someone who was not an EDP applicant who had interviewed. I thought (s)he had posted with an acceptance. I looked back and found I was mistaken. My bad.

Congrats again to those of you with an acceptance. I hope you like the school.

Alsoooo, has anyone received an invitation recently? I called in and they had a date for me but shelly streeter wasn't there so she didn't know why I hadn't received it...I'm a bit worried...I hope they didn't change their mind on me. The first lady I called said Nov 11th, and then she told me to hold on and then sent me to another lady who told me oct 28th...I dunno, what do yal think?

It was really laid back and not like an interview. I just had to tell about myself and express myself as a person in terms of why I want to be a MD. Just show your passion and make yourself more than numbers. Most of the questions were just follow ups to my application that would only pertain to me. Although, I was asked by each interviewer what would happen if I did not get in. What would I do? I did not have any ethical questions or healthcare questions. I was a little shocked.

I would talk to Shelley and get the info from her. Just send her an email.

Overall, it was a great experience and I cant wait to get started!!
 
This interview was nice and relaxing...only 2 30 minute interviews made for a short day, unlike some schools that keep you there from like 8 to 5. This was the agenda:

12:00 -lunch with students (M1-4)
-go to auditorium, welcome and QandA with adcom chairs
1:40 -escorted to first interview, 2:15 then immediately to 2nd (both 30 minutes)
2:45-3? cookie time (meet and greet ADCom)
3ish-quick campus tour with an M2

We were out at 4.

Everybody was really friendly, I got asked mostly about myself and my grades. I talked with my guys a little bit about health care reform. They both made a point to ask me what I wanted them to tell the ADCom about me. Some of the other applicants said they got asked medical ethics questions, I did not. My 2 guys were very transparent, open, and friendly about the whole process. Good luck everybody!
 
My app is in and verified and my Secondary and letters received. I received a letter and receipt in the mail form USC stating all was received but still no call or email to schedule an interview. :scared::xf: Anyone else in the same boat? Please share your positive and negatives....
 
I'm kind of bummed that my interview isn't until December. I'm a in-state student, so that doesn't make any sense to me.
 
Yeah it all depends on when you were complete. Also, MDBEN- you won't receive a phone call about an interview. Instead, Shelley Streeter will email you about it. I'm sure they are sorting through lots of applications now so it might take a little while for you to hear something. I was complete earlier and i think it took them 4 weeks (i think?) to contact me.

Just relax and wait..

Just received an interview invitation for December. They are filling up fast! I would email Shelley and find out your status. She is really nice and helpful...so no worries! Good luck. 🙂
 
I thought they didn't pre-screen, but I'm thinking they must? My primaries have been in for many weeks and all of my other secondaries are returned and complete. I haven't even gotten an acknowledgement from them. Is this usual?

they dont look at OOS or invite them for interviews until the end of november/december time period...dont worry

oh and they dont screen so youll get a 2ndary

humility is VERY IMPORTANT and is a good quality that a doctor should have.

Agreed - BUT exclaiming that you got an interview 1 day after submitting secondary while other people who, despite submitting their application weeks ago, are anxiously waiting to hear something is not a way of showing humility. 🙄

I was complete on 9/22 because I was waiting on my mcat scores. All of the other schools I have interviews with gave me a date in October or early November.

Since you were complete so late compared to others and USC seems to act quickly in scheduling interview dates, that is probably why you are in Dec.

PM me your stats and I might can give you some advice.

I am OOS and received an interview invite last week... They definitely started inviting OOS

Def send Shelly S. an email and explain your situation. You should've gotten that link a while ago. Send your Secondary in...wait about 3 weeks and then call back and ask about your status if you haven't gotten an interview invite. 🙂

I called and found out I had an interview invite even though I hadn't heard anything back from the school (not even a letter saying they got my secondary materials) since submitting my secondary. So yeah, do this and don't hold your breath in the meantime. 👍

I'm OOS. I have an interview at the end of the month. Got the invite in the middle of August. So they've definitely been looking at OOS applicants.

Call or e-mail them to ask what's up. I don't see why you wouldn't get a secondary.

hey everyone. after reading this thread im feeling verrrryy nervous. if you don't hear from shelley soon after you interview, does that mean you're probably going on the waitlist? I'm not ED. I interviewed 9/23. any of the 9/23 people get in yet?

hmmm, I've never had one! Maybe I should try one then...I've seen them before...I

love cheesecake...I did a summer program in NYC like 3 summers ago and I was introduced to the cheesecake factory. Why didn't I know this place existed all my life? It sucks that SC doens't have one. The closest one is in Charlotte. 🙁
 
Submitted primary/Secondary about 2 weeks ago. Just got an interview! Excitement!😀

Sooo, how far before the interview did you all get the email with all the information? Like 2 weeks back I emailed Ms. Shelly and she said I was scheduled for Oct. 21. She asked me if that was good and I confirmed it was...Well oct 21 is in like 2 weeks and I haven't received anything else. Is this typical or should I email her again? I just got my email from MUSC and I have that one oct 23. Sooo, is USC the same?

In the initial invite e-mail, there was an attachment with information about the day, hotels that offered discounts, directions, and a parking pass if you drive.
 
Yeah if you're getting an interview from USC as an OOS applicant, you have a very good shot of getting in. It's hard getting an invite from a school that leans HEAVILY towards IS applicants. You must be doing something right. 👍
