finally not on the top of a page!....

seriously though, who all is interviewing with me on Oct 21?

The SC school threads are dead 👎 (compared to other schools). I dunno what's the deal with errbody. Personally I don't have anything exciting to say until my interview on Oct 21. Whoo hooo! Maybe it'll pick up on Oct 15th when ppl come out of the woodwork with "I got accepted"...

Hey, will someone give me the lowdown on the ultrasound component in the curriculum? I looked online but I couldn't find much about why it was incorporated or how it will enhance the student's education.

Thanks yal.

I remember them talking about how it is incorporated from the start you get more efficient at using it as you move forward in school. Def sounds interesting and cant wait to play with it!! I sort of zoned out because I was thinking about what I was going to say in interview and then thinking about what I said during the interview! 😀

Jdubb, I'm just curious...I see you're about to get your pharmD degree and then go straight back to med school. Were you always interested in medicine but took the pharmacy route instead...or while you were in pharmacy school, you decided that medicine was what you really wanted... Or was this always part of your plan?

What type of physicain do you wanna be?

I really wanted the "knowledge of a pharmacist" because as a physician you obviously can diagnosis folks and usually treat patients with meds, but the "drug experts" are pharmacy. So, I wanted a MD/PharmD to bring the knowledge sets together.

I have always wanted to be a MD since I was little. I figured I would be a MD long shot so I would get the PharmD and work on the MD. Needless to say it actually all worked out!! I would not recommend doing both but it worked for me. I wanted both and will have my chance to get them. I just will be paying loans off until I die, lol!!

Going in and after researching, shadowing, volunteering, pharm rotations, etc, I am pretty sure about EM. Anes is second. After that, I would just have to experience it and see....

Good luck on the interview!!

so what is the curriculum like at USC? i cant find it on the website.

I just gotta know...what does "bump" mean? I see other people typing that but I don't get it...😕 . Help

Yeah, today is the day...come on folks, don't be scared to come out of nowhere and blast your news. 😀

'Bring Up My Post' or something of that nature.

I don't interview for another two weeks, so no news for me.

I interviewed on the 30th, but no news. Don't really know what to make of it; I was under the impression they decided that day...

Today is the first day schools can tell regular apps they are accepted or not. They probably have already decided the day you interviewed.

I know they did for me. It was Wed I interviewed and Monday of the next week I got the call!! But, I was ED. USC does not usually waste time and makes decisions rather quickly.

I just figured they were sitting on a stack....

I'm pretty sure they are sitting on a stack, but I heard that Shelley is out of the office for the weekend, so figure no one's calling for now.
Guess time to just sit back and relax till next week. Enjoy a couple drinks.

Might as well! Tomorrow's gonna come anyway!!

Good lucK!!! They called me on Monday so they might just tell on Mondays?

Hey,

For those who've had interviews, would you PLEASE fill out an interview feedback thingy? THANKS!!! 😀

I called the office yesterday and was told that they are a little behind on calls but that we should hear from Shelley "very soon." I intevirwed a month ago. Good luck everyone!

Just curious if any of you applicants went through the new post-bac program they have USC?

The interviews were so laid back--don't stress about them at all. I honestly didn't even get asked any of the questions I prepared or studied (not even why I wanted to be a doctor!) I was asked a lot about my family and just who I am in general. "Cookie time" was hectic and no one was really sure what they should have been doing but otherwise it was a very positive, relaxed experience and everyone was REALLY nice and caring.

got an acceptance email today!!!!! complete 7/9, interviewed 9/23

I received an acceptance email about a half hour ago! Good luck to everyone else.

congrats to all these acceptances...hopefully i will be amongst you all on Monday.

Who else is heading down to Columbia TOMORROW!!!!????

oh yea, and whos doin MUSC friday?

Congrats to all who got accepted so far! I also interviewed 9/30, but haven't heard anything. Bad sign, I suppose.

Invited to interview on 11/11.

My AMCAS was a little bit behind schedule for my MCAT prep course to wrap up.

Idk how strong my application is in regards to other people, but I'm taking a confidence boost in the fact that it's an early interview.

Can't wait until I go, y'all are making it sounds like it was a breeze.

yeah, the interviews are really laid back and it does seem more like a family atmosphere. They dont attack you and mainly want to get to know you as a person.

Waitlisted today...by snail mail dated 10/19. I interviewed on September 23rd, OOS with close ties. Good luck everybody!

just got back from my interview today. really enjoyed meeting my fellow interviewees, yall were pretty nice.

Good luck to all future interviewees! I got put into the "continue to review" pile post-interview via snail mail, so we'll see what happens. Interviewed 9/30.

How did you know you were waitlisted? Here's the letter I got. It doesn't use the word waitlisted, but I'm guessing that's what happened to me. 🙁 (Interviewed 9/30, letter postmarked Oct. 19th, OOS, but undergraduate in South Carolina)

I am writing to inform you of the current status of your application to the August 2010 entering class at the School of Medicine. Members of the Admissions Committee enjoyed the opportunity to meet you in person when you were on the campus for interviews. Committee members have completed their initial assessment of your application and they have assigned your application an overall committee score. Based on your committee score we are not able to make you an offer of admission at this time; however your applicatoin will remain under active consideration by Admissions Committee members.

The interview process will continue on a weekly basis through March 2010. More specific information about your application will be available after the interview process is complete.

Thank you for your continuing assistance and cooperation.
Sincerely,

Joshua T. Thornhill IV, M.D.
Associate Dean for Medical Education and Academic Affairs

"remain under consideration" means waitlist

They only offer acceptances to those students that would have been in the top 50% of the previous year's class in the beginning until they get a feel for the upcoming class baed on whatever their scoring system may be exactly.

So, it is waitlisted in a "nicer" way because they go over previous apps as they get a better picture of what the new class will look like.

Hi. I am oos. From NC, I don't know if they care about that though. I applied two months ago. Do they send a complete email? or do I have to call and check? Also, they start reviewing oos in Nov/Dec right?
