2009 western university..anyone yet?

I got a letter in the mail saying that my application is on hold. They said that I will be contacted immediately if they want me for an interview..

did anyone who were placed on hold eventually get an interview last year?

When is the last interview...I just want to know when I should stop waiting to hear back from them. Thanks!

How long ago did you get a "ready for evaluation" email?

According to the website, and according to someone that answered the question I had previously about interview dates, the next ones are:

February 21, 2009
March 14, 2009

And yes, I have been staying up late til the cock crows to hear from them also. :xf:
 
Got a letter today...HOLD STATUS

guess i have to wait till end of march beginning of april to see what my future will hold :xf:

Has anyone received a denial yet? or are they placing everyone on hold?
 
i think they put everyone hold. bc i called today and asked that everyone who didn't get an acceptance letter, are they put on hold? and she said yes. so i guess everyone waits until end of march! 🙁
 
I think,...

A hold before being interviewed is different from a hold after the interview.

A hold after being interviewed means that you might be accepted or waitlisted...so those who arent accepted are placed on hold.

A hold before the interview means that they will consider granting you an interview if western decides to add another interview date...which is unlikely.

I'm not sure about your definition of being on hold b4 the interview... I think what it means is that they are going to hold your application and look at it later... maybe. I received a hold letter from another school before and they said something like "sorry blahblahblah we have too many applications so we have to put you on hold.." then a few weeks later i got a rejection letter.

So, like some people on the forum say, hearing nothing is better than a rejection letter! I haven't received a hold letter yet, so I'm still being hopeful =)
 
all final decisions (whether you are denied without interview) are given in april....so even if they put your application on the side and dont want to give you an interview/acceptance or whatever, they wont tell you until after ALL interviews are done.
 
Just got a letter saying my application was put on hold without an interview. I guess that means pretty much a rejection. 🙁 Looks like my chances of getting into pharmacy school is getting dimmer and dimmer this application cycle.

I know a person who had received a rejection letter without an interview about a couple of weeks or so ago. I also first thought that they send out all rejection letters at the end of the application cycle. 😕
 
I too know someone who received a rejection a while back, but that was for not meeting requirements. I think if you meet all requirements etc, and they decide they don't want to accept you then you will receive the denial in the end of the cycle.
 
I'm having trouble logging into my mail.westernu.edu account. You need to accept the offer before accessing it? The letter made it sound like you can access it beforehand.

No, you can get rejected before all interviews are over - even if you met all requirements. How do I know? Because it happened to me... and other people too. Lets just say some schools are quick to reject you and I bet all they looked at was your gpa... even though they say the minimum gpa is 2.5 or whatever, after u send in your money and work hard on the supplemental, some schools will still reject u just because their average gpa is a 3.8 and u just happened to be around 3.0.

I hope someone can help me. Two days ago my computer crashed and I lost everything. I was granted an interview for Feb. 21st. I lost the letter they send you with all the info. on it. Can someone tell me what the address is to the school and where we are suppose to meet and such. The interview from what I remember was at 7:30am right? We need to bring photo ID and I could not remember what else. Thanks for the help..

I thought the letter was an email. If your computer crashed, you only lose data on your computer, not your email. Just to answer your question, there are 2 groups, one at 7:30am and the other at 9:30am. So if I were you, I would call them to find out which one is yours. You need an ID. They will check your ID.

i received my interview invite this afternoon for feb 21! one week!!! i was ecstatic =p ive been waiting patiently!!! hehe and something good happened xD...btw, if ppl want to know when i submitted my app, it was end of july. i sent in my fall grades and updated everything mid january. for those that have not received anything yet, be patient!!! i wish the best of luck to you all, future pharmacist! is anyone driving there? i plan on driving down from sacramento.

The interview from what I remember was at 7:30am right? Yes, IT WAS RIGHT FOR LAST YEAR. This year, at the Dec 6 interview, they divided interviewees into 3 groups and we were requested to show up at different time.
 
I got an interview for next saturday also but I chose the 9:30 am one. I heard they only had one start time last year. Oh well, I get to sleep in a little bit. The campus is near this "main street" type area. I live pretty close, went there to drop off my supp app. hope to see some of you there and goodluck!

Isn't Western a little...random with when they send out interview invites too? I heard a few people heard 1, 3, 4 days before the date!

Yeah, they called to invite me 4 days before the Jan 24th interview.

I have just called the office and they said, they are pretty much done calling people for Feb. interview, unless if a spot opens up then they will call more people...lets cross our fingers for March...🙁:xf:
 
Just in case some people were still struggling to get into the Western email accounts:

I called the help desk and they said the instructions on the letter was lacking something. After the formula for the password, you have to add an exclamation point at the end. So, "C11b12S1987!" When I finally opened it my inbox was jam packed with two pages of unopened emails! 😱

i am not sure about the 2 hour parking. that may not be part of western university's designated parking zone.

They said that the average Sci GPA is 3.2 and overall GPA is 3.3 for last year though...I got that info from today's interview.
 
In my opinion, the interview went well for me. I was a part of Group A with interviews at 8:45. The originally planned interview was due for 20 minutes of interviewing and 10 minutes of questions, well mine went well over 30 minutes, and I was actually late for my essay portion. I talked to a Dr. Nguyen, really nice professor.

The P1/P2 students were really helpful in answering questions, and making everyone feel at ease, overall, I like the school, environment, and the experience.
