Hi,
I am pretty embarrassed about my cgpa..it is low...so for those out there with low gpa...don't count WesternU out. I do have a high science GPA though. I am a clerk at CVS, volunteer at two local hospitals...over 200+ hours. BS in Business Admin at UCR. Good Luck:xf:!!!

When did you submit your supplemental app? I haven't received anything from them, except for a confirmation and interprofessional email. As for right now (before I get that hold letter 😀), I'm shooting for the later interview dates.
 
ya...definitely call them. They are good about answering their phones...unless they are doing interview stuff. They can also give you options to schools in your area. Do you go to a quarter or semester school? Do you have any quarter schools around you? Also, mention to them that you can have it done before august.

Does anyone know the number to their admissions office to ask for Vanessa? All I could find on their website is the numbers to the counselors. I haven't heard anything from Western since getting the email that my file was going under review. Congrats to all those who got interviews!

I submitted pretty close to the deadline because I had to get separate LOR's for this school.

Ok, I should just give up on CA schools. 👎

I know how you feel about the CA schools. I screwed up and sent UCSF app to the wrong address. I worked so hard on the application and thought I might have had a chance. grr.....UCSD denied me right off the bat. Western told me I have to take english 1 and 2 over again because my school made me take it pass/no pass. So here I am taking eng. 1 and 2 for a CHANCE to get an interview invite from this school. I swear it better pay off! and I have even heard anything from touro. i love CA and want to stay here, but this is really frustrating. 😡

I was just reflecting back on how screwed I would have been if I had my heart set on CA schools and had only applied in-state. Oh well, maybe I can drop my biochemistry class now since Western asks for 2 biochemistry classes before matriculation.

For CA, it's time for a divorce. LOL
 
So I got a letter in the mail yesterday from Western stating I'm on hold for an interview. At least I know I'm rejected this early. No more hopes for CA.
 
actaully, i beelive you can take a biochem course (from a semester school) and a molecular biology class...

thats what I did. I took Biochem at a semester school (5 units) and i also took molecular biology.

call an ask them...or go on the website where you can look at course equivalencies..and you can search differnt schools (community colleges, 4 yr universities..)

where in CA do you live?

I guess they've looked at all applications and probably made their decisions already. I'm in school right now, so I can't check my mail until late tonight. I've applied to 5 CA schools. 1 down, and 4 more to go!

I've already taken biochemistry & molecular biology (together). I looked up the course equivalencies and that course counts towards molecular biology so I'm required to take biochemistry. I just think it's pointless to take this course if I've already received my glorified rejection letter since it was only for CA schools.

If I call them to ask, they'll probably think .. "Man, can't this guy take a hint?" LOL
 
i received a call yesterday for an interview this saturday! i'm a little freaked over the short notice but i'm going to try my best!...good luck to everyone who will be there!

Don't lose hope just yet! Who knows, they might decide to call you for an interview later on, although being on hold is a dreadful process. I'm currently on hold before interview for 4 schools and I know how that feels. I just got home from SD, and I found no letter from Western today. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow and Saturday that I won't get that hold letter, since Western is my top choice.

I'm speculating that they have decided the people that they want to interview for this application cycle already. And probably they rank the people by the order based on the date the application was received and the points given by the adcom (based on GPA/extracurricular), so they just call people in that order until all interview spots are filled up for each date. If they don't have enough people to interview, then maybe they'll start calling from the hold list.

Again, congrats to you on your acceptance to Hawaii! You should be proud of your accomplishment. 🙂 I know, we really want to stay here in Cali so much!
 
zerocombine: i have a 3.5, no pcat, and 2yrs at cvs and a few months with tech license.

will be driving there early in the morning from la 😀
 
I'm feeling pretty frustrated right and honestly kind of lost. Western (and Howard U. which I really don't care about) are the only schools that won't accept my english courses from UC Santa Cruz. I had to last minute (and concurrently) enroll in english 1 and 2 at my local CC. I went to my first class today, and this is supposed to be the more advanced class. I wanted to rip my hair out. This class is so below where I am at I cannot even believe it. I'm not trying to say look at me, I am too smart for this! but seriously!!!!! I am 26 years old. I have a bachelors degree, took two year post bac and taught college level physiology laboratories!!! What more does western want??? I am seriously considering withdrawing my application from this school. What should I do? I am too stubborn to give up, but I can't stand this! Any advice will help. Angry rant over.
 
i think you should stick with it. i am three years out of getting my BS in Business Admin and had to also start from the ground up. Take the classes. Is Western one of your top choices? Have you received any other invites for interviews or acceptances?

Stick through it...i understand that it may be frustrating...i had to commute 2 hours in traffice (to school...2 hrs..from school 2.5 hours) to take 1 stupid biochem class to meet the requirements for western...

trust me, it is definitely worth it, you also want to keep your options open..no matter what you have to do..

i am a reapplicant...with an interview..and i will tell ya it was definitely worth it..

I'll be at the interview on saturday. Got called on tuesday for the invite and was a little flustered too at first cuz i had work scheduled that day. But, I was able to move my schedule around. Driving from Long Beach at 5:45 AM sounds like fun to me. Not really looking forward to the tour though, cuz I got one already a few months back. Good luck to everyone and see you all on Saturday.

thanks for the advice. I would really love to stay in CA! I have 6 interviews so far. I was accepted at two of those and put down a deposit at hawaii. I am having a hard time getting excited about hawaii because I interviewed in vegas and never got to see it. I really do hope I get an interview at western. I worked really hard on that app and I answered all questions very well. I guess I will just wait it out. I needed to hear some words of encouragement. Thanks! 🙂

Whatever they want, I suggest take it. If WesternU is your top choice, I don't see why not?!
As for the class being too easy, so what? Don't you like being cruising along and enjoy your A? Although I should say you'll never learn enough especially English and writing. My advice is to be humble 😛
IMO, you should consider it's another way to improve your communication skills (in writing) although you probably think you don't need it.
Anyway, congrat those who invited to the interview. See you there cuz I'm invited as well :luck:

Can anybody confirm this?
I sent in my application in October. I received a "supplemental/application complete" letter a few months back. But I haven't received a hold letter. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad.

I haven't called them, so that was just my guess. I'll just have to wait and see. I just checked my mail today, and I didn't receive a letter. Then again, don't they send out rejection letters at the end of the application cycle? So based on the statement that I made yesterday, it can be good or bad.

By the way, what's the parking like? Structure? Meters?

I didn't remember seeing a parking structure when I was there for the Open House. I know I had the parking for free because of the event.
 
there is a Health Fair tomorrow from 10am to 2pm. Good thing is we have to be there by 7:30am so parking wouldn't be a problem.

It's a good thing cause that means they're still considering you for the next two interviews.

When i interviewed in december there were 2 groups. 1 group had to arrive at 730 and the other at 930, so you're just in the later group. don't worry!

I was trying to skim through all the pages but couldnt find all the interview dates for western. So was it just this past Dec. interview and todays interview day so far? Does western have 2 more? Does anyone know when they are? Thanks.

yeah, there have been 2 interviews (if u include today) and there will be 2 more. The dates are dec 6, jan 24, feb 21, and march 14 :]

how was everyone's interview today?
this is what I gathered from the speakers today.
they only accepted 30 from the interview in December. Around 150 students are in each interview date. They have 2 more interviews, 1 in Feb and 1 in March. So that means 600 people will interview. Out of 600, they will accept 40 more students than the class size of 120, because they anticipate some will choose another school over Western. So basically, they accept 160 people out of 600 interviewed. That's like a 25% chance of getting in if you interviewed. THe cost of attending will be about $60,000 a year. After 4 years, that's $240,000 in debt.
 
I asked this a few days ago, but never got a response, but just wanted to ask again for the people that know. Do you get an interview confirmation email after they call you?

Yeah, I got an email with all the details about the interview (date, time, etc.) a couple of hours after getting the call. You should call Vanessa if you didn't get an email.

I had to move my interview from this month to Feb. because of my PCAT. She said she would call when it got closer to the Feb. interview date. I just read some conflicting details I guess. Some people said you get an official interview email while I read that some people only got a phone call with the date and time. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks! 🙂

I think you should get an official interview email regardless. They keep it really formal, so they'll send you the letter via email upon speaking to you on the phone
 
Hmm.. I thought ~430 people will have an interview. They will accept about 160 people out of 430 people. About 120 people will be on the alternate list, and last year, they accepted about 60 people from the alternate list. That means they accepted about 220 people out of 430… it is about 50% chance of getting in if you interviewed. That's what I thought....Maybe I'm wrong..
