thx i was just wondering. they had another question about activities so i didnt know if they were specifically looking for employment for this section. i think im letting myself get caught up in all these little things that arent really a big deal


and still no love from NYCOM 🙁

I'd call NYCOM there was problems with them last year and their secondary invites. They do invite anyone to fill it out so it may be worth your while to call and ask about it. Then you can fill it out and be done w/ it.

That happens sometimes, I made sure it wouldn't this year after letting it happen last year. Good luck, it gets difficult throwing them together when they start to pile on. It gets overwhelming. You'll get it done though 👍

Yeah, I hope to knock out about 4 of them tomorrow, then I can take on another 4 on Monday. Hopefully, I'll finish the last few by Tuesday... I feel horrible, because I've had the BU app for about 2 weeks now... I'll get it done. It's just a matter of being properly caffeinated. 🙂

I wish that was the case for me. I'm still waiting on 12 secondaries and have 2 pending that I need to finish. I wrote the personal statement for one yesterday so I've just gotta revise and mail. The other I have to write about a situation that I was stressed and how i handled it... wtf is that!? Nothing even remotely comes to mind currently unless I want to talk about being a re-app and being on a waitlist right now but the school has no idea I'm a re-app because I didn't apply there last year so I'm not going to willingly give up that information.

Only applying to seven this year
so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Were there other questions or did they just ask for a "statement of purpose"? Generally I take statement of purpose to be a why do you want to pursue this program in particular. I may have written it as why PCSOM and why DO combined into one essay. Thats just me though. The only statement of purposes I had were for the SMP programs I applied to so I had to write about why the SMP will help remedy the fact I have a ****ty GPA

Dude, that sucks... That was me last year. It's painful to know that you're done with them and can't send them off, because you can't afford the fee. If you have a credit card, you should probably submit to your top 2 schools prior to your paycheck if you can. Or max it out, then pay it back with your paycheck.

Either way, good luck with the $$$.

And I'm going to need you guys to get it together with these secondaries! I know it’s hard, but if you don’t finish them then you are wasting a lot of time and money! Drink some caffeine and get to it!

Yeah, it's tough. I certainly know the feeling. I'm just glad my schedule no longer includes studying for the MCAT... Now I can focus on my apps. Although, when I was getting ready to submit BU's secondary last night it had the option to evaluate my app with my old scores or wait for my new ones and I was certainly tempted to have them evaluate it with the old ones, but then my gf talked some sense into me... Tough choice though, especially when you don't know how the exam is going to pan out...

I did finish a couple secondaries last night... I submitted GW's a couple weeks ago (before my amcas was even complete. I was shocked that I got it that early. Clearly they don't screen. haha), but theirs wasn't all that bad. I just hated having to print it out and send it in. I'm going to try to get a few more in tonight if I can...

Just keep at it, man.

Well, I'm officially all caught up on secondaries (minus sending USUHS's because I need to take a passport photo and I couldn't find one before I had to drive an hr to class). Now I've still gotta wait on the screening process from Davis, Irvine, UCLA (all 3 UCs likely not going to happen), UCF and VCU. Then gotta wait for Drexel, NYMC and USC to actually start sending their applications. Also still waiting on Touro-NV and the PCOM's. Frustrating lol

I want more secondaries!!!! I want this part to just be done already! (btw I hadn't even submitted my primaries this time last year )

I really would rather not send the crap that was sent last year from UCLA. We shall see what they say. I'd prefer to replace a dean's letter with an employer letter since I'll have been out of school for 2 years by the time I start med school

Same here. But UCD started sending out secondaries since last Monday or Tuesday. I still haven't gotten it so I don't expect much at this moment 🙁

Question 1) How long does it take after I've finished the secondaries to possibly get an interview offer? When should I be worried?

Question 2) The schools I have not heard from... are they looking at my application more intensely than just GPA and MCAT (as I think the top schools send everyone secondaries if you meet their minimum requirement), or have I already been screened out?

Yikes, it's only been 5 days. You need to be more patient.

Don't read anything extra into not having received the other secondaries yet - they are just a little slower. It's actually pretty impressive that you got 4 secondaries so quickly. All the schools vary in how quickly they send them out. I submitted June 1 and still haven't heard from one school (Touro-NV), but I'm not worried since nobody else has either.

I wouldn't start wondering until 2, maybe even 3 weeks after submission if you've read that they've sent secondaries to others. Then I'd just call them and ask about your status to make sure the email didn't go to junk mail or something.
