I know I'm a little behind, but I just submitted my first secondary 😀

I'm going to start pounding them out as soon as my midterm is over on Thursday, and hopefully catch up to you guys

Good luck 👍 Thankfully I've only got a handful of them left, of which 2 don't have essays, 1 I've already written and the others are screened and I doubt I'm gonna get. I've got a final coming up in 2 weeks so just bad news. I got a 93% on the midterm (40%) and a 96% on the two essays (10%) but there is no freaking curve! Gotta get this A! Its a retake lol

Where ya been man? 🙂

Maybe those of you who received interviews after submitting your secondary can tell us stress infected waiters how long it took you to hear back from the school for an interview. Also what schools?

PS> you who have interviews are my heros.

the thing is, most schools just started or haven't even started interviews yet, so most ppl with interviews are in the first batch. Until the second or third batch start getting sent out we won't know the average turnaround time for schools.

Had a little mix-up with my transcripts, but everything is fine now 🙂

How's it going?

Going alright man, these MD secondaries are killing me. They're all different and can't be patched together from old ones like I did for the DO schools. So yeah, just been working on them mostly. Did you take the MCAT with me on the 17th?

LECOM-E

They didn't process my payment until 7/20 even though I submitted my secondary on 7/15 or 7/16, and I got an interview invite on 07/30.

man its been a quiet week for me. other than sending out touro's, I've been constantly checking my email and mailbox with nothing. guess it gives me time to catch up money-wise....i just spent another couple hundred ordering a suit and my plane ticket 🙂

Same here. I need to catch up quickly money wise. I also need to get my ass back in the gym, I keep saying I'm going to but stress and extra work is causing me not to go and to just sleep through my gym time instead. 😡

I'm thinking the next two weeks will likely be the week when we start hearing from more schools. Scary :scared:

I still need to finish one secondary and I don't have to write any essays anymoreeeeeeee! Yay! Still haven't heard from four schools though (probably been screened out but whatever, lol, I don't expect anything from them anyway). 🙂

Today has been quiet, a little too quiet... I think it's the calm before the storm. I better get some good news today or I may just crack under this stress... :lame:

Oh and I applied to USF today (yes I know its a public school that hates non Florida residents but I had to apply on advice from an alumni physician!), the secondary was only $30! But there were 9 freaking essays! I literally wrote 5 pages worth of essays for them. Crazy questions too... One question asked me to explain each and every grade I received below a B (even B- grades!!!)... Yeah, that was a tough one. Lets see, there are over 16 Cs on my transcript from undergrad. Had to make a general statement about how I sucked as an undergrad because there was just not enough space in the box for me to explain each one. That was painful...

Don't crack..at least you have interviews! I haven't heard from a single school except for a rejection from BU..now THAT is stress.

Thats how FSU was last year when I was going to apply. I didn't bother completing it even though the secondary was free! Don't crack under the pressure, there isn't many schools doing anything yet. Give it 2 weeks and we'll all have good news to share 👍

Personally, I'm hoping for a Touro-Ca interview in the near future, if they followed last year, this week would be the first week they'd be handing out interviews

You will get an interview from Touro-CA for sure! My friend got an interview from them last year and they did ask them some tough and interesting questions, so be prepared (By the way, I think it's gonna be a group interview 😛)

Your stats are good! I will be surprised if you don't get any interviews, plus it's still early. Just be patient :]

At least you have interviews! 😀 I have nothing. Nothing, sir! 😱

I really wanted to apply here, but the OOS tuition is INSANE. The COA literally made me nauseous (kind of like CCOM).

I got back to the gym, and its really helping my stress level. Burning off all that nervous energy with cardio. 😀

We'll see about that. I hope so though. I'd love the opportunity to check out the campus and hear about their new plans for clinical rotations. Plus staying in California would be awesome 👍

Ya, its pretty ridiculous. I almost wish I still had Florida residency so I could have an outside shot at UF, UCF, FSU, etc. lol

i kno wut u mean. ive had to resort to some home work outs like p90x when i havnt had time to make it to the gym. but nothing is like pushing giant plates of metal around haha

the next couple of weeks are def gonna be interesting. i got so used to having secondaries, confirmation messages, and school info email sent almost every other day that it feels weird not to get anything.

Don't crack..at least you have interviews! I haven't heard from a single school except for a rejection from BU..now THAT is stress.

I feel ya. I have one application hold for rereview at GW, and nothing else...

Sigh... But you're stats look pretty solid, so I'm sure you'll hear something soon. It's still very early in the process.

What are these "new" plans you speak of? Are they offering rotations in CA now?

You can do it! 👍

Nope, I probably should have

😕 They've always offered rotations in CA, they were just all over the state and there weren't enough for all of the students. In the past the rotations have been very disorganized and students have complained. I heard from a current student going into her third year that there is a newly appointed member of the clinical staff at Touro and he has brought in some organization as well as connections. From what it sounds like, that aspect of their curriculum should be improving.

That's good, because the rotations are part of my hesitation towards Touro-CA.

Mine too, I am definitely waiting to see how the girl I met that was an MS3 there feels about her rotations the next time I speak to her, which likely won't be until after I interview (if I even do) so that I give her time to go through a few of them

You'll have to let us know. I'm concerned about the Dr's office type rotations. I would rather rotate in a hospital, not a pcp's office.

i got a secondary invite from touro-ny last week. does that mean i will get an interview?
also, does touro-ca send out secondaries before they send out interview invites or do they do the same thing as touro-ny? i haven't heard back from touro-ca yet and i'm getting a little worried.
my application was released just two weeks ago so is it too early to start wondering?
i submitted my eerie secondaries and for bradenton it says i have been evaluated and sent to the admissions committee for further review...does that mean i will probably get rejected? did anyone have that happen and then get an interview?
sorry if i sound like i'm ranting. thanks! =]

So far its believed that Touro-NY secondary means interview so congrats

Touro-Ca is really slow and only sends via snail mail so it should take a while.

Erie and Bradenton means you simply went to the admissions committee, it just means you are complete. Bradenton normally gets back to you in about 2 weeks, Erie has only had one interview day and is slow right now

Woah!! You are looking okay 🙂. I too just had my application released two weeks ago and am in the same boat. I have turned in many secondaries and have the same status at LE-COM. I'm sure it is just a process. Or, I am speaking out of me arse and we are both SOL.
🙂.....high five!

thanks! good luck to everyone! i hope we all get into great schools. this process is so stressful. touro-ca is so dumb for mailing the secondary invite. i wonder how many secondary/interview invites touro-ny sends out. does anyone know the percentage of their interviewees they accept?

I agree that snail mail has become quite antiquated at this point. They still do interview invites, etc. through mail as well, the whole thing seems like its probably more trouble for them than it is for us. It is pretty entertaining watching me rifle through the mail on a daily basis though trying to see if a Touro-Ca interview invite is there. At least based on location I should theoretically be one of the first to hear if I'm in the first batch of interviews along with the norcal people

Just booked the flight and hotel for LECOM interview this morning! :scared: I'm SOOOOO excited and nervous right now..

Thanks for reminding me! I gotta call my grandma, she's a manager at a marriot so I get her employee rate at the fairfield lakewood ranch

Nice! I'm going to Erie though. I just picked the cheapest hotel (Days Inn.) and it was like $49.99+Tax. So that's not too bad. Oh man, your interview is going to be in three weeks, right? My interview is at the end of September and now I'm already SUPER SUPER scared 😱 Haha, I will TRY not to act like a dork at my interview, lol 🙄

Nice! I can't wait until I can start doing that too. 🙂

It's definitely not something fun to look forward to ("booking flight & hotel"). The plane ticket was still $298 two days ago. I booked it last night and it became $340 😱 (haha, I should have booked it two days ago but I got lazy 🙁). I'm not a VERY organized person so I had a hard time trying to fit everything into the schedule, but my dad helped me a little bit so that helps.😀 Dbban said we should probably get more interview invites by next week, so we will see what happens. Good luck!

Yep, interview is actually 3 weeks from today. I'm not as scared as last year, I've been there once before so I know what to expect. I'm flying in a day early so I've got to have 2 nights in the hotel but at least I get it at $35 a night 😎 I've got AZCOM in late September and I'm a bit more nervous about that one. Different interview format, near the top of my list, etc. We'll see how it goes :xf:

I hear ya on the plane tickets, my one way went from 120 to 165 while I waited to get paid 😡 Oh well though. The hotel will be cheap, but rental car is going to cost me 90 bucks for 2 days. I'm flying into Orlando so i've definitely gotta rent a car. Oh well though!

Don't quote me on those interview invites coming next week! lol I don't want people angry at me for them not coming. I was just saying most schools last year started handing out interviews the 2nd week of August so we should have something to look forward to

Haha. Yeah, paying for the flights and hotel is no fun, especially if you know you could have picked one of them up for less a few days ago. But I guess that's the price we pay for doing business. 😉

Yeah, it's still very early in the season and none of the schools I initially applied to have offered interviews yet (added LECOM-BR after the first round of invites), so I'm sure there is still plenty of time for interviews for all of us. 🙂

not sure how much truth there is to it, but apparently its cheaper to book on Wednesdays which would be two days ago. at least u bookin early. i kept putting it off and now my flight+hotel+car is $560+. but im also flying 2 days before the interview so i have that one day to get myself set.

niiiiice so all us SDN people can just say we know DbDan! 😀

ladies, i'm going shoe shopping tomorrow and i was wondering what kind of shoes you wear to interviews. what's the normal heel height that people wear? 1 or 2 inches?

I would suggest worrying about comfort more than heel height. That said, I have a couple different pair of pumps that are all about 2 inches. These are my favorite and are super comfortable, but I'm not sure what your budget is. http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=312748&cm_mmc=Google_Feed-_-2-_-22-_-{keyword}&kw={keyword}

I am also pretty short so I need the height.

Yikes, I didn't even think about this until now. I was preoccupied with getting a suit. I still can't even decide on a color for that. Black is probably safest, but everyone will be wearing black so maybe something else??

I'll probably go with 2 inches. I don't know why - maybe I feel a little bit more "powerful" in higher heels. I don't know if that's quite the right word, but 1 inch heels make me feel frumpy when I'm dressed up. Otherwise I'm a flip flop girl.
