what do you mean coat?? its shorts weather here right now! 😀 jk best of luck to everyone interviewing this week

Best of luck to all with interviews...I for one am going to do nothing but work on my MCAT, hope to see you all next year!!

First weekend of interviews is over! Hope it went well for those who had one. It was actually a little bit enjoyable for me...everyone was incredibly friendly! Now on to the agonizing wait for the next month until we hear the decisions. Good luck to everyone who has an interview coming up!

Hey everyone, I am interviewing on Jan. 4th. I am a South Dakota resident but former ND resident. Anyone who already interviewed have any advice? I already interviewed at USD so I would assume a pretty similar process being that the two schools have similar missions. Any info would be great! Thanks!

my interview was just about getting to know me better and all my activities. So, know your application and think about what you gained from each experience. I was surprised they didn't ask any ethics question or situation questions. Good luck!

Just going to be blunt about it, interview for me anyways was an awesome, conversational time. We went over the interview time by about 15ish minutes but the entire time it was like we were chatting. If you want more details, PM me. Otherwise go into this interview relaxed and you'll do great!

Anyone know the exact date we are going to find out about acceptances and whatnot? I only recall them saying mid-January, but in previous years, I know there was a specific date.

Last year the letters went out on Friday the 13th. I would assume they'll go out near the same date this year (Friday the 11th?) and then it's just a matter of how long it takes the letter to get to your house. Speculation, of course, but I have not seen any dates listed. Either way, within the next two weeks or so a good portion of the accepted should know. It's an exciting time! Good luck :luck:

"The list" was decided on/made Thursday evening. Letters just need to be written and then signed by the dean. So a post mark date of late this week or sometime next week should be a reasonable expectation.

How were the decisions made Thursday night when there were interviews on Friday?

Just trust me... not ALL of the interviews are done, but the initial list has been made and letters are being written...

Edit: WICHE and INMED interviews are done later and not included in the initial batch of acceptances and wait list.

Does anybody out there know if UND accepts via phone or do they send both acceptances and rejections by mail?

Still in the stone age a bit, everything is by mail.

If all is on time, letters should be going out tomorrow for those already accepted. I'll keep an eye out 😉

I've been stalking the poor postal worker on a daily basis. I live in Montana. No news yet.

This waiting for snail mail is really bringing out the neurotic in me. Nothing yet, but hoping to see something in the mail today. I live in Bismarck, ND, so didn't think it would take too long to arrive.

The dean still has to sign the letters. They will be signed tomorrow and sent this week.

Thanks, I was trying to find out for people since I haven't seen any go out yet... someone is clearly much more in the know than me. :naughty:

And since everyone has now interviewed, make sure you visit the UND Interview Feedback page and fill out the survey with your experience to help out those that use SDN in the future. It's pretty lacking and outdated at this point.

Good luck, everyone!

Are these all the letters, or just the nodak residents'?

I think it's everyone that has interviewed. ( I don't know about the inmed ppl. Since someone said before that they don't interview till later.) I called and asked the admin. office and they told me about the letters.

It should be everyone that's interviewed with exception of INMED applicants, traditionally they interview at the end of the month, but things could be different, I don't know for sure. This is what I found out today, the letters haven't been signed yet due to the Dean being busy speaking to the legislature regarding proposed funding from the governor for expansion of the med school. If he headed back to Grand Forks last night the letters should be signed and out by the end of the week, however if he is in Fargo instead the letters will likely be sent early next week.

Edit: As far as I know it is most likely that letters will be signed today and out this week, but the exception of this not occuring until next week was mentioned to me as well so I don't want to unintentionally get anyone's hopes up.

Edit again: I just double checked and its looking like signed today and out sometime this week is most likely.

Update - sounds like the Dean was GF signing letters today so hopefully there will be a postmark date sometime this week, or early next week.

The letters were put in the mail this morning so I would think they'll be arriving by Saturday or Tuesday (beings Monday is a Federal holiday) at the earliest.

Best of luck to those awaiting their decision! 🙂

I can confirm that letters were sent out yesterday. I just called the admissions office to try and get my address changed because I won't be at my apartment for a couple weeks to get my mail. She told me that letters were sent out yesterday so it looks like I'll have to wait a while before I find out my status. Good luck to everyone!

just heard from someone who got an acceptance. they are from 10 miles from forks so they are definitely out.

Yup, they're out! Make sure to check your mail 🙂

Nothing in Fargo yet and the mail has already been delivered today.

I know they're out in GF, Fargo, and Bismarck. Doesn't mean they're out to everyone though.

There was blizard like conditions today in the fargo area. The mail people didn't reach all of their drop offs. I guess we will have to wait till Tuesday...

I live in Fargo and luckily I got my letter today. I can now stop stalking the mailman.

Yeah I think its contingent on your postal district/carrier. I have a friend in Fargo who got his letter today. All the mail we got today was post marked the 13th (sent locally too...).

Top 5 on the waitlist here, which I was pretty psyched to hear. Any idea how many spots from the WICHE states and Minnesota move to accepted in an average year? Thanks.

Last year it took 22 to fill up the 12 out of state spots. That means there's a turnover of aboutten per ccycle. Don't hold your breath, but you should be golden.

did they say this in the letter or did you have to call?

Waitlist number is at the bottom of the letter. They usually make it to the mid to upper twenties on the waitlist, though I do know that in 2004 and 2005 it went into the mid thirties. On average approximately 16-17 alternates matriculate per year. I'm just where the cut-off generally falls on the waitlist so I'm hopeful but not holding my breath. Congrats to everyone who recieved acceptance letters so far and for those yet to come!

I've heard mixed things ranging from a month for the first update, all the way to June or July (though the source regarding June/July is somewhat questionable). I would bank on one to two months for the first update.

MN resident on wait list. I'm not clear if a MN "slot" has to open up, or if WICHE (or other OS, if any) will move MN wait lister. Anyone have any insight on this?

Same boat. Based on the letter, it sounds like the WICHE and MN spots are interchangeable. Anyone know if there is a quota for WICHE kids?

WICHE and MN residents are in the same pool for a total of 11 spots. I don't know that there is a quota per se of how many they have to accept, just that they have to a guarantee at least X amount of potential spots for those applicants.
