Got email stating I am on pre-interview hold for MUCOM and that I will be re-reviewed in one month
I love how MUCOM communicates with you with every single update. Hopefully I get some love soon , I have pre-interview holds at AZCOM, UofArizona, and MUCOM now.I got the same email a couple weeks back then they sent me an invite 2-3 weeks after. So, they actually go re-review every month for what it's worth.
pcom is my "instate" school which is known to be mcat heavy. I have yet to hear back (3.4, 24)
PCOM favors PA students, but it is foremost a private school. It is also known to have the weirdest admission process under the sun.
i know 🙁 fingers crossed!PCOM favors PA students, but it is foremost a private school. It is also known to have the weirdest admission process under the sun.
Acceptance letter to PCOM today! OOS, MCAT 25 (6p/10v/9b), c3.45, s3.5, non-traditional. I also interviewed at Drexel (no word back yet), and have an interview at LMU-DCOM next week and PNWU in January (that I may cancel). So insanely excited, as it's been a long road for me thus far and it's my first acceptance!
Keep on truckin', underdogs!! You can do it!
I'm a little surprised you didn't get into LECOM.
i think LECOM-B has higher stats than erie/seton. I applied to bradenton and seton hill but only got an interview at seton hill.
Do the offer transfer seats like the VCOM's do?
By that I mean, if you got accepted to Seton Hill, and a seat opens in Bradenton, do you get first dibs on that seat?
Given that you have a good reason to switch schools, like family or finances?
you interviewed at drexel? i kinda just assumed philly md schools dont interview without a 30 mcat. good luck!!
I believe Drexel's matriculant MCAT average is either 29 or 30 (below the national average). Regardless, I was really surprised that I was offered an ii with my MCAT!
I'm still waiting to hear from my state MD.
Doesn't Dakota pretty much accept everyone who is an instate applicant?
Yeah it's kinda like Texas. Actually North Dakota is basically Texas, if Texas was cold as balls.
I should consider getting residency in ND then. 4 years of painful existence isn't too bad.
serenade, I could use an update, accepted at LMU and VCOM-CC!!
thanksWill update when get home.
Will also slightly be jelly 😉
Doesn't Dakota pretty much accept everyone who is an instate applicant?
not even close. It is highly competitive like any other allopathic program and they turn down many, many well qualified applicants.
MCAT is 25....that's why I was surprised (and very thankful) to get an ii. Non URM, not disadvantaged. What is your Mcat?
Urm?
I think by now it should be obvious that it's hard to judge chances based off someone else's stats. Who really cares....![]()
I got lost in stats last year and didn't end up getting in even though I was competitive. It's so hard to really judge (within reason). Just gives me heart break and head aches. Sometimes acceptances just don't make sense. Also, I agree this years thread has been kind of weird.
I think actual acceptances make plenty of sense...it's those they chose to extend an invite to that may not. In my case, with essentially average GPA for Drexel and in the bottom 10% for MCAT, it's what you've done in life and how well you market yourself. I'm non-trad, former realtor and high school teacher, mom of 4, and have thousands of hours in non clinical volunteering, hospital work with patient contact, and shadowing.
There's really no rhyme or reason why I was given an ii when those with great stats weren't except that someone read my personal statement and application and it intrigued them. The next adcom may have very well looked someone like me over. It really is a crapshoot with ii's sometimes.
i think drexel's avg gpa is a little higher but you sound like an awesome applicant so I think your acceptance makes sense! I cannot imagine going through this process with four children! Yea, I agree though the process of getting ii's is not always cut and dry it seems.
Looking back, yeah....my gpa is about .2 cumulative and .1 science under their average. They haven't made a decision on me yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think SDN makes us all a little neurotic and numbers driven (sometimes for good reason, sometimes not!).
Add me in!
Non-trad applicant, 3.0/3.0, MCAT 28 from Cali
Accepted: MSU-COM
Interviews: LECOM-SH, ACOM
Oh, and I got a rejection from LECOM-B. Goes to show you that this process can be a bit of a crapshoot.

Congrats! Great news for you. Are you still interviewing/waiting around? Or was MSU a top choice for you?
I'm waiting on a few schools, but I'm happy if I just go to this one in the end. Will probably withdraw from LECOM-SH interview though.
What? Just tuition? That must be tuition + living expenses... 80k for just tuition is outrageous.Hey I was wondering if you are worried about paying the 80K tuition??

Wow! That is definitely crazy....Tuition only for non-resident is $80,470 . It is crazy!

They do, I remember reading somewhere that the average OOS matriculation leaves with $200,000 in loans. Call the financial aid office to see what they can do for you.Yea..that why I'm trying to figure out if they have some scholarships or grants that can help lower the cost.

Some OOSers receive a scholarship for $25k a year, but I heard those are few and far between. So better to ask yourself if you're willing to pay $80k to go there.
Yeah I wouldn't mind paying 60K but 80K is too much..I really really love this school..I hope everything works out
Yes, I spoke with the recruiter at MSU. It's 80K OOS, and there's no getting around it. You can get state residence the next year, but still..Tuition only for non-resident is $80,470 . It is crazy!

Plus they have an in state preference that exceeds 80%. The incredible 1st year tuition may account for a heavy in state application also, but it's crazy money.
I haven't heard of MSUCOM offering thisWait are you sure that OOS students can get in state status the second year???...I wouldn't mind paying for 80k if its only one year
I was under the impression that most OOS students got scholarships that brought tuition down to IS levels... but I have no data to back that up.I haven't heard of MSUCOM offering this
