2016-2017 SUNY - Buffalo Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone know until when they interview?

I don't know exactly when they'll interview until, but prior years they interviewed until mid-April. FWIW they may extend it through the end of April since they're increasing the size of the class

They said they were still interviewing the same amount of candidates thou so I don't know if they will extend it

Waiting for a possible interview invite from Buffalo in the words of Jack Johnson:

And maybe you been through this before
But it's my first time
So please ignore
The next few lines cause they're directed at you

I can't always be waiting waiting on you
I can't always be playing playing your fool

I like this school quite a bit, but I've given up on them. I can see the merits of random review, but when the random review schedules interviews past the deadline for priority financial aid for many schools, and decisions potentially past the traffic date, the cycle is just too long.

Congrats! When were you guys complete? I've been complete since July and nothing. Literally the only SUNY to give me a cold shoulder.

I was complete since July as well. I'm OOS if that makes any difference

II just now!! Complete end of July,IS. I had given up hope for this school, but they're still giving out II's, so hang tight! For anyone wondering, I am scheduled for the beginning of April so they do interview fairly late

Got an interview too. Is it worth even going this late in the cycle? I feel like at best this is going to for a waitlist spot

They don't interview for waitlist at this school. If you got an interview invite you are interviewing for a spot in the class! Word for word what the dean of admissions said on the interview day. Totally go for it.

I was thinking the same too, but as I'm IS, I may give it a shot.

That's awesome to hear!

Yeah I'll prob go then. I fell in love with another school but a chance at instate tuition is something else lol

What time does the interview day actually end?
Usually 4 ish. Most likely will be done by 5 at the very latest. If you have to catch a flight in the early evening they are very accomodating

They review the apps in random order and save a number of seats in the class accordingly so you are in the same position as someone whose app was randomly chosen for interview in september

How long was each individual interview? 30-45 minutes and was it back to back?

It seems like April 5th is the last day for interviews (I tried rescheduling to the 12th, but they said they were done on the 5th of April).
It seems I probably won't get an interview then! Thanks for the update for last day of interviews mate!

Woah they're still interviewing? This is the first time I've hopped on this thread, I expected the cycle to be over like most other schools. I finished my undergrad at UB in 2012 but have gotten silence, probably because I moved out of state. Who knows, maybe I'll be the lucky one and get a last chance II.

Do any current students have experience writing the need-based financial aid scholarship essay? Please PM me if so! Thanks in advance

anyone know how the grading works? I know it's basically letter grades but are there like certain percentages of each class that will get high pass or honors?

Any recent interview invites? Also, have pre-interview rejections been sent out yet...? Thanks, good luck ladies n' germZ!

Is it pretty much 100% guaranteed you'll get in-state residency after the first year?

No cut-offs for how many people can get Honors/High Satisfactory.
