So I've been silently lurking on this thread for awhile watching everyone win and (not so patiently) waiting for my time. I had started to get discouraged and began looking at other options when this morning (and I'm still shaking y'all) I got accepted to one of my top choices! For any of you who are out there still grinding and waiting to hear back, I promise it's gonna come. Sending prayers and good vibes to you all!

There are quite a few. If I'm not mistaken Meharry has one as well as KCUMB, Ohio State, Oklahoma state, and Nova Southeastern.

So OTI had me thinking today about advice for future cycles. I'm not sure how we would exactly go about this but I know for me I tend to ask questions to this thread about OOS private schools only since I know those are the ones we most likely share in common. However here in FL and in Texas, CA, NY for example there are a lot of state schools to choose from that all have slight differences in terms of what they're looking for. I just want to make sure that we can at least try to provide insight to those places as well since the bulk of applicants usually end up staying IS anyway. Just want to make sure the next URM "class" is as successful as we've been

Don't know if you're familiar but there's a really great AAMC resource that allows you to view post-bacs based on select preferences. Ones that I can think off the top of my head are Wash. U in St. Louis, UPenn, and Bryn Mawr.

Yea, I couldn't even tell you what my state schools are even looking for lol. I submitted to the majority of FL schools and ended up only getting an interview with a private school.
 
I have come to a point where I think my cycle is complete now. I have 8+interviews and the last thing is wanted was a shot at a highish ranked school. Which i Just got a interview at, nothing more to ask for than to just crush my remaining interviews. .. I could not receive one more II and be completely happy .. which is a good position to be in. ... I sit back and smile reading when I was whining about not getting a II

Exactly, I've gotten interviews in FL at 4 public and that awesome private school you're talking about lol but 1-2 of them I probably wouldn't even have applied to had I known a little bit more about the school than you can find on their website.

It's like the lastest post on UMichMedAdmissions twitter. If you google u much Monday or something like that it should be the first profile. The video is short and not so clear but you can look for "indiana_black" on IG if you want to see some of the things the Black student Ass and SNMA do at UMich.

I'm feeling so grateful and so excited! I got in to one of my top choices today with a full scholarship! I wanted to post here because I've been lurking for the past week or so as my nerves built up about whether I would receive a call or not this weekend. This thread has been the beacon of hope for me, for real. You all are so positive and supportive and it has been encouraging to see all of the great acceptances and opportunities posted here. Congrats!! When u say full ride you mean tuition and COA ? Or just full tuition ? I always got confused about the lingo !

I didn't clarify when I got the call because I was just so excited and could barely find my words haha. But they did say they would contact me later with more info, so tbd? I kind of assumed it was full tuition (I would have to pay for room, board, etc), but now I'm not so sure haha. The lingo is hard to keep straight I agree >_<

Good morning and happy holiday season everyone! I was just doing some reading and saw some usual SDN hate on URMs getting "preferential treatment" and not being qualified nonsense. I just wanted to say to everyone in this thread now and in the future that you absolutely deserve everything you've gotten. The MCAT didn't become magically easier because I'm a black male and no one was holding my hand on my way to two degrees because my mother wasn't born in this country. No matter what you read I hope none of you guys let that dim your shine. I can't even keep up with saying congrats to all the success that's been on here lately, but seriously congratulations, without the HARD WORK that we put in it wouldn't be possible.
